Chapter Four
A smash and a clang came throughout the small house, screams of multiple children followed afterwards. The sounds of their feet echoed throughout the house as a middle-aged women stood in the kitchen washing the dishes.
"Mommy!" The voice dragged on until the women sighed, going down the hallway slowly as she tried to find what room they caused a mess in this time.
She stuck her head into her eldest daughters room, bushing a piece of her brown hair away from her eyes. Her eyes widened when she saw a whole dresser on the ground as well as glass shards everywhere.
All four of her children sat harmlessly on the bed, each one wearing a nervous smile. They could only hope that their mother wouldn't say anything about the huge mess and instead fuss over if one of them had gotten hurt.
"What have you done?" The question was simple and quiet, so quiet the children could barely hear it. Christine struggled to resist the urge to pull out her hair in aggravation or to scream at her children.
"I'm sorry mommy! I tried to stop Becca but she just kept climbing everything!" Leah's voice rang out, the little girl wiping at her eyes as she struggled to stop her tears from flowing down her cheeks.
Dana gripped her sisters arms, trying to be strong for the both of them but what could a six year old do in this position? She knew no better and instantly started to cry as well, both girls wailing echoing off the walls.
Christine jumped when a a hand came down on her shoulder, the warm smile of Elizabeth warming her heart. The old women walked into the room without a worry of stepping on glass, smiling at the four children. She seemed to ignore the fact that Leah and Dana were currently crying but seemed like she knew what she was doing.
"Oh my poor babies, what's happened? Did any of you cut yourselves?" Her kind voice washed over all four children, worry-filled eyes filling them all with warmth. She waited until the children confirmed that they weren't hurt before she bent down, starting to pick up the glass.
Christine let out a loud sigh as she knelt down as well, picking up the dresser and moving it into it's original position with a loud grunt. Life seemed to be getting harder as the children got older but it seemed like Dana and Leah were finally getting the hang of controlling their wolf transformations.
Elizabeth finished picking up the glass before sending the children all a warm smile, once again and ushered Christine out of the small room.
"Come dear, I'll warm up some tea. It's stressful having four little ones all by yourself, isn't it?"
Christine gave a curt nod, sitting down at the small kitchen table, picking up the small kitten the twins had found in their garden that had no tag. Of course, Christine reluctantly agreed that they could keep the thing, seeing as it had made Becca stop screaming.
"You can't just spoil the kids like that, Elizabeth, ya know? They'll get into thinking I'll be like that and I just can't." Christine spoke, petting the kitten's head.
"There, there. I'm like their grandma. I can spoil them all I want," The smile never left Elizabeth's face as she set down a tray in front of Christine, sitting across from the young mother. Two small cups sat on the tray, the smell of green tea hitting Christine's nose.
A small smile came across her face as she thought about it. "I know, Elizabeth. I'm just afraid they're going to get too attached. ."
Elizabeth gave a small chuckle, shaking her head as she took a sip of her green tea. "Oh, darling, the doctor says I have more then two years left at least. They're young, they'll get over me in no time when my time to go has come upon us."
Christine let the small kitten on her lap jump off, watching as it disappeared the small hall and into one of the open rooms. She had grown used to Elizabeth coming around and helping her out with the children and more or less, that part would be gone soon.
Christine would once again be alone.
"Christine, do you really think I would ever leave you alone, even after I'm gone?"

Howls echoed throughout the small house, four little wolf pups chasing each other around in circles in the living room. Christine ran after them, waving their clothes in her hands as she tried to catch at least one of them.
"Come back here, dammit!" Her voice echoed over the small howls until the four small wolves turned towards the door where headlights had pulled up, Christine's eyes widening as she scooping up all of the pups, shoving them into a room and throwing their clothes at them.
"You better change back you four and get dressed before somebody notices something odd!"
The young mother then ran to the front door, sliding the door open to where a man stood on the small porch, two young children standing by his side. The man scratched at his face, seemingly nervous.
"U-um. . I just moved in and was just going around greeting all the neighbors. . I hope I wasn't bothering you or your husband!" His voice was low as he rubbed her black hair, letting out an awkward chuckle.
"Oh no! I was just getting my kids ready for bed, no husband in the picture, don't worry about it."
"O-oh! I'm so sorry!" Instantly sympathy was on the man's face, accepting Christine's invitation to come inside the small house.
"This is my son and daughter, Kyle and Sara. I'm Max Elswords." A warm smile crossed his feature before he nudged his children to mutter a small hello.
Screams came echoing towards the group as a naked Leah came barreling at the two children at the door, Dana chasing after her twin sister, clothes in her hand. Randy ran after his sisters, giggling with a cookie in his hand. Decca appeared then, rubbing her eyes as her clothes were all on backwards.
Christine let out a yell of surprise as the eight year old almost ran right into the now blushing Kyle, scooping her up in her arms as Christine was blushing herself. "i'm so, so sorry! I'll be right back! Dana, please show our guests to the living room."
Dana nodded, handing her mom Leah's clothes. She awkwardly turned towards the guests, gesturing for them to follow her, taking Randy and Becca's hands. As she could vaguely hear her mother chasing Leah throughout the house, she went into the kitchen and got some cups of water and some cookies on a tray before bringing it to them.
"Wow, you're so mature. How old are you?"
Dana let out a squeak as her whole face turned red, the young girl slowly opening her mouth. "E-eight years old." She said quietly, looking down at her lap.
"I'm Seven!" Randy shouted, standing up as he slammed his hands down on the table before looking at Becca. "Becca is only six though. I'm her big brother and my name is Randy! Dana doesn't like talking to people and that crazy one who was here earlier was Leah. Her and Dana are twins and, and ---" The seven year old was cut off by Leah running into the room, however, she was now fully clothed.
The hyper girl instantly jumped across the table, spilling the water cups everywhere as she grabbed Kyle's cheeks, the boy turning bright red as Leah closely inspected him.
"Hmph. Boringg~!" She sat bc then, crossing her arms over her chest with a loud sigh.
"I thought we would be getting some cool family next door that let's me come over all the time and we can get to be best friends and then fall in love and have kids but it never works out like this in real life!" The eight year old collapsed backwards onto the floor with a yell. "Why does life not want my story to evolve into a manga romance?!"
Christine slapped her hand to face as she walked into the room, hearing her daughter say those words. "Leah, books are fiction. I will not tell you again."
"But momm~!"
Christine decided ignoring the eight year old would be best, instead turning her attention to the three guests who were sitting there uncomfortably. "I'm sorry if my insane daughter has caused you any mental damage."
Max gave a huge smile before glancing at his own daughter, seeing the little girls eyes light up with a mischievous glint. "It's nothing, really---"
"I WANNA PLAY!"
They were all interrupted as the little girl, known by Sara, shot up from her seat then. Her eyes wide as a huge smile adorned her cheeks. "Lemme play daddy!"
