"Wonder Woman"
Chapter Four: We Keep Denying This
16x06: Beneath the Surface.

*Trigger warning*

Isana was way too overdressed for a crime scene and yet she still had to show up she also had no time to change. Of course, Gibbs adored her and told her to meet them at the office where she had yet to change. The rule was if she showed how much work she put in she could change that was always a rule for Halloween costumes especially if you were on call.

She rushes into the bullpen, already having gotten all the info just as Torres and Mcgee were there.

"Oh, this is so good." Nick had the biggest smile on his face while Mcgee was laughing.

Isana was dressed up as Wonder Woman it was a collectible costume that she paid a lot of money for. Her pantie hose was perfect her hair was straightened and styled under the headband that Wonder Woman wore. Her breasts were pushed up and her boots were to her thighs Honestly, she looked hot.

Torres snaps a photo and she just rolls her eyes, she was at a charity event with Dean he had gone as Superman and she decided to play Wonder Woman, plus it was for kids so if she had to look the part she figured why not look good doing it.

"Hey, laugh all you want, But I look good," she replies.

"All right, talk to me." Gibbs enters he stares at Isana a small smile on his lips before he goes to his desk.

"Uh, the first victim you know as Navy Petty Officer Third Class Tim Buckley. Yeah, went on leave yesterday. C.O. said he was driving home to visit his parents in Philadelphia."

"Unfortunately, we're still trying to ID the second victim," Nick says

"No, we're not." Bishop walks in she plugs in a flash drive. "According to his DNA, victim number two is-"

" Anderson Kohl."

"Uh, yeah." Bishop looks to Nick who was staring at the screen in disbelief.

"He's a former Marine. Who failed out of FLETC survival training class in 2006."

"A friend of yours?" Gibbs asks.

" Man, I knew this guy looked familiar. I-I took the same class before I went undercover. This guy was a rock star."

"Yeah, but you said he failed out," Mcgee mutters.

"Yeah, he had an authority problem. But he was good. He was really good."

"How'd he end up dead in a truck stop bathroom?" Isana asks.

" I don't know. We were close during training. We were always trying to one-up each other. Then we lost touch after he failed out."

"Well, he's got no work record, no social media presence, but he lives here in D.C.rents a condo in Georgetown." Bishop explains.

"Go, Torres. Take Bishop with you." they grab their bags as Isana walks over to Gibbs's desk she stands there hands on her hips. He sighs. "Yes you can change." she sighs in relief going to grab her bag and change.

Isana and Bishop were tasked with Talking with Kasie. They enter the lab seeing Kassie in a red NCIS jumpsuit.

"Hey, Kasie." Bishop greets her with a smile as well as Isana who was now changed. She was wearing black skinny jeans, black doc martens, and a powder blue sweater that had a few sparkles and her hair was in a braid. Some of her curls were in her face but the rest was french braided. Her badge and gun were clipped to her hip.

"What are you doing here?"

" Uh, we were just checking in for an update." Bishop smiles as the two are standing in the doorway.

"Who told you there was an update? Was it Jimmy? Hmm?"

" Whoa. Uh, you know what? We are gonna come back later." Isana begins as Bishop nods.

"No, stop. No." Kasie takes a deep breath. " I'm sorry. You have no reason to apologize."

Isana gives Bishop an Incredulous look. "Did I apologize, or?"

" This isn't your fault. You're not the one who refused to clean your bathroom ever." They step further into the room seeing all the items from the truck stop bathroom.

"Ooh. No, that would be Nicky."

"There is just so much contamination. I mean, when Gibbs first said "truck stop bathroom," I thought, "Oh, oh, sure, this might be a bit rough. " But there's too much. I mean, look at all this."

"Yeah, it's gross." Bishop winces.

"Have you ever swabbed a urinal cake?"

" Uh, is that a trick question?" Bishop replies.

" Because I just added that to my resume. I mean, do you have any idea how much DNA men just leave around a bathroom? And I don't even want to say what else."

"Uh, I don't want you to, either," Isana says as Bishop nods in agreement.

"The entire crime scene is unusable. I will never find the killer's DNA in that cesspool."

"Okay. Well, have we had a chance to look at any of the other evidence?" Bishop asks.

" Oh, you mean the victim's cell phone that I still need to finish cracking and do a full data search on?" Kasie walks over to her desk picking up the phone.

" Okay. we're just gonna go."

"Or were you referring to the entire evidence garage of personal belongings that I still need to sort, and categorize?" She was rambling to herself as the two agents backed out of the room.

Kasie had calmed down and got into Kohl's phone where she found a bunch of names on the calendars and what she assumed was birth dates. But upon further inspection were murder dates it was concluded that Kohl was a hitman. It was the next morning and Isana was sitting on Nick's desk next to him, her hair still in the braid a few curls framing her face she had on a purple turtle neck with an acid wash sweater vest over the top some ripped blue jeans which were ripped at the knee and a pair of white sneakers, her famous charm was around her neck.

"So Kohl was a hitman." Bishop begins.

"Who kills a killer?"

