Never ever forget about me,
even when you get out of here
◥◤◢◣◥◤◢◣◥◤◢◣
We caught up with Kyoko in the hallway, she ran to me and Makoto--but in reality she probably was just speed walking. Makoto shouted after her, "C-Can you hold on! Let me give you the headmaster's handbook. That way you can--"
"That won't be necessary. If I'm right about this, I shouldn't have any problem opening the locker with my own handbook. After all, it would seem that it's my locker." She stopped, we crashed into her back.
"Your locker...?" I asked.
"If you watch this, it'll all make sense." She handed us a CD and continued to walk. It was labbed, 'Class #78: Urgent Interviews'. "I found it in that hidden room, after you left.I don't have time to explain what I think it means, so just watch it and see for yourself. I think you'll realize exactly what it means... You'll understand why you found my pocketbook in a place none of us have ever seen before. Oh, and now it's my turn. Do you have a second to listen to me ramble...?"
"Always."
She continued after my affirmation. "So as it turns out...the arrangements I'd made...didn't stick. What I mean is, I'm less and less sure of everything. Even my own feelings... I can never find the answers to the questions I wanted to ask. For the rest of my life... But there's one thing I am sure of. When it comes to the mastermind, there's no room in my heart for forgiveness. I swore to destroy the mastermind. This is just one more reason to follow through on that."
"What's the reason?"
"Well since you ask, It's strange...to be confronted with his death, and suddenly feel this way. I couldn't care less if my father had found happiness. So why is it...? Why does it bother me so much to know how he suffered...? It's ridiculous. There's just no understanding of it, I guess. So, that's it for my rambling. There's still much to do before I can consider my task complete."
"Yeah, you're right." Makoto sighed.
"You sound like you're an assassin." I joked.
"I rather be called a spy--"
"That does suit you better."

"But keep this in mind... There is only ever one absolute truth. Whether that truth serves justice or suffering... Whether it's the greatest truth, or the worst..."
"What do you mean...?" Makoto asked her.
"Even if the truth you uncover is filled with hopelessness...you still can't give up hope."
"A-Absolutely not! Because... Because all I can do is keep moving forward. That's pretty much all I'm good at, ya know?"
"Indeed... Sorry if that was...strange. Anyway, I need to get going. I'll see you at the class trial..." She spread up faster than before. I was surprised-- i had no idea that Kyoko could move so fast. Makoto quickly ran after her, but I was out of breath. I couldn't follow them to the ends of the earth....
I felt like following them but I turned back to the cold room, taking another peak at the body. I quickly made my way to the infirmary. I flung open the door only to spot Chihiro and Mondo chilling in the room.
"Y/N!" Chihiro grinned from ear to ear when I barged in.
"Am i...interrupting something?"
"Don't be an idiot, Y/N" Mondo, who was laying back on one of the spare beds, flung up with fear. "We... came here to find you."
"Did you guys?" I pulled up a chair, wheeling it to the table where I looked over all of our evidence and evidence. Chihiro hummed and came up behind me and started to play with my hair. His fingers smoothed my hair down and just overall calmed all my nerves.I didn't even notice how stressed I was until he started doing this.
I listened as Chihiro and Mondo had a conversation with each other. They talked about the outside world, our old friends, our childhood, our talents and much more. Their conversations flowed so easily, as if they've known each other their whole lifes--that or were destined to be soul mates.
I joined in on their conversation, naturally I jumped into the conversation. I forgot about all my worries and all my fears. I could finally stop seeing these guys as video game characters and...classmates, fellow friends.
That was until Monokuma's loud announcement.
We turned our head when we heard the chimes, Monokuma appeared
*Ding dong, bing bong*
"For anything that has a start, there has to be an end. And if the end comes, then that means it's time for a fresh start. There is no night that doesn't have a dawn... Although that dawn is totally pitch-black! There is no storm that won't eventually end... Of course, then that leads to drought! But as I said, every end is the promise of a new beginning. Which is why I'm sure we'll get to meet again. Because the end is only the beginning!" we all groaned. "Anyway, let's get started! The beginning of the end of the class trial! Everyone gather once again at you know where! Huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu! ''
"Awh man....It's about to begin again... The class trial...is going to start." Chihiro looked as if he were going to faint.
"C-Calm down!" Mondo sighed.
"T-The final class trial... The last time all our l-lives will be on the line... The last, um..., time, hope and despair are on the line..." He sighed. Mondo met my eyes, 'what....'. That was very--out of character for chihiro. It was really weird to me.
"Well... We'll get through this together." Mondo grinned and softly grabbed both Chihiro and my own hands.
