One final battle between
hope.. And despair
*Ding dong, bing bong*
"Ahem! Ahem! Testing, testing! Mike check, one two! This is a test of the school broadcast system! Am I on? Can everyone hear me? Okay, well then...!" I shivered at the voice, it was completely out of place of the once happy setting. "Ahh, to all incoming students! I would like to begin the entrance ceremony at...right now! Please make your way to the gymnasium at your earliest convenience. ...That's all. I'll be waiting!"
" ...What. The. Hell was that just now?" Mukuro started to sweat.
"Well then, if you'll excuse me..."
Mukuro reached out to Byakuya who quickly rushed towards the exit. "H-Hey! What, you're gonna take off just like that!?"
Hiro took his fingers off my face lifting them up to scratch his head, "Ohh yeah, now I get it! This whole thing was just to get us all pumped for the entrance ceremony! Man, thank god it was all a joke. I'd be totally freaked if this was real! Alright, guess I'll head out too. Wonder what they got planned for us next..."
As he left he took Leon, Chihiro, Toko and Celestia with him. Makoto gave me an uneasy feeling begging me to stay with him. I looked back and forth between the lucky student and the four. Time slowed down as a timer appeared above me.
There was a white bar slowly depleting. Two options showed up in front of me, 'Stay with Makoto' and 'Progress to the next scene.' The white bar soon stopped moving all together as other words above popped up.
Congratulations! You've just unlocked your first Interactive episode, this section will come up often. The game will give you two options to choose from with a rapid declining bar. Your actions do affect the story.'
I pressed my hand over the second option after thinking, 'Progress to the next scene'. The option soon erupted into white sparks as I gave the Ultimate Lucky student a peace sign.
I followed behind Hiro who was happily blabbering to Celesita who looked as if she was going to commit mass genocide then end herself. Makoto endered the gym shortly after us, he walked up next to me and muttered, "Oh. It really does look like an entrance ceremony..."
Hiro slapped his back, "See? Told ya! It's totally normal entrance ceremony stuff."
He calmed down after having Hiro comfort him. He placed a hand on his heart turning to me to say something, however when he opened his mouth another voice spoke up. "Hey there, howdy, hello! Is everyone here? Good! Then let's get things rolling!"
"Huh? A teddy bear?" I asked. Monokuma leaped out from behind the podium. He landed on the poll with a big bang and shined everyone a big goofy smile.
"I'm not a teddy bear! I...am...Monokuma! And I am this school's headmaster!" He frowned, "Nice to meet you all!"
"Wh--? Waaaaaah! That teddy bear can talk!"
"Calm down! I'm sure there's just a speaker inside it." Taka plugged his ears from hifumis outburst.
"I told you already, I'm not a teddy bear...I'm Monokuma! And I'm your headmaster!"
"Waaaaah! It moved!"
'Aw man my ears...'
"Seriously man, calm down! It's prolly just a remote control toy or somethin'." Mondo cracked his knuckles.
"How dare you compare me to a child's plaything! You've cut me deep. Deeper than the Mariana Trench..." Monokuma started to kick his feet on the ground "My remote control system is so complex, even the folks at NASA can't recreate or even comprehend it! Ah, but don't make me say stuff that might destroy NASA's dreams. I just couldn't BEAR that!"
"'Bear' that? Really? You are...unfortunate." Celestia started to laugh, Monokuma sighed "Now then, moving on! We really must hurry and get started..."
"Giving up already? No other stupid bear puns?" Mukuro scrunched up her nose with disgust.
"Quiet down now, quiet down. Ah..... Everyone stand at attention and bow! And...good morning!"
"Good morning!"
"Heyo! Good morning!" I waved. Makoto eagerly rushed to pull my hand back down from making a fool out of myself. I earned myself a hefty laugh from Taka and a disappointed glare from Mondo.
Toko glared at the two of us "Y-You don't have to s-say it back..."
"Now then, let us commence with a most noteworthy and memorable entrance ceremony! First, let's talk a bit about what your school life here will be like. Now, ah, make no mistake--" Monokuma gave us all a soft smile pointing both his hands towards us, "you few students, so full of potential, represent the hope of the world. And to protect such splendid hope...you will all live a communal life together solely within the confines of this school. Everyone will live in harmony together, and adhere to the rules and regulations of the school."
He continued as he started to change his position, "Ah, now then...regarding the end date for this communal life... There isn't one! In other words, you'll all be here until the day you die! Such is the school life you've been assigned."
"Wh-What did he just say? Until the day we d-die...?" Toko clutched her heart and shivered.
"Oh, but fear not! We have quite an abundant budget, so you won't lack for all the common conveniences."
"That's the least of our worries right now!" Sayaka twirled a strand of hair between her finger and thumb.
"Yeah, what the hell? You're saying I have to live here forever? You're screwing with us, right?"
"I am not screwing with you! I am no liar, of that you can be 100% sure." Monokuma yelled at Mukuro. "Ah, and just for your information...you're completely cut off from the outside world. So you don't have to worry about that dirty dirty land beyond these walls ever again!"
"Cut off...? So all those metal plates all over the school..." Makoto asked, he brought all of our attention back to the metal plates over the windows and doors. "They're there to keep us trapped in here?"
"That's exactly what they're there for. No matter how much you may yell and scream for help...help will not come. So with all of that in mind, feel free to live out your life here with reckless abandon!"
"Come on, what the hell is this? I don't care if the school or whoever else is behind it all, this is just a really bad joke."
"Yeah! Cut this shit out! It isn't funny anymore!"
"You keep saying this is a lie, or a joke. A bunch of skeptics, all of you." Monokuma turned to us scratching his head, "But I guess you can't help it, huh? You all grew up in an age where you're taught to doubt your neighbor... Well you'll have plenty of time to find out whether or not what I say is true. And when that time comes, you'll see with your own eyeballs that I speak the undeniable truth."
The more he explained, the more and more it dawned on me that this wasn't just a game.... I hadn't realized that this was the real deal and my life was in fact now on the line like everyone else.