"Maybe it was a hit gone wrong? Maybe Kohl was trying to take out Petty Officer Buckley, and things went sideways?" Bishop suggested. Isana squeezes Nick's shoulder and he just stares off into space.

" Kohl was the target. Buckley just walked in on the hit."

"Maybe it was revenge. Kohl had a lot of victims. That's a lot of angry friends and relatives." Mcgee says,

"Yeah, and these are not the kind of victims whose buddies will call the cops."

"Who are they?" Gibbs asks.

"Well, we've got drug lords, mafia, money launderers."

He stops scrolling through the pictures going to the last one. "Which one's she?"

" That is Jenny Wayfair. This one's local. She worked at a pawn shop her boyfriend owned in Fairfax."

"Pawning can be a dangerous game. I see you figured out Kohl was a hit man. Good for you." a man with short blonde hair speaks up.

"Uh, who's that?" Bishop asks as they watch him walk upstairs to Vance's office.

Isana was paired with Gibbs and Bishop. She was in the backseat on the phone. The guy that came through earlier was the CIA. He wanted info on Kohl's Handler, the person who gave Kohl his assignments. He agreed to help track down anything about the international killings that Kohl did while everyone else was tracking down the most local ones.

"All right, I'll tell him. Yeah, thanks." Isana puts her phone in her pocket. "That was Torres and McGee. No luck finding any leads so far."

They get out of the car. "So, next on the list is Jenny Wayfair. Killed by Kohl three months ago.

Police investigated. All they got was a witness who saw her in an altercation with an unidentified male the week before she died. This is her boyfriend's place-- Bill Zaprowski." Bishop explains as they approach the pawn shop.

"Zaprowski, the kind of guy to go after a hitman?"

" Well, he was investigated for laundering and racketeering but the feds could never make any of the charges stick," Bishop explains they enter the shop and Gibbs holds open the door for the two women.

"Morning." He nods at agents.

"Morning. You Bill?"

" Pope wear a funny hat?" He replies.

" Special Agent Gibbs, Pacheleki, and Bishop, NCIS." Gibbs shows his credentials.

"You looking to buy, sell? Trade."

"We have a couple of questions about your girlfriend." Bishop starts.

"That's, uh. That's not my favorite subject these days. Jenny died months ago, which I'm guessing you already know."

"We know she was murdered months ago"

." Yeah, and her killer's still out there." A younger guy spits from behind the counter. He had a protective glass over it.

"That son of a bitch better hope I never find him."

"Ah, funny you say that. Anderson Kohl. You know him?" Bishop holds up a picture from her phone.

" No."

" You sure?" Gibbs asks.

"My dad just said he didn't know him. Why are you pushing?" The younger guy was now standing with everyone else.

" Well, maybe your dad did find Jenny's killer."

"Kohl was murdered, along with a petty officer," Bishop speaks up Isana had her hands on her hips, her right one closer to her gun, she had a feeling something might go off. So she was watching.

"If you think my dad could take out two guys at once, you're nuts."

"Well, he did manage to racketeer and launder money at the same time." Gibbs continues.

"Okay, how did I do this? Machine gun?" He suggested chuckling.

"Knife."

"Hand-to-hand combat. Two against one. Just a small problem with that." Bill unbuttons his shirt. " Double bypass. Three weeks ago."

"Listen, I wish it was me that killed this guy. Oh, I truly do, trust me. But I'm not your man.

Though I sure as hell ain't gonna lose any sleep over him being murdered." and with that, the agents leave.

It was a new day. Isana was wearing a long sleeve pink shirt that hugged her figure nicely. She had her hair braided into two braids and secured into two buns at the end. The shirt was a low v and stopped before the beginning of her cleavage, and she had one pair of light blue skinny jeans and black ankle boots that had little decorative chains hanging from them. Kasie found Kohl's purchases and determined he was buying enough guns and ammo to supply a small army. They talked with the supplier and he explained how Kohl wanted out, that wasn't trying to be a killer anymore.

"So what kind of hit man refuses to kill?" Isana starts.

" It's not the kind of business you just quit. Not without some serious blowback."

"I'm guessing that's why Kohl armed up and went on the run, not that he got very far," Mcgee says.

"So who got to him?"

"Well, the arms dealer thinks it was Kohl's mystery handler," Bishop explains.

"Well, it makes sense. Handler's the one that gets the jobs. If Kohl ever flipped, the handler goes down." Isana says as everyone looks at her. She just clears her throat running a hand over one of her braids. She used to be this guy, M16 didn't care about status they cared about if you were in their way. She was trained to be a killing machine and for a while, that's all she did. Some Days she couldn't see straight.

"Now we have NCIS and CIA looking for the same person."

"Yeah, how are we supposed to track someone who's been hunted by the CIA for months?"

"Kohl's hit list," Gibbs says,

"What I mean, it's a list of dead people.'"

" Yeah. Someone hired Kohl for every victim on that list." Gibbs stands from his chairs

"Yeah, if we find whoever ordered the hit, they can lead us to the handler. All we have to do is solve one of these murders."

