Prologue
A/N: This was a bit of a side project that I started on just because I was genuinely interested in doing some related to Genshin Impact for a long time. What started out as an idea eventually became a collection of one shots, so without further ado, this is what I came up with.
Might not do this in order of characters that were introduced in the game. It might just be random picks, but I still haven't decided.
Disclaimer: I do not own Genshin Impact or any of their content and such, ot belongs to their rightful owner. This is merely a fanwork, nothing official.

(Y/N) *snore* ...
???: Hey, there's someone sleeping out here!
???: *whisper* Then quiet down, Paimon! It's pretty rude to wake him up like this!
Paimon: *whisper* But why is he sleeping out here of all places!
Your snoring was cut off briefly, making the two strangers worried until they heard the snoring once more.
(Y/N): *snore* ....
Paimon: *phew* That was close, Lumine...!
Unfortunately for the strange, fairy-Ike person, a hand was placed over her mouth while the blonde traveler to silence her.
(Y/N): *snore* .....
Lumine: *whisper* Let's just leave him be.
Paimon nodded in agreement as Lumine released her hand before walking away... That is until she accidentally walked over a trip wire that triggered a camouflaged rope, which easily wrapped around her ankles and hung her upside down. The last thing she was able to comprehend was that the back of her head hit the floor since the trap flung her to the ground for a moment and she began to lose consciousness.
Paimon: LUMINE! LUMINE!!
Paimon flew in front of her face to snap her out of a trance only for the traveler to witness a pair of glowing red eyes and a shadowy figure directly behind Paimon. Then she blacked out only to hear her companion screaming in fear before her consciousness completely faded.
The Next Morning
Lumine: *in thought* Oh... My head...!
A ray of light awoke the blonde girl as slowly opened her eyes to find that her vision was still a little blurry. The smell of burning wood also caught her attention as she attempted to turn her head to the source. Luckily, her vision slowly returned to normal as she noticed that she was looking at someone cooking a meal over a campfire.
Paimon: (Y/N)! I brought the fruit just like you asked! I even washed them in the river before bringing them over.
(Y/N): Awsome, just leave them aside and I'll start slicing them in a bit.
With the snap of your fingers, the fire was quickly stoked and the stew within the pot began to boil.
Paimon: It smells soooo good! How much longer until it's ready.
(Y/N): Give or take, ten minutes.
Paimon: Oh, I can already taste it!
Lumine: ... Paimon?
The soft voice drew both of your attention and Paimon was the first to greet her friend as she flew over.
Paimon: Lumine! You're finally awake!
Lumine: What happened...? Ouch...!
Lumine felt a sharp pain on the back of her head as she attempted to rise from her spot.
Paimon: You tripped a rope trap and hit your head really bad! I almost thought I lost you but (Y/N) here was able to patch you right up! There was so much blood, I really thought you were gonna die!
(Y/N): *sigh* It wasn't that much...! And did you really have to say it like that? You're making me feel bad!
The fire quickly died down and you approached the girl resting on your sleeping mat to extend a helping hand.
(Y/N): Come on, I'll help you up.
She was a little hesitant but had a feeling that you had no ill intentions so she took your hand before you lifted her to her feet with ease. The pain didn't hurt as much but she did feel a pressure on her head, which prompted her to feel for a bandage that was tied around her head.
(Y/N): How ya feeling?
Lumine: A little better, head still hurts...!
(Y/N): Yeah, that was my bad! I usually set up a couple traps to keep away any thieves or hilitchurl. You were real unlucky there, you hit your head on a conveniently placed rock and knocked you out cold almost instantly.
Lumine: I-its fine, it should be on me since we got a little too curious about you sleeping in the middle of nowhere.
(Y/N): ... Really? I thought... Actually, scratch that...! It's definitely not everyday you see someone sleeping outside of the city.
Lumine lightly smiled as you were basically scrambling your words.
Paimon: Ummm, (Y/N)? I think the stew is ready!
You turned towards the cooking pot to see that the stew was practically spilling out from being boiled for too long.
(Y/N): Oh son of a-!!
