Cabin Fever
CABIN FEVER
I remember that we had lost our car keys.
We bickered for hours,
Trying to make sense of the situation --
Instead of handling it with ease.
You cursed at me and got mad.
You told me to leave and never come back.
Cabin Fever you got the best of us.
Instead of making things good,
You made it bad.
I remember how we stayed indoors.
Snapping at each other; slamming wars.
We used technology to get away.
But all I wanted --
Was for your arms to stay.
Cabin Fever why do you hold us against our will?
Happiness is what we crave.
Not an argument or a cheap thrill.
Cabin Fever did its job.
But without it,
We couldn't find ourselves within the mob --
Of mending, of truth.
Of love to fill the fruit.
If you asked me again if I'd choose that week of Cabin Fever --
I'd do it all over again.
So that we could tell ourselves
"We won't leave either."
