Previously on Chapter 46

"I'll do everything in my power for that to happen. With the help of science. I'll bring your boyfriend back. It's the least I could do to make up for my mistake..." he said. I just close my eyes at what he said. His hand went up to my head as he starts to caress my h/c hair. I know Senku would keep his promise. He never lies when it comes to science. Tsukasa... no matter how long it would take...

Y/N P.O.V

After working a lot, we've finally managed to create a while crop of wheat. Now Senku is trying to make a bread. I've never made breads before, so I have no idea what to do. So I'll just let Senku do his thing. Which... didn't end well.

The bread he made is burnt. The only people enjoying the flavor are Kohaku and Chrome. The people from the modern days, didn't even touch it except for Senku and Ryusui. Ryusui ended up throwing a fuss about it. He starts demanding that he needs a real cook. Not just any cook. He wants his personal butler.

He said the butler's name is Francois. None of us knows if the butler is a she or a he. Oh well, guess we're gonna have to wait and see once we revived this Francois. But the problem is, we don't have any revival fluid left.

I hear footsteps coming from behind me. I turn my head to see a woman with curly blond hair. I hear a thump and turn my head to see Gen had collapsed. I rush off to get water and walks back to him. I kneel down next to him, helping him drink the water.

"Are you okay, Gen...?" I asked, worriedly. He only respond with a long breath. I shake my head as I let out a giggle. "Well, someone's exhausted..." I said, amused by how tired he looks. He huffed at my reaction and pouted. I shake my head and stands up. I dust my knees to get rid of the dirts.

I approach the others as I watch Francois examined the burnt breads. Her face contorts in disgust at the sight of the blanket breads. I just let out a nervous laugh as she looks like she's about to puke.

She seems to have decided what to make. She starts giving instructions on what to do to make what she plans on making. Apparently, it's a bread called Stollen. I let out a laugh as she starts scolding Senku every now and then. It's not every day, I get to see him getting scolded like that.

A sweet fragrance of the bread fills our nostrils. I can almost feel the drool gathering inside my mouth. Soon enough, Francois pulls the baked bread from the oven. She place it on the table and starts cutting it into thin slices. I walk over and take a bite.

"Oh, wow..." I breathed out as the flavor spreads in my tastebuds. It's been so long since I've had decent food like this. It almost brought tears to my eyes. I turn to look around to see almost everyone that came from the modern era also looked touched and teary eyed. My eyes sadden as I thought about one person that didn't get a chance to taste this. I turn my head to look at the cave where Tsukasa is. 'Tsukasa... oh how I wish you're still here with me...' I thought to myself.

"We'll bring him back, Y/N... I promise" a voice said. I turn my head to see Senku. He lift his hand and gently pat my shoulder. "I swear on my faith in science that I will bring your boyfriend back... one way or another. It's the least I could do for everything I did to you" he said. I stare at him in surprise. Senku loves science, and to hear him using science to make a promise means he's dead serious about his words.

"Yeah... I'm counting on you, Senku..." I said. He sends me a small smile and walks off. I just watch at his figure gradually gets smaller the further he walks. I let out a sigh and gently run my hand through my hair. My mind drifted off to the night where Senku and I had a talk.

Flashback

"Hey..." a voice called out as I sad under a tree. I turned my head to see it was Senku. He walked over to me and took a seat next to me. "Is something wrong? It's close to midnight. Why aren't you asleep?" He asked, worriedly.

"I can't sleep..." I muttered as I avoid eye-contact with him. I let out a soft sigh as I hugged my knees close to my chest. "I kept thinking about Tsukasa" I said, in a sad tone. I felt tears starts gathering in my eyes. "I miss him so much..." I said, as I sniffled softly.

"Listen to me, Y/N..." he said. I turned my head to look at him. "I may not be the best boyfriend back then... I even neglected you until I pushed you away without realizing. It was the biggest regret and mistake I've ever made. I'm sorry for failing to show you how much you mean to me. And I can see how much happier you are now that you're with Tsukasa. Now I can tell that he's the right match for you..." he said. I just stared into his eyes. He lifted his hand, gently cupping my cheeks to wipe away the tears from my face. "I swear, Y/N... I will bring Tsukasa back. I'll make it my main priority. It is to repay of all the wrong doings I've done to you. It's my way to make amends with you..." he said.

I send him a sad smile. He smiles at me and removes his hands from my cheeks. "Thank you, Senku. That means a lot to me" I said. He nodded his head. He bidded me goodnight and stood up. But before he fully turned around his back on me. I noticed something glistening rolling down his cheeks. That's when I realize... Senku was crying.

End of Flashback

I feel my heart aches a little at the memories of Senku's tears. Did he truly regret what he did to me? But, I know that I can't dwell on that. My heart now belongs only to Tsukasa, and no matter how long it's going to take... I'll always wait for him to come back.