You ran to the campfire in hopes that you could save the meal before the broth evaporates.
Small Timeskip
You were lucky that you saved the food in time and even prepared a few eggs as a side dish to split among everyone.
Paimon: Mmmmm, this is so good!
(Y/N): You're really going to eat all of that despite your size... Wow.
Lumine: You'd be surprised with how much Paimon can eat.
Paimon: Hey! What's that supposed to mean?
The traveler waved it off as she finished her meal and decided to check on the bandage.
Lumine: How long do I have to keep this on?
(Y/N): Lucky for you, not long but... I kinda, do need to check on it once I'm done eating. I only applied a disinfectant before wrapping the bandage so now I'm going to need to apply a proper mix to let the healing process go by a lot quicker.
The blonde haired girl gently nodded her head as she waited patiently for you to finish your food.
(Y/N): Oh, just as a bit of a reminder since we never really introduced ourselves. I'm (Y/N), nothing really too special about other than the fact that I lived out here for a while now.
Lumine: I'm Lumine, I'm actually a traveler as well...! Wait, you said you live out here?.
(Y/N): Yeah. Used to live in an old village nearby until I up and left the place.
Paimon: But why leave?
(Y/N): Let's just say I outlived all of the people I care about. I might look like I'm eighteen or seventeen or whatever but I'm actually a whole lot older than that. Hmmm... Kinda hard to remember, actually...!
Lumine: Are you perhaps an Archon?
(Y/N): No, God no. I'm just someone that ended up messing up with some new magic, and here I am. I think that was a couple hundred years ago... Yeah, yeah now I remember!
Paimon: Woah, cool!
(Y/N): It's really not...!
Paimon heard the sadness in your voice as she covered her mouth in realization.
Paimon: O-oh, I'm sorry I even think about what it was like.
(Y/N): It's fine, I'm used to it but still... I tend to stay away from others just cause... Ya know, i end up outliving them... I know there was one person in Monstadt that's in the same situation but he lived a lot longer... I actually really liked the songs he wrote.
Paimon: You're talking about Venti!
(Y/N): Yeah, yeah! I haven't seen in over ten years!
Lumine: Well, rest assured he's doing just fine now. Especially since we just finished saving his old friend!
(Y/N): That's good to know, I oughta pay him a visit one of these days and have a drink like the good old times... But I also had thoughts about traveling the world too! I've been out here for, who knows how long, and I never even considered going anywhere!
You couldn't help but feel a small burst of energy as you spoke. It only felt right to discuss your feelings to a stranger that you had just met and even Lumine was intent on hearing you out.
(Y/N): Sorry, got a little carried away there...!
Lumine: It's fine, I'm actually enjoying our little conversation.
(Y/N): Oh, that reminds me! I'm all finished, so let me just check on your wound... Actually, give me just a moment.
You disappeared for a short while and returned with a small bucket of water and a cloth.
Paimon: Where are you keeping all of this stuff?
(Y/N): Magic backpack.
Paimon: A what now?
You brought forth a small metallic cube that didn't seem any special until a small roll of bandages quickly appeared in your hands. You then knelt behind the sitting Lumine and carefully removed the bandage around her head.
(Y/N): My childhood friend was always curious about technology and magic so as he grew older, he made this device that tapped into an near infinite space that can used to store belongings. I called it the magic backpack, but he didn't exactly like the name.
Paimon: Wow, do you have any food in there, too?
(Y/N): Paimon, you just ate!
Now that the bandage was removed, you began washing the bloodied area until you noticed that the bleeding had significantly slowed down. Reaching for your device, a bottle of green liquid was placed into your hand before applying it to another clean towel.
(Y/N): This will definitely sting, so might wanna mentally prepare yourself.
After pouring a bit of the liquid onto the towel, you carefully dabbed it onto the wound. Lumine tried her best to hold still as the liquid felt as if it was practically burning her flesh. After applying the medicine a few more times, you grabbed another fresh cloth, held it against the wound before applying another fresh bandage around her head.
(Y/N): All done, this should be all healed up by tonight. How do you feel?
