LOVE RECOGNIZES NO BARRIER
Slade McCoy groaned as he held his phone in a death grip.
This woman was fucking stubborn.
"Baby, there's no need for you to stress yourself I'll be back soon and we'll leave together", he repeated for the tenth time today as he tried to convince his fianceè over the phone.
"I'm having none of that Slade", the woman replied, "now you finally want to get married I'm not gonna let anything ruin it. Find a way and come meet me at Holy Hill city for the wedding we don't need to go together. I love you".
And with that she hung up the phone.
Damn.
Now what was he going to do now?
*~*~*~*~*
Tracy Blake groaned as she dropped her phone wondering how on earth she had fallen in love with this stubborn man.
"Anne", she called loudly, "pack our bags let's go".
Anne entered the room and slumped on the bed looking tired.
"I'm done packing", Anne groaned, "man, is it so hard to pack up for a bride and maid of honor".
"Quit whinning, honey', she smiled at her best friend and younger sister, "we're going for a little road trip".
"Slade's asked you not to go alone to holy hill all by yourself right?", Anne questioned.
"Relax, I'm a big girl", she replied, "besides I won't be alone I'll be with you".
"Gracious lord!" Anne groaned, "you are not waiting for Slade to come pick you".
"Don't say it like its a bad thing", Tracy pouts, "he's already waited for his flight for two days without success.I can go alone besides we're going with the car and enough supply".
"Tracy, something is going on in the country. The entire airport has been shut down and nobody knows what's going to happen", Anne tried to reason with her.
"I'm not having any of that shit, Anne", Tracy replied, "I've waited for this day for six freaking years and now that Slade has finally resigned and is ready I'm not waiting again. It only happens once every year, Anne. After 4th June it's all over till next year. We still have five days to get there, please".
Brushing away the tears from Tracy's eyes, Anne nodded.
"Let's get this show on the road then".
*~*~*~*~*
"I need a rental car", Slade said the moment he entered the office.
"Do you have any reservations, Sir?", the secretary asked.
"No but I have my money", Slade replied.
"Where's your destination, please?" the man asked.
"Holy hill city", Slade muttered.
"I'm sorry, Sir but we can't release our car to you", the man replied eying him warily, "there's no assurance that you'd be back with our car".
"Listen, tell me how much you want and give me a goddamn car", Slade groaned angrily.
"I'm sorry, Sir but we can't be of help to you again because we're closing down our rental services today", the man responded calmly.
"Damn it!" Slade cursed loudly.
Just then an old truck pulled up to him and honked.
"Need a ride, mate?" the driver asked, "I'm headed for Holy hill city".
*~*~*~*~*
"Mom is freaking out, Tracy", Anne informed her as she pulled out of the driveway.
"I know she's worried", Tracy smiled, "her two daughters wandering about in this perilous times".
"You're funny, Tracy", Anne laughed.
"I just wish they had postponed the date of the wedding because of the unforseen circumstances", Tracy mused.
"For as far back as I can remember Tracy, they've never changed the wedding date", Anne replied.
"I know", Tracy sighed, "I'm just wondering on how it would have been like if we were allowed to do our wedding wherever we want".
"Yeah, that was back then", Anne nodded as she reminisce.
"Well, you can't eat your cake and have it. We've got to focus on this journey if we want to get there in time",Tracy replied.
"I wonder how Slade is doing back there?".
*~*~*~*~*
"So, why are you going to holy hill city because I think I'm not the only crazy one?", Slade asked his new friend, Jack, that offered him a ride as they drove towards the countryside.
"Aside from the fact that I needed a change of scenery, I'm going there for love", Jack replied.
"For love?", Slade questioned, "you are going to get married?".
"Well,if you put it like that", Jack answered,"I proposed to the woman I've been in love with and asked her to meet me at holy hill for our wedding".
"So, she's coming then?" Slade asked.
"Oh no, she refused", he replied, "said she couldn't risk her life by going there till the airports open again".
"Then why are you going then?" Slade asked confused.
"To drop you off and possibly attend your wedding of course", he replied.
"I don't understand, there's no one waiting for you at holy hill?" Slade asked confused.
"But someone's waiting for you, Slade", he replied smiling, "someone who's willing to risk their life just to be with you. I hope you understand that, Slade".
Slade just stared at the man in awe.
*~*~*~*~*
Tracy was wide awake as she drove in silence as her sister's quiet snore filled the car.
She pondered on how they were going to get there in time and she was worried about Slade as his phone hasn't been reachable.
So deep in thought was she that she barely had time to swerve out of the road just before crashing into a large pothole.
"What was that?",Anne questioned as she jerked awake.
"It was a pothole, relax",Tracy replied smiling, "let me check it out".
"Be careful", Anne whispered.
Gently, Tracy stepped out of the car and turned on the headlight as it was already getting dark outside.
She needed to pull up to at the nearest motel so they could spend the night.
Smiling as she thought of what Slade will say should he see her like this she heard a click behind her.
"Don't move".
