Chapter 29
Darsh's POV:
Making space is a very difficult thing. Either for a person or for things. Right now we are doing the same at home replacing some, hiding some and totally discarding some more things. It is very tough thing to do and very emotional.
It is not easy to just erase her memories from our house. It is not easy for any of us, especially Vihas.
Amma and I are moving all around the house arranging stuff around home while he sat down all alone in the room immersed in self thoughts. He has done his work completely and hid all his and her memories in the small attic storage space.
"Vihas..." I called him out to get his attention. He heard my voice, noticed my presence but cared less to respond to me. He is keeping everything to himself since past few days is not showing any interest in talking to us, specifically to me.
But he is not realising how difficult it has been for me as well.
"I know all this is asking so much from you and....." I tried to comfort him and share his pain, but he just simply left without even looking at me. I bowed my head down sighing down not knowing what to say to make him feel better. But he came back again, still not looking at me
"Anna, I will be okay with time. But think about Vadina coming into a family full of lies. Not the new house, not the luxury will matter to her and her family who are trusting us. These secrets we hold from her will never be a good thing. Sooner or later she should know everything and it would be best if it would be from you and not from outside.
"I hope you will consider my suggestion, Anna," Vihaas said clearly and firmly before leaving the room. He took the things he had gathered, leaving me alone—deepening the guilt I was already feeling. But the selfish side of my brain is stronger than the guilt, and so, these secrets feel necessary if we are to continue living together.
I just hope the time to open up to her comes later rather than sooner.
Writer's POV:
"Liked the space?" Darsh asked, his gaze fixed on her.
Her wide eyes wandered around every corner of the house—still under construction but nearly ready to move in.
He had brought her here to see the new home he had bought—the one they would move into after marriage. A 3BHK on the 2nd floor of a 12-story building, part of a large society with five blocks in total. Plenty of space. Plenty of people.
Darsh wasn't overly social, and he just hoped their lives wouldn't be too disturbed by the constant buzz of a big society. But none of that mattered—not if she liked it. Everything came down to Nidhi's reaction. Her comfort. Her expectations.
She had grown up in a wealthy, upper-class environment. He knew he had to match that, if not exceed it. If this flat didn't meet her standards—he would find another. Bigger, better. Just for her.
Darsh stood in silence, watching her drift from one room to another, offering no response. Anxious for even a hint of her thoughts, he stepped closer. So close now that his chest almost brushed her back. She had just entered what would be their master bedroom.
Startled by his sudden presence, Nidhi gasped.
"Woah!" she exclaimed, turning around quickly.
"I asked you something," Darsh said, taking a step back. He hadn't meant to scare her.
"Oh—I didn't hear you. What did you ask?" Nidhi asked softly, a gentle smile forming on her lips.
"I was asking how you liked the flat?"
"Well.... its nice, spacious and good. But...." Nidhi stopped and a bit hesitation laced through her voice whether to put out her opinion or not.
Anxiety kicked in Darsh and is patience ran out waiting for more than a moment expecting to hear what is the issue with her.
"You.. can say anything. I don't mind you see, you can tell if something's wrong," he blabbered out eager and fearful for her reaction.
"No no. Nothing is wrong. It's just I had a few fancies about my bedroom and all so... can we make that changes if its ok?"
Nidhi's eyes turned soft and pleading, wide like a puppy's—an innocent charm radiating from her as she tried to win him over. How could he possibly say no when she looked that irresistibly adorable?
With a gentle smile, Darsh took her hands in his, his grip firm yet tender. "Anything you want," he said, his voice filled with quiet affection.
Huge grin broke on Nidhi's face listening to Darsh. A soft blush crept up Nidhi's cheeks at his words and tightened his hands in hold.
"Well.... firstly I want a new bed it should be like... we should have all four sides of bed covered in white curtains and the four sides walls should be in ocean blue paint with maybe little detailing's like.... ocean setting.
And ceiling should be in such a colour where when we stick some radium stickers like stary night theme with moon, stars and planets it will glow like real night and maybe we are sleeping in some open beach gazing at stars...."
All of a sudden Nidhi stopped sharing her ideas. She returned back from her imaginary world to reality and gazed at Darsh who has been silent all the while, honestly became so clam that one would think twice whether he is conscious or not.
He must be thinking I am mad, Nidhi thought as she didn't get any reaction from Darsh.
"I spoke a lot right?" Nidhi asked sheepishly with an awkward smile. Darsh just smiled and shook his head refusing all her thoughts which relieved Nidhi a bit.
"Then..... why you didn't say anything or reacted in any way?" Nidhi asked curiously.
Moving closer to her, he again held her hands in his, with a gentle smile he said," I didn't want to interrupt you. I wanted you to tell me everything and I want to remember everything. Every minute detail. Not just how you want to transform this place....."
His intense eyes locked into hers and coming so close to her that their breathes mingled. Nidhi could literally feel the heat coming from him.
Continuing," I want to remember how your eyes twinkled with excitement. I want to remember how your hands moved all around explaining. I want to remember how wide your smile became. And I want to remember how happy you are.
I so want to remember all that because that would be the driving motivation for me to always keep you like this. Always happy, always smiling with me in this very home of ours."
Darsh expressed his deepest feelings in the best way possible and with no fear. This time it is Nidhi's turn to turn numb.
Her breath hitched and throat went dry hearing his words, more like confession. Confession? that thought struck her immediately. Logically they were engaged and will get married in due time and now he is confessing like he is asking me out again.
She let out a shaky chuckle, still hands entwined asked," Is... Is this a love confession? You are proposing to the girl you will soon get wedded into?"
Instead of speaking out Darsh just kept staring at her intently, especially at her stretched lips. Though none spoke anything each other understood what will be the next course of action.
A conflict ran in Darsh's mind whether to do what he intend to or not. And his actions slowed down as his mind choose the side to not do anything now.
But Nidhi was more than wanting this moment to happen finally. She was not ashamed to call herself desperate to feel him, his touch, his love. Noticing him coming very slow to grab her lips she stood on her tip toes and pressed her lips on his.
As soon as their lips met Darsh's mind went off. He felt his body turn all hot and subconsciously his hands held her waist rather too firmly making her jerk in her place and lean herself more into him placing her hands on his shoulders.
The slow moment ignited a spark of fire desire among them and they both wanted to explore each other more and more and make that spark of fire into a forest fire.
Alas like water puts off the fire, a loud knock on the door outside broke their intimate moment as both of them left each other. A worker at the construction disturbed them as they wanted to continue their work. Having no other words they both immediately scurried out of the house.
Blush crept Nidhi's face making her look like a red apple and the smile refused to leave her face. Darsh's situation was no different except that he was looking rather pale than red and still experiencing the after affects of the kiss.
As soon as they reached the car their eyes met making Nidhi smile even deeply while Darsh just stared at her with an inexplainable emotion. But Nidhi's smile replaced his emotions with a tender smile.
Soon smile changed to small chuckles and big laughter among them enjoying the new found joy of pleasure between them.
One after another boundaries are erasing between the two and they are becoming family with same shared boundaries excluding them from outside world.