Once the burning sensation finally disappeared, Lumine was quite surprised that her head was no longer in pain.
Lumine: A lot better! Thanks! What was that?
(Y/N): Just a simple medicine I made from back home. It works better for the simple wounds, like the one on your head. You can remove the bandages in exactly 12 hours, try not to remove beforehand because I won't be around to help you out.
Paimon: So you're a doctor!
(Y/N): Hardly, I'm just an alchemist with basic survival knowledge.
The traveler couldn't help but feel there was something more to your person but didn't want to push any further.
(Y/N): Anyways, you're free to stick around to let yourself heal up or you can continue on whatever journey you're on. Doesn't matter to me, I'll probably stick around for a couple more days before I find another spot.
Both Lumine and Paimon looked at each other before giving a nod as you were packing everything into your device to wash in a few moments. You kicked dirt onto the campfire fire, snuffing out the flames before you decided to make your way to a nearby river.
Some Time Later
(Y/N): Ah, you're still here.
After washing your cooling ware, you returned to your camping spot to find that Lumine and Paimon were still hanging around.
Paimon: That's because we have something to ask!
(Y/N): Oh? Shoot.
Lumine: Would you like to travel with us? We're currently headed for Liyue and it'd be nice to have another companion with us!
Paimon: That way, you don't have to be alone all of the time.
(Y/N): Liyue?! *small laughter*
Lumine: Is something wrong with Liyue?
(Y/N): No, no nothing at all. Just remembering an old flame when I was there not too long ago.
Lumine: So you're familiar! Maybe you can at least guide us?
(Y/N): Oh wow...! Okay, this is definitely quite something to take in... Hmm... Not to pry, ehhh, I'm definitely prying, but what business do you have out there?
Lumine: It's because im trying to find my brother and I'm hoping that the one called Rex Lapis would know any whereabouts. He's supposed to be making an appearance this year in Liyue so I'm hoping to get there as fast as possible.
(Y/N): Your brother? What's the story behind this one?
After another explosion about how Lumine and her brother were fighting an ancient God until, at some point, they were separated from each other. You decided to take a few moments to think about your next plan of action. Truth be told, you enjoyed the isolation, but today's encounter brought upon a reminder that you missed having someone around. Sure, there was your small time in Liyue, but you still ended up pushing them away because of your condition. For some reason, your time with Lumine is definitely pushing you to travel alongside her and see more of the sights.
(Y/N): This is definitely moving a little too fast...!
After a few more moments, your mind was eventually set.
(Y/N): Alright, I'll go. I won't lie, it was pretty nice to have someone listen to my little rant and it'd be a bit of a bummer to sort of just end it like that.
Lumine: I'm glad to hear it! Friends?
You quickly smiled upon hearing the word and extended out your hand for a fist bump, which she gladly responded by returning the bump.
(Y/N): Cool, if you'd like, we can always return to Monstadt for a bit to restock on supplies. I'm running pretty low and I kind of need to sell off some of these medicines anyways for a bit of Mora.
Lumine: Sounds like a plan! Let's start heading out right away before night falls!
You nodded as you gathered your camping gear, stored them in your device and kicked the tree that you were resting under.
Paimon: Erm, did you really have to do that?
You turned around and held out your hand to catch a large book in your hand, which you placed hanging behind your waist.
(Y/N): What? You think I'd go anywhere without any form of protection?
The other two were a little shocked to see the Vision hanging on the side of your coat as you walked past them to begin the journey.
Lumine: We learn something new about him every minute.
Paimon nodded in agreement as they quickly moved to catch up since you were already on the trail to Monstadt.
(Y/N): Not gonna lie, I could definitely go for some ale, we're visiting the tavern, first thing, right?
Paimon: I thought you wanted to get supplies!
(Y/N): Ohh come on, a drink every now and then never hurt anyone! You know what? Here, press this button on the side of the box.
Paimon watched asbyou pulled out the magic backpack and did as she was told to find a muffin in her hand.
Paimon: It's still warm!
(Y/N): Enjoy...!
Lumine: *whisper* What the heck was that?
End of Prologue!
