Who?
(3rd p.o.v. But it follows Evan.)
Connor. The freak nobody dared to talk to or even be close to. The druggie, bully, you name it.
He is Also The boy Who confrontet Evan a week ago, just to sign his cast.
Evan had never once before spoken or even been close to Connor. He wasn't sure if He knew He existed. There for, Evan didn't know anything about him. But Connor had suddenly just asked to sign his cast. Evan didn't think that was mean. That was a kind side of him, maybe one that no one dared to see.
They hasn't spoken once after that Day, but Evan had been keeping an eye on him. In class, in The corridors. He almost felt like a stalker but He just couldn't ignore that Connor had been Nice. He Also couldn't get The courage to confornt him. So all He did was follow him around. One thing He noticed was that, clearly, no one doubted The rumors and avoided him. Connor barely spoke At all during The days. Jared loved to tease Evan about it. Called him a stalker and things around that.
It is Friday, Evan is once again sitting at his lunchtable. Today, Jared was home, sick. Probably skipping. Either way, Evan was alone. He planned on quickly finish up and leave. Well, that didn't work, since a certain tall, Long haired brunett suddenly approached.
"hey."
The brunett stated shortly
"H-hi"
"um, Ok if I Sit here?"
Evan briskly nodded. Connor sat down. The taller guy started eating his lunch, pizzarolls. Evan hated The awkward silence and desperate to start a conversation.
"s-so uhh, y-ou must b-be Lucky t-to have s-s-someone to make you s-such good lunch." pizzarolls. Evan couldn't believe He started talking about pizzarolls.
Connor looked up At him, first confused, then He looked a bit mad, then sad. In The end, he just chuckled with a small smile.
"as if, my mom doesn't care. I made these myself"
"O-oh, I d-didn't know you could cook"
Evan felt embarrassed that He had assumed Connor couldn't cook. The brunett looked At Evan before sighing and muttering
"there's a lot People don't know about me"
Evan felt bad for saying that earlier. He regretted getting on Connor's bad side.
"s-sorry! I didn't mean it like that!"
"sure you did" He muttered lowly.
"sorry! I-I should go!" He stood up and quickly left. He went to his locker, picked out his stuff and went to The bathroom stall. Trying to calm down. What was that about? Connor had finally approached him and He completely messed up. Stupid anxiety.
After splashing his face with some water and drying it up, he left The bathroom and headed to class. He closed in to his classroom. Just another turn.
He made a turn, there was Connor. Shit, Evan forgot they had class together. He went back behind The corner hoping Connor didn't notice him. To his dismay, The brunett soon came around The edge to see him. Evan felt himself back up against The Wall. He didn't want to be mean but He couldn't help to be a little scared.
"hey, calm down. I'm not mad"
Evan sighed. He tried his best to calm down. He shouldn't be like everyone else. He knew Connor wasn't only mean. At least He thought so?
"I-I know. S-sorry for earlier. I-i didn't think of what I said and s-sorry f-for being scarred. I-it's mean.. "
Evan startled as Connor grabbed his shoulders. At first He tensed but noticed that The boy didn't look At him. Connor had his head turned away.
"listen Evan, I'm not mad At you. I'm actually happy. You're only been Nice to me."
Evan didn't know what He did next or what He must've thought but He heard his own voice say
"i-it's okay. Um.. W-wanna Come over after school?"
Evan and Connor stared At each other. Both sharing The same, surprised expression. After what felt like hours, Connor nodded. He then chuckled
"see ya" then He turned and entered The classroom. Evan entered a bit later and sat down At his seat. Wich was pretty far away from Connor's.
The rest of class, and of The Day, went by slowly but way to quick.
Evan couldn't stop thinking about Connor. Today, the boy who everyone feared, was going to visit the home of the nosy anxious and nervous boy in school. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to feel but he honestly didn't dread it. He had always wanted to see and get to know the good side of Connor. Now was his chance.
Soon enough, the bell rang. Evan hadn't really planned anything or spoken to the other boy but he knew Connor had a car. He hoped he could meet up with him somehow.
He went outside to the school grounds. He looked out towards the parking lot and searched the cars for Connor's. He soon spotted it but before he could walk over, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He flinched the sudden contact. The hand removed itself and Evan turned around to face the hands owner. It was Connor.
