Chapter 2: The Professor in blue robes.
To put it simply, the Grangers were baffled by the presence of the owl as it isn't everyday that you see mails and letters delivered by an owl in the 1990s when their are post offices and post men for that purpose. But they were really curious as to who send it. So, after a few minutes of a shocked silence, Mr. Granger stepped forward and opened the window. The owl flew in, took a round around the hall and gracefully perched on the dining table in the centre of the room.
Hermione, who was standing closest to the table, gingerly took the letter out of the owl's grasp. The envelope was thick and heavy and it was made of yellow-ish parchment. On it, she saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake, surrounding a large capital H. She gasped and turned it over. There, written in emerald green ink, was the address and it was, it was addressed to her!
Miss H. Granger

Now, Hermione was confused, and being the sharp and smart girl that she was, confusion was a rather foreign feeling for her and she quickly wanted to get rid of it.
"What is it, Hermione dear?" asked Mrs. Granger timidly. Mr. Granger, who was looking at the letter over Hermione's short figure, said, "I think we should open it and see." Hermione passed the letter to her father and waited for him to open it.
Charlie gently took the letter out of the parchment and the Grangers started reading it together.

Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress
A thousand questions exploded inside Hermione's head. She, a witch? No, obviously their must be a mistake. But then the address on the letter clearly said that it was meant for her. She looked at her parents and saw that they were adorning identical expressions of shock and confusion.
"Mum. Dad. Do you have any idea about this?" Hermione asked her parents with a pointed nod towards the letter. Mrs. Granger opened her mouth to reply but here words were cut short as at that moment, the sound of their ringing doorbell echoed through the house.
Jean, who was the first one to recover from the shock, said, "I will get it." She made her way towards the door and opened it to see a tall and stern-looking woman. But the visitor was no ordinary one. She had black hair and was wearing navy blue robes. Well, who in their right mind wore robes in this weather? While Jean was busy taking in the weird appearance of their guest, the stern-looking woman was getting impatient. She cleared her throat and said in a formal-y voice,
"Good morning. You must be Mrs. Jean Granger. I am Minerva McGonagall and I am the Transfiguration professor and the deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am here to talk to you about your daughter's acceptance at Hogwarts."
By this time, Charlie and Hermione had made their way upto the door and were listening intently to McGonagall's introduction. "Good morning. I take it that you are Mr. Charlie Granger and you are Miss Hermione Granger." said Minerva as she looked at the other two Grangers.
"You...you are Professor McGonagall! You are the one who send me this!" exclaimed Hermione as she came out of her reverie. She lifted the Hogwarts letter which was clutched tightly in her little fist.
Professor McGonagall's eyes softened as she replied, "Yes, I am. And I would like to congratulate you, Miss Granger as not everyone gets the opportunity to attend Hogwarts. Now, I am sure that you all must have many questions as to how Miss Granger here could be a witch and why do you get to know that only now. But, worry not. I am here to vanish all your queries. So," she turned to Mrs. Granger, "why don't we have this conversation over a round of tea?"
So, that's the chapter! Go ahead and review! And constructive criticism is appreciated!
