Previously on Chapter 30

I thought that I'm finally okay. But seeing Chrome right here... reminds me of the man who broke my heart. The man whom I loved, but never appreciate me. As much as I keep telling myself that I'm okay. That this pain will disappear. It still hurts me. Why, why do I have to feel this way again? Why can't I just be happy? Am I not allowed to be happy??

-A Helping Hand-

Y/N P.O.V

Tsukasa is busy with something. He wants to search for more people that are strong for his army. I just stayed in the medic cave, caring for the ones who needed treatments.

After treating the last person for the day. I just take a seat on the stone chair. I let out a sigh as I lean my back against the rocky wall. My mind drifted off to Chrome.

He's been kept in the bamboo prison they created. I feel so bad for him. There has to be something I can do to help. Sure, Chrome belongs to the Kingdom of Science. He's Senku's ally. Even though Senku have broke my heart, Chrome didn't do anything wrong. I have to help him.

I make my way out of the cave. I notice Yo laughing. I frown as I crossed my arms across my chest. I roll my eyes as I hear him making fun of Chrome. I make my way towards them.

"If I tell Tsukasa you're just fooling around instead of doing your job. I wonder what he'll do..." I said, gently petting P/N's head who came to me. He's been spending quite a lot of time in the forest since it's mating season, so I rarely see him. But I don't complain about it, he's an adult leopard now.

Yo turns to look at me and starts to panic. "I-I w-w-wasn't fooling a-around..." he stuttered out. I roll my eyes at him, as P/N growls at him which makes him and the others flinch. I gently pat his head, to calm him down.

"Settle down, P/N..." I said. He relaxes and licks his paw. I turn to look at Chrome who's staring at me. I look away from him and turn to look at Yo. "What is it that you found amusing?" I asked. He starts to say random things, stumbling upon on his words.

"Okay, whatever. I don't even want to know. Just go back to work and don't slack off" I said. He stands straight at the sternness on my voice. "Yes, ma'am!" He said, saluting me. I shake my head at his antics. I glance at Chrome one last time and turns around to leave.

It's now night time. But Tsukasa still hasn't return yet. I take this as a chance to look for a way to help Chrome leave this place. As much as I know helping Chrome will means I'm helping the Kingdom of Science, which means I'm betraying Tsukasa. I just can't help it. He's my friend, and I shouldn't hate him for something Senku did.

I clear my throat when I notice Ukyo inside the cave where they kept the stuff they took from Chrome. He flinched at my sudden appearance, and turns to look at me. I raise an eyebrow as I cross my arms across my chest.

"What are you doing?" I asked. He hides his hand behind his back. "N-Nothing..." he said. I just sigh at what he said, and place my hands on my hips.

"Don't lie... I've seen what you're holding. You want to help Chrome escape the prison, right?" I said. He let out a sigh and move his hand, revealing a battery. I stare at the battery and turn to look at Ukyo.

"Don't go right. It's crowded with the guards" I said. His eyes widened at what I said. "Why're you telling me? Don't you hate Chrome? Since he's from the Kingdom of Science..." he said. I shake my head at what he said. I turn around and make my way to the entrance.

"Chrome was my friend. I wouldn't hurt him, and I don't hate him for something Senku did. I was about to give him a battery to help him escape the prison, but you beat me to it... now hurry up and give it to him, before you get caught..." I said. I turn around and walks away.

I make my way towards the cave Tsukasa's in. When I enter the cave, I notice Tsukasa is laying on the bed. He turns to look at me and smiles softly.

"Where have you been?" He asked. I smile at him and walk towards the bed. "Just a girl's thing..." I said. He raise an eyebrow at what I said, but didn't pry it. He opens his arms, pulling me closer to his side.

"I miss you. I'm sorry I've been busy the whole day that I didn't spend some time with you. I hope you won't think that I'm neglecting you..." he said. I turn my head slightly to look at him.

"Of course not. I've also been busy with treating the injured" I said. He smiles at what I said and pulls me closer. I lean my head against his chest, relaxing in his arms. He runs his hand through my hair, gently massaging my scalp. I close my eyes, humming softly
in appreciation.

"I love you, Y/N..." he said. I turn my head to look at him again. I smile softly at him. I lift my hand, and place it on his cheek. "I love you too, Tsukasa" I said. He smiles and leans down to place a soft kiss on my lips.

Time-skip

Tsukasa is busy again today, so I have some time for myself. I decided to walk around the base. I cover my head with the hoodie, Tsukasa's mane is wrapped on my shoulders. P/N is walking next to me.

I notice Yo chasing after someone. I realize it's none other than Chrome. A small smile appear on my lips, realizing he have manage to break himself free from the prison.

I notice Chrome getting cornered by the cliff of the waterfall. He turns around, trying to hit Yo with a bamboo. But Yo, being a policeman from the modern world, obviously overpowers him.

I quickly grab a vine and swing down, kicking Yo right on his head. He falls on the ground, instantly knocked out cold. I release the vine and turn to look at Chrome who stares at me in shock.

"What are you staring at me for? Hurry up and leave now, before Yo wakes up..." I said. He blinks his eyes at what I said. I raise an eyebrow when he didn't run off.

"Leave!" I said. He blinks and stares at me in shock. "Why are you helping me?" He asked. I just cross my arms across my chest. "Senku hurt me... it's true. But I don't have a reason to hate you. In any way, you're one of my friend from the Kingdom of Science. So of course, I'd help you... now leave before more guards comes for you" I said. I turn around and was about to walk away, when a hand grabs my wrist.

"Come back to the Kingdom of Science, Y/N... Senku misses you. He regrets saying all those things to you as soon as he realizes you're not coming back to the village. He was distraught when he found out you were attacked by the lioness" he said. I turn to look at him in surprise.

"He knew?" I asked. He nods his head. "Yeah, Suika chases after you and saw you getting surrounded by the lionesses. She came back to the village to warn us, but when we came to save you... you were not around..." he said. I just look away at what he said.

"We also saw a lot of blood. There was also pieces of your clothes. So everyone thought you were gone. So come back, Y/N. Senku will be so happy to see you. He hasn't been the same lately. He keeps blaming himself for what happened to you" he said, staring at me with a sad expression. I shake my head at what he said.

"I can't... I love Tsukasa. I'm not going to leave him" I said. He stares at me in disbelief. "But he's a crazy man, Y/N! He tried to kill Senku... what if he hurt you too?! There's no telling you that he won't, right?"He said. I roll my eyes at what he said. I glare at him.

"Don't talk about Tsukasa like that. You don't know him like I do. If anything, Senku only have himself to blame. I wouldn't have left, if he hadn't said those words to me and none of these would have happen. I would still be with the Kingdom of Science, with him. I loved him, Chrome... and I did everything for him. But he throws me away like I'm nothing. He treated me like I'm nothing. Now when I'm gone, he starts to realize his feelings? It's too late!" I said. Chrome just stares at me, not saying anything else.

"Now just leave, before I drag you to prison myself" I said. I turn my body around and walks away, leaving Chrome who stands in his spot. I can feel his eyes on me. But I just keep walking, without turning around.