"hey, calm down" Connor seemed to have much more of a chill now.
"i-I'm sorry! Uhh.. H-hi.." he felt so embarrassed. He couldn't get one sentence straight.
Connor just chuckled and pointed at his car.
"let's go. Do you have a driving license?"
Evan shook his head. He didn't have the money for that, nor a car. He had to save a lot of money to help at home. His mom had insisted that he should get a licenn'se but he just said that he could manage without one.
" ok, then I'll drive and you'll guide me."
Right, evan remembered they were going to his house. He felt like face-palming hinself right then and there.
They quickly got into the car and drove off. It felt really awkward. The only thing being said was directions. Otherwise, silence was the king of the car.
When they arrived, Connor just watched the small house for a while. It was small, fleaky color, half dirty. The garden was small and messy, though there was some plants that Evan took great care of. Evan got anxious, maybe Connor thought that his house wasn't good enough. He'd figure out how poor they were.
"it... looks nice" Evan saw how he struggled with the compliments.
"y-you don't have t-to lie. I-i know it's r-really small a-and we're p-poor" he felt his eyes tear up.
"no no! Evan, it's nice"
Connor took Evan's hands.
"... I' m just not used to y'know... Actually being nice to someone?"
Evan wiped of his tears and took several breaths. He soon let go off the taller boy's hands. He took a deep breath, looked away from Connor, and said
"i'm f-fine. Thank you C-connor" he then opened the car door and exited the car. He walked up to the front door and started searching for his key as Connor made his way up from the car.
Evan entered his house, scanning the halls and rooms. His eyes landed on the kitchen table. As expected, there was a note with a 20$ bill on it. He didn't bother to read, he knew his mom would work late again, she probably won't be home before morning.
"everything alright?"
Connor broke his thoughts
"u-um, y-yes" Evan shook his head, then smiled to the taller one. "w-we have t-the house for ourselves"
Connor shrugged as an answer, he took off his shoes as he saw Evan do so. Evan lead the way through the house. He guided him through every twist and turn, explaining where everything was, then they arrived to his room. Evan took several breaths before allowing Connor in. It felt personal to him.
Evan's heart skipped a beat when Connor entered his room. He could see the brunette tried to keep a straight face but he started smiling. Evan hadn't seen him smile once, and he thought it was so cute.
Wait what.
...
...
...
...
...
Evan also couldn't believe that he was gaining feelings for Connor. He'd never expect that. He wanted to push himself, great pick of crush. Way out of his league. Connor chuckled
"I like your room. It has a nice vibe"
"t-thank y-you"
If anything, due to recent discoveries, Evan only were to stutter even more. Great.
"s-s-so w-what d-do you want-t to d-do?"
"I don't know why don't we just chill? Get to know each other?"
Connor looked around Evan's room and ended up sitting on the floor. Evan sat down beside him. Silence struck due to neither being able to say anything.
"u-um... I like trees?"
Evan's sentence came out as a question. Great, how weird isn't that.
"tell me about them"
Wait, he wanted to know?
"w-well, did y-you know t-trees c-can't die of age? The oldest one ever found is over 4.800 years old."
Connor seemed rather fascinated and motioned for Evan to continue.
***2 hours time skip***
They've been talking for several hours. When Evan he'd started losing up, it was easier to drive a conversation. Evan personally loved being able to talk. In one end, he loved how someone would lid'sten to him, talk with him and even laugh with him. On the other end, he loved how cute Connor was when he smiled. He couldn't help just wanting to hug the taller boy and snuggle his face into his hair and hoodie.
Anyways, Evan was getting hungry, so was Connor.
"do you want to like, order pizza?"
"O-oh.. U-m... Yeah b-but i-I'm not uhh best a-at the s-social part."
He never ordered pizza when he was home alone. He ate frozen food or instant food. He couldn't socialize at all.
"I could do that"
"really?! T-thank you!"
Evan smiled, he felt hopeful. Connor was willing to order him pizza. Evan couldn't remember the last time he ate pizza, or shared dinner with someone aside Jared.
Connor picked up his phone and ordered a pepperoni, because, who doesn't like pepperoni. Then, he put his phone aside and turned to Evan
"so uhh, heh, it's weird but like,, it's actually really nice hanging out with you"
He scratched his neck and didn''t give Evan direct eye contact. Not that Evan cared. Someone had admitted to actually enjoy their time spent with him.