We made our way to the elevator, I couldn't help but hum a song. Whatever it was, it jumped twice from K'naan to Romeo santos. I don't think they have the same music here that we have back in our world-- do these guys even know about some of our artists?
I didn't get the chance to ask as we arrived at the red doors. Chihiro struggled a little to open the heavy door with one hand but refused to let go of our hands. We arrived, expecting someone--toko--to call us out on holding hands.
But it was quiet. Soundless.Silence. And it wasn't any normal silence as well. It was the deafening silence of fear and suspicion. It was like...the first class trial we had.
Kyoko mumbled, "No human language can describe the disappointment I'm feeling right now." After watching Makoto and Genocide Jill have a quick argument about Byakuya.
It was a little funny. How close everyone got with each other in the couple of weeks. In all honesty-- I don't want to leave them. I've grown so close with them that leaving now will seem almost... unnatural. I wish to stay like this forever.
However things never seem to go my way.
"Puhuhu. Is everyone here? Ooh, and wearing our Gloomy Gus faces, I see!" Monokuma spawned out of Satan's ass and scared everyone in the room. "Okay, well then...let's begin! This final class trial is gonna be slathered in pitch-black despair! Climaximum sorrow!"
"You're right. This is the final class trial. And this time, it'll be fair." Kyoko glared at the bear.
"Whaddya mean, THIS time!? Stop with all the slander! I'm a bear in good standing, ya know! If there was a Mr. Fair Guy Universe contest, I'd take home the tiara every year! I'm gonna win this game super fair and square! And I'll make sure everyone watching at home knows...that despair is mightier than hope."
"Things appear to be getting more and more intriguing." Celestia hummed.
Mondo growled. "I'm glad you're finding this shit amusing."
"Chihiro? Y/N dear? Please keep your wild beast on his leash." She grinned behind her hands, her nails glistened in the light.
"Stop it you two. Everyone stop this ridiculousness. Enough of your tedious drive, Monokuma. Begin the trial already." Byakuya used the two going at it.
"Sure, sure. Let's begin the trial already! I'll be waiting for you down below. So don't try and run away... Ahh-hahahaha!" Laughing as loud as ever, Monokuma disappeared. With an inexplicable confidence, Byakuya was the first into the elevator. One by one the others followed. Nobody made eye contact, nobody said a word. They just disappeared into the elevator.
"They're all acting...odd. Like they're paranoid, suspicious of each other... But you know why that is, don't you?" Kyoko and Makoto came up to us.
"It's... because they're idiots?" Mondo asked.
"A-Are they afraid?" Chihiro asked.
Kyoko sighed and looked at Makoto, he answered "Y-Yeah, I think so..."
"Well, you can tell us all about it soon. At the class trial..."
"You're right. I'm ready..." He sighed, he grinned at me "We're ready."
"Ready to win, right guys?"
"Of course..."
"Fuck yeah!"
"...Fuck yeah!"
"Why does Chihiro curse like it's second nature?" I sighed, 'Him and Mondo really must spend a lot of time together.'
"He did hesitate a little, if that's worth anything?" Mondo grinned.
"Well, I'm glad to hear you all say that. Let's do this together." Kyoko led the pack to the elevator.
We started making my way toward the opening. Step after step toward that gaping maw... I gripped my flower purse in fear. I'd resolved that this would be the last time. I repeated to myself that there was no fear, no mystery left. I pushed my anxiety down, calmed my trembling body. And finally, on steady legs... I passed the threshold and stood in the elevator.
Without warning it began to descend... Deeper and deeper...
Deeper...deeper...deeper still.
Deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper...
Deeper and deeper it fell...
I closed my eyes, and sight fell away. All sound, too, disappeared. Alone in the universe, I waited for the elevator doors to open for the last time. I couldn't help but play with the bag.
So many questions rushed around my head. What will happen when I finish the class trial? Do I continue to fight out there? Do I get to go home? Do I spend the rest of my life stuck in this game I so desperately wanted to be a part of or do I end our story here? Would I even have the opportunity to choose or is faith handed to me on a silver platter by the demotic bear?
What could have been seconds or centuries later...I felt the gentle vibration of the elevator come to an end. I slowly opened my eyes.
Yashihiro asked, "This...is the final trial site?"
It...looked nicer than the other ones. A 10/10 from me.
"Whaddya think? Isn't it just the perfect background for deciding a person's fate!? It's the long-awaited last stage! The always-exciting final boss battle!" Monkuma did a little dance. "Puhuhu... And I'm gonna sit in on this one! I'll just sit right here in the vacant sixteenth seat! Well then! Let's...BE IIIIIIIIIIII N!!!
