Two
"What's happened to the truck now?", Slade asked worriedly as he stepped out to check it with Jack.
In the last two hours, the truck has broken down three times.
Now's the fourth time.
"It's an old truck this is to be expected", Jack shrugged.
"Listen, man I appreciate your help and all but at this rate we can't get to holy hill in time for the wedding", Slade groaned.
"What do you suggest aside from going through the woods?" Jack asked.
"There's road through the woods?" Slade asked fascinated.
"No way", Jack shooked his head furiously.
"Come on, you don't even wanna hear what I've got to say", Slade smiled.
"I don't wanna hear it, Slade I know that look", Jack groaned.
"What look?" Slade smirked.
"This ain't an adventure, dude", Jack frowned.
"I know but it'd still be better than using this break-and-quench truck", Slade reasoned.
"You gonna get us killed. The woods is dangerous added with the mysterious unforseen circumstances", Jack groaned.
"I wanna risk my life for my beloved, you told me that",/Slade smirked, "besides I have some training on how to behave in the woods".
"Damn you, Slade", Jack muttered.
*~*~*~*~*
'Well, hello. What do we have here'.
Tracy stared at her sister and she could see the fear in her eyes as the psycho who had abducted them caressed her checks.
Apparently the large pothole was a trap set for innocent drivers to lure them into the woods to do Godknowswhat.
They were a total of six in number.
Six armed guys and she was defenseless.
This wasn't her idea of a road trip.
She stared at her car and grimaced at her slashed tires.
They slashed it apparently to prevent them from running.
Just great.
As she thought of what to do the rest of the guys helped themselves to her supplies.
Can this day not get any worse.
'What do you want with us?',Tracy asked.
'We're gonna sell you',the man replied bluntly.
'To whom exactly?',Anne questioned surprised.
'At an auction house',he replied,'to the highest bidder'.
'Ok, good',Tracy smiled then asked sweetly,'would you mind removing the bounds around my wrist I need to uhm do some ladies stuff?'.
'Nice try, lady I'm not untying you but I can help you do your lady stuff',the man replied.
The pervert, Tracy grimaced.
'Get some sleep ladies, we've got a long journey ahead of us',the man ordered as he lay back to sleep.
Oh God help us, Tracy prayed as she sank down on the pile of grass.
*~*~*~*~*
Slade groaned in his sleep as he flicked away whatever was licking his checks.
'Go away',he muttered sleepily.
But the darn thing didn't leave instead spread to other part of his body.
Wet.
Cold.
Hard.
Thump.
He finally opened his eyes as he shook away the remnants of the snow covering his head.
'About time you wake up',Jack said quietly beside him.
'How long has the snow been falling?',he asked.
'About twenty minutes now',Jack replied.
'And you didn't wake me?',Slade groaned.
'I was expecting you to be more observant with the kind of job you retired from',Jack shrugged.
'Well I'm out of shape',Slade grumbled.
'I noticed',Jack grinned.
'Piss off, we need to leave here now',Slade stated.
'You're right about that much I think a snow storm is coming this way but it looks like it has started already at the other part of the town',Jack explained.
'Pack up we're leaving hopefully we don't die out here in the cold I really don't understand how we can be having a snowstorm in summer',Slade mused.
'Well, it's just the beginning of summer maybe it wants to have a little fun',Jack smiled.
*~*~*~*~*
'Stick together I can barely see shit in this storm we gotta keep moving',the captor was saying as Tracy sneaked away from them and grabbed her sister, they headed for the other direction.
'Man down, they're free',one of the men groaned as Tracy filled his mouth with snow.
'Run'.
Holding her sister's hand they ran like their life depended on it which technically it did.
When she prayed for a miracle, she didn't expect a snowstorm that has been raving for an hour now.
'We need to stop',Anne panted.
'Are you insane?',Tracy snapped,'there are people after us'.
'But we don't know where we're going or where we are',Anne cried.
'Let's keep going south hopefully we'll find a village to rest in and warm up, it's already morning we have three more days',Tracy explained.
*~*~*~*~*
'We need to rest',Jack said.
'No, we need to continue so we can rest when the sun is up',Slade replied.
'Does this weather look like it's going to be sunny today',Jack gestured around him.
'Exactly, so keep going',Slade replied.
Muttering under his breath, Jack continued walking.
Slade smiled as he thought of Tracy.
She was the only thought that kept him going.
He wondered how she was doing. He couldn't call her as his phone lost network coverage days ago.
'Exactly why did we leave the woods to follow the main road again?',Slade questioned.
'To avoid getting caught up in the snow at the woods',Jack replied.
Just then a car drove up to them.
'Need a ride folks',they asked.
'No, yes',Slade and Jack said simultaneously.
'Which do we pick?',they asked clearly confused.
'We're going to the country',Jack stated.
'Well, hop in we have a nice heater here',they urged.
Frowning as they sat down in the car Slade turned to Jack, 'whatever happens it's on you'.
Jack groaned.
'Relax, what's the worse that could happen?'.
Slade counted six men in total including the driver all drunk.
He was just starting to relax when they got pulled over by a police van.
'Alright, guys a trip to cell will teach you not to drive drunk'.