"w-well, you're really C-cool t-too!"
Connor smiled at the compliment. Evan figured that he doesn't hear those too often.
Connor went first out of Evan's room. He headed towards the kitchen. Evan just stared at he searched the cabinets.
"well, I know you're really anxious, so I figured I'd give you a tip"
He pulled out a bowl and poured water in it. Then he added other ingredients, soon he had a blue goo, it seemed slimy. He then took a balloon and poured the slime into the balloon. He tied the balloon and handed it to Evan.
"I know it's sudden but here, it's a homemade stress ball. You probably know how those work so I'll go and start cleaning up."
Evan's eyes shone as he took it. He felt so helpless right now. Connor was so nice and sweet. He was everything Evan wanted and needed.
" T-thank you"
They heard the football ring. Evan stared, amazed, as Connor made his way to the door. He opened, spoke to the delivery gal, took the pizza and payed, then said goodbye and closed the door. When he turned back he stopped as he saw Evan staring at him.
"w-what?"
Connor... Stuttered?
"O-oh! Um, N-no thing it's j-just so c-cool how you just did t-that."
Connor smiled. cute. He turned to the counter and put the pizza down, he then went over and hugged Evan. He hugged Evan. The shorter boy was in chock but he loved sudden embrace. He hugged Connor back and snuggled into him. He could swear that he was blushing right now. Everything broke as Connors phone buzzed.
He sighed and checked it.
"my mom is wondering if I am coming home today."
"O-oh, um, my mom won't be home so uhh..." he then whispered in a quieter voice "you could stay here" and looked away.
Connor let out a small laugh, Evan saw a tint of red on his face before Connor turned his away too.
"u-um, I'd like that"
Evan blushed. His now crush would be staying over. Even if he was shit scared, he actually felt excited.
They started eating the pizza. Evan kept glancing at Connor every now and then to take in the beautiful view. He was completely inexperienced with love but he definitely wanted to be with him. More than he ever felt towards Zoe. The pizza was finished quickly.
"um, Evan, you have something right there" Connor broker the silence, he pointed towards his cheek. He then took his thump to wipe it off. Evan flustered.
"u-um..."
"sorry! I j-just.."
Connor didn't have anything to say. Evan simply couldn't let go of the thought of Connorns face so close to him, his hand on his cheek.
"let's g-go beck to my room" Evan mumbled. They both stood up and headed to his room. Evan sat on his bed.
"w-why don't we d-do some homework"
Connor just sighed, nodded and sat on the floor as he pulled out his homework. Ten minutes of silence later, Connor stood up.
"C-con-"
Connor walked up to Evan and stood in front of him.
"I-i'm sorry Evan. I just can't ignore it." connor didn't look him in the eyes.
Evan froze, did Connor know all the things he'd done? Stalking? Glancing?
"w-what things?"
"the following me, allowing me here, stealing glances at me, being nice to me... But also that I ordered you pizza, I can't ignore how I live hugging you. How amazing your cheek on my hand felt."
Evan couldn't believe it. What was he saying? He knew what he'd done. Why wasn't he just leaving. Did he actually like him?
" i-I'm sorry I-if I'm wrong but"
Conner stopped, he finished his sentence by cupping Evan's face and connecting their lips. Evan's past tense muzzles loosened and he soon kissed back. He loved the feeling of Connor's lips to his. They were both dominant and soft. He was really scared, everything about relationships were scary and easy to mess up, but right now, Connor was right here, with Evan.
They pulled away but kept their faces close.
"again..." Evan whispered half mumbled. They connected again. Connor put his hand on Evan's back and pushed himself onto him. Connor kept kissing Evan passionately. When they pulled away for air, happiness was the only existing emotion.
"Evan..." connor sighed.
"yeah?"
"will you be my boyfriend?"
"if you cuddle me to sleep"
They soon got ready and got into bed wearing boxers and PJ shirts. Snuggled up together they soon fell asleep.
When Heidi came home that night, she found no money on the counter and a happily sleeping Evan with a stranger next to him. She should be worried but his happiness was all that mattered. She would have to ask him in the morning.