"Okay, so, I mean, which victim do we start with? We've got a lot to choose from." Bishop says scrolling through the Victim's photos.

" Her."

" Pippi Longstockings?"

" We've already got a lead," Gibbs says.

" The pawn shop owner's girlfriend. Yeah, there was a witness who saw Jenny fighting with someone the day before she was killed." Isana explains.

"That someone could be the person that hired that hit man."

"Come on, get that witness in here, let's go," Gibbs says

When they bring in the witness. She pretends she doesn't know anything. Until they promise her that will protect her and then she explains how she saw the pawn shop owner's son arguing with Jenny. She said that he came to the door and said that if she said anything he would kill her too. Mcgee found the same withdrawal from the pawn shop's financials going back six months it was 9500 and it didn't take a genius to figure out that they were laundering money again. So Isana and Nick were the ones who got to interrogate him.

"Laundering money? Are you kidding?" Johnny sits back in his chair Isaana just rolls her eyes.

" Does this look like my kidding face?"

" No, it looks like your "I'm wrong" face." He smirks winking at Isana.

"All right, so what happened? You and Jenny fought over money?"

" NCIS likes wasting people's time." Johnny sasses

"She confronted you"

"This is ridiculous." He chuckles.

"So you had her killed."

"This is a joke, right?" he scoffs.

" You know what? I'm done here. I want my lawyer." Johnny slams his hands down on the table.

"Have a seat," Isana asks as he scoffs rolling his eyes, Nick stands up.

"Sit down!" Johnny looks at him before cowardly taking a seat. "Getting that lawyer might be a good idea. Should get one for your old man, too."

"For what? He didn't do anything."

"He owns the pawn shop," Isana says in a duh tone.

"This has nothing to do with him."

"See you." Nick goes to open the door.

"Ju Wait! Just wait. Okay? You got to leave my dad out of this. He doesn't know about any of it."

"Define "any. " Nick replies.

" He didn't know what I was doing But Jenny found out. I tried talking with her at first, but she wouldn't listen. Threatened to go to the police. So I called a number I'd been given. I was told it'd be taken care of. I had no idea they were gonna kill her."

"Don't need a number. I need a name."

Turns out it was Ms. Brentwood the woman who owned Kohl's house who tries to shoot Mcgee and Torres, it was the next day and everyone was geared up for another day Torres was entering from the Elevator while Isana and Bishop were working. Well, Bishop went to refill her mug.

"Give me a sitrep" Gibbs enters the bullpen.

"Jimmy's bringing in the body and McGee's downstairs with Kasie trying to crack Brentwood's cell phone."

"Got any leads on the target?" He asks.

" We turned her place upside down-- nothing."

"Uh, well, Kasie just set something up. She must've gotten into the cell. It's another list of names." Isana pulls the list up on the screen. "Could it be another hit list? For who?"

" Another hit man."

"Wait, Gibbs, check out the date at the top of the list. If that's a hit order, it just went out today. Navy Lieutenant Connor Reese." Isana explains.

"Where is he"

" Um, He owns a house in Alexandria. I'm calling now." Isana reaches for her phone.

"No, Pacheleki go. I got it" she hops up grabbing her coat as Nick follows.

//

It was late when they made it to Resse's place. Isana was knocking on the door. "Lieutenant Reese. NCIS."

Nick touches the doorknob and the door opens. "It's unlocked. Was Gibbs not clear enough that a hitman was trying to kill this dude?"

" Crystal." Isana already has her gun out. She pushes the door open more with her foot and the two partners enter inside. She checks the first door infront of them. "Clear." they hear a thump coming from the closet.

"Gonna open?"

"- Uh-huh," Isana replies.

They approach the closet door. "Go."

It opens and they see the officer. "Don't kill me!"

" Didn't you hear us say NCIS?" Isana lowers her weapon

"Yeah. But I didn't believe it." Isana helps Reese out of the closet. "Where are we going?"

" Back to NCIS."

"I can't believe someone wants to kill me." He said as Nick's phone was ringing.

"Hold on, hold on." He pulls it out reading the contact name before looking up. "Get down!" someone starts shooting at them as he pulls out his gun shooting while they are on the floor. "Isana! Basement."

"What? Nick, I'm not leaving you."

"I'm hit, bad. Take him. Take Reese." Isana pulls him off the floor and takes him to the kitchen before listening to the sound of Nick fighting she then hides behind the wall just as Nick is backing the guy towards the Hall she pressed her gun to his shoulder.

"Freeze!"

" I didn't get hit." Nick was smirking.

"And I didn't go to the basement."

Nick turns him cuffing him. " You know, it's this code that we worked out. If, uh, one of us uses first names, the other one fakes a retreat, and then doubles back." He chuckles. "That was a good job, babe."

"Dont Call me Babe." Isana sasses.

"Babe?"

" Mm." She sends him a look.

"Babe." He says again winking before taking the suspect away.

In all honesty, Isana was happy this case was over and all she wanted to do was go home and snuggle with her dog and that's exactly what she did.
