Chapter 20
Previously on Chapter 19
I let out a sigh and turn my head to look at P/N, who have fallen asleep next to me. I'd rather if we don't have to fight. But with how things turns out, soon or later, there will be a war between the kingdom of science and Tsukasa's Empire... it's inevitable.
-Mysterious Assault-
Y/N P.O.V
I furrow my eyebrow when I hear loud sound. "Did you guys hear that?" I asked, turning to look at the others. They nod their heads, letting me know they do hear the sound too. We quickly get up and rush outside.
"What's going on here?" Kohaku said. I let out a gasp when I notice Gen laying on the ground with a spear pierced through his abdomen. "Are you okay, Gen?" Chrome said.
"It's no use... he obviously died instantly" Kohaku said. I notice something. "No, wait..." I said. I lean down and pull the spear. There's a blood bag on the sharp end of the spear. Senku kneels down next to me and grabs it.
"He protected himself with this just in case..." he said. Suika and Chrome starts checking his body to see it's covered with blood bags. "They're all over him" Chrome said. I turn to look at Gen who lays unconscious. He's a magician through and through.
"Okay... enough talking. We need to take Gen back to the science shed so we can treat his wounds" I said. They nod their heads in agreement. Chrome and Kohaku slings Gen's arms over their shoulders. We head back to the science shed.
"Let me check him..." I said. I kneel down next to Gen. I start inspecting his body. I run my hand across his sides, making sure nothing breaks. I hum and nod my head.
"There's no fractures... he's going to be fine. We just have to treat his wound" I said. I stand up and head to the collection of medicinal herbs. I start to pick the ones that are good for numbing pain. I hand them to Senku who begins to grind them.
"How did you know these leaves are good for wound, Y/N?" Kohaku asked. I turn my head to look at her. "I learned all kinds of medical cares... I have always wanted to be a doctor for both animals and humans. So naturally, I'd have to learn a lot" I said. She hums softly and nods her head.
"We have to catch the culprit..." Chrome said. I turn to look at him. "But how? We don't even know who did it" I said. Suika jumps out of the shed, saying that she will try to investigate. Now we just have to wait.

Suika comes back not long after. She managed to find out who attacked Gen. It was none other than Magma. That guy mistook Gen for Senku, because he made the flowers disappear right before their eyes. So according to Magma, Gen is the rumored sorcerer that Kohaku brought to the village with her.
"But why is he so adamant in trying to get rid of you, Kohaku?" I asked. She turns to look at me. "Well, it's probably... wait no, it definitely is. It's because of the Grand Bout" she said. I stare at her in confusion.
She starts to explain that it's a tradition when the village's priestess have come of age. There will be a competition held. The guys will duel one another to determine who will marry the priestess. In this case, Kohaku's older sister.
I stare at her worriedly. By looking at Magma, I can already tell that he's a selfish person. If he becomes the village's chief... it'll be hard for us to get the cure all sulfa drug to Ruri. So we have to do everything we can to stop Magma from winning the match. He CAN'T be the village's chief.
The Next Day
"Oh Shit!!!" Chrome yelled out, early in the morning. I jump awake at the loud sound of his. P/N jumps as well, turning to him and growl angrily. Chrome gulps at the way P/N stares at him.
"P/N... settle down, boy" I said. He calms down and lay back down, instantly falling back asleep. I turn to look at Chrome again. "What's the matter with you?" I asked.
"Gen... he's gone!" He said. I turn my head to look at where Gen suppose to lay. He's not here. We head out of the shed. Senku said that Gen's probably head back to Tsukasa's Empire.
"We have to stop that bat!" Kohaku said. She turns around and runs forward. "Wait!" Senku said, while stepping in front of her. Kohaku crashes into him, and falls on top of him. I can feel jealousy building inside my chest, so I just look away from the two.
Senku assured that Gen is on our side. Otherwise, he wouldn't have cooperate to begin with. I remember last night Gen asked us if we can make him a bottle of cola. Looks like we're going to have to prepare it for when he returns.
"What are we going to make next?" Chrome asked. I turn to look at Senku. "I think it's about the time we make that" I said. He nods his head. "We'd need to make something first before starting the sulfa-drug" he said.
"But I thought the whole point of getting electricity is so we can immediately start on the sulfa-drug" Chrome said. I turn my head to look at him. "No... it's not that simple. The clay pot we have no longer going to cut it. We need something else that will be able to withstand pretty much anything" I said. He tilts his head, looking at me in confusion.
"We call it glass... with that, we can finally yank that piece of Suika's head" he said. He turns to look at the little girl who shivers at the mischievous look in his eyes. He grabs the watermelon rind and pulls it off.
"Wait, Senku!" Kohaku said, who was training the two guards. We have managed to convince them to join the Grand Bout. With those two, the chances of winning will be bigger.
Kohaku grabs the watermelon rind from Senku's hand. Senku turn to her and smirk. "Have a good look..." he said. We turn our heads to look at Suika. My eyes widened at her face.
"Wow, Suika... you're perfectly adorable!" Kohaku said. I was right, Suika is the cutest girl I've ever seen!! She's really cute!!! I start cooing at the little girl's cuteness. Suika turns to look at us and start to scrunch up her face.
"What the hell?!" Kohaku and Chrome yelled out in unison. I blink my eyes as I stare at the little girl's expression. Hmm... now I get it. She's nearsighted.
"Everything is fuzzy to me. It's embarrassing when Suika try to look at something. Suika always ended up looking like this. But after wearing this mask, for some reason... everything gets a little easier to see" she said, putting the mask back on.
"Oh yeah... that's the pinhole effect" Senku said. She seem confused. "Pinhole effect makes the light that comes in becomes narrow, bringing object into more focus" I said. Senku kneels down in front of her.
"Listen carefully, Suika. You're nearsighted as hell. It's not a disease... not even a defect" he said. I nod my head, smiling softly at her. We'll start making the glass for Suika, to help her see the world better. The first thing we need to do, is to gather some quartz sand which is the main material for glass. This should be fun!
