REFUGE

The Pandavas entered deep inside a dark forest, they didn't knew where to go, they were having a hard time trying to navigate their way into the forest.

They had worn the clothes Vidur sent for them, so no one recognises them in their royal attire. They had even made weapons of wood and stones for their protection.

It was night time, and the Pandavas decided to rest.

"You all go to sleep and I shall look for any threats." Bheem said.

"Sure but be careful, this forest might have Rakshasas." Yudhishthir said.

"Don't worry Jyesht. I'll be careful." Bheem assured.

The Pandavas went to sleep and Bheem sat under a tree, looking out for any threats. Soon he heard sound of a crying woman, Arjun was woken up by this.

"Who's crying ?" He asked.

"I'll go and see." Bheem said getting up.

"Be careful. This can very well be a trap." Arjun said.

"Sure thing." Bheem said leaving.

He went where the sound of crying came from, and soon saw a beautiful young maiden crying. Bheem was enamoured by her beauty.

"Who are you ?" He asked. She hurriedly started leaving.

"Wait ! I won't hurt you !" Bheem said and she stopped.

She looked at him with teared eyes, as he frowned.

"I'm sorry, the rakshasas killed and devoured my entire family. Please give me refuge." She begged.

Bheem felt bad for her, he sighed at her helpless condition and gave her a look of assurance.

"Come with me, you will be safe with my 4 brothers and Mata." Bheem said.

He walked in front as she followed him behind. This woman was none other than the sister of Rakshas-raj Hidimb called Hidimba, who had planned to trap these humans for Rakshas to devour.

When they both reached where the Pandavas and Kunti were, Bheem found them all awake.

"Who is she Bheem ?" Kunti asked.

"Mata, this maiden was crying in the forest. Her family was devoured by the Rakshasas. She seeks our refuge." Bheem said.

"Certainly." Kunti said going to Hidimba.

"Putri don't worry. My sons will protect you. By the way what is your name ?" Kunti asked.

"P-pallavi." She said.

"How did your family end up in the forest ?" Kunti asked. Hidimba looked at her nervously.

"We....were on a pilgrimage. Then lost our way and ended up in this terrifying forest, where the Rakshasas devoured them...I escaped somehow." She lied.

A lie that Yudhishthir could clearly see.
