I am standing in the stirrups, leaning a little forward, feeling my body floating as my horse moves under me. The knight was way ahead of me, reaching up the cliff as the sun was setting, it made his blonde hair look golden.
The wind was blowing so hard that I only was seeing the knights blurred back. My eyes were watering too much from the breeze as the mane hairs of Royal were hitting my face. The knight stopped on top of the cliff, so I pulled the reins backwards. Royal slowed down a bit before halting next to the knight’s brown horse.
We stood on a small hill, facing a big wide open pasture gate.
At first, just our breaths and our horses' sabots clicking on the solid floor were audible.
Then, a deep sound, like an amplified volcanic eruption grows. It was vague at first. It got louder, tougher as minutes passed. I can feel the vibration in my chest. I looked up to stare at the Knight, who was holding back his horse.
Turning my gaze back to the gate as the booming noise reveals its cause. One by one, horses burst into the field in a flow of manes, tails, and hoofs. My heart overcame with the beat, pounding in unison with the trotters.
I felt a wave of passion and liberty of energy and power washes over me. My eyes welled up with tears, overwhelmed with emotions building up in my chest.
I smiled at the scene in front of me, wishing I was one of them, not trapped and a Queen to be.
“Can you answer at least one of my questions?” I gazed upon my left, looking at one of the perfect men.
“You ask too much, your majesty.” He replied as he watched an old man closing the gates behind the horses.
“Did you at any point consider that you are conversing with a princess?” I said that sentence as he let his horse trot.
“Indeed, a princess, not my Queen.”
“Destined to be-” I mumbled as I followed his pace.
“Uh, good luck with that.” And with those words, he caused his horse to fastins its pace, leaving me behind.
“Only one question,” I said as me and Royal already headed before him.
He sighs and stops. Once we passed the horses and got to a quieter place. He got off the cavalry.
The surrounding environment was a humid, dense brown-oak forest. The sounds of scurrying squirrels enveloped the tall trees. Birds chirped, placing themselves in their tiny houses.
“We'll be camping here, your majesty.” I clashed down, annoyed that he didn’t hold my hand to help me.
“Camping?” I asked, looking upwards at the branches hovering above us.
“Yes, camping,” he responded coldly, attaching the reins to the closest tree.
“Sir Frederick, will you answer my questions? Or else, I make sure I’ll be your next queen and cut your head off.” I yelled, seething inside, although my heart had the sound of the stallion's dashes. He scoffed passing by me.
The feeble-minded knight completed tying the horses in definite silence and turned unexpectedly confronting me. Faster than a striking light, he shut the hole between us, frowning down at me. Like I was the one dismissing him this entire time. Like he was the one with power over me.
“You say this phrase once more, and I'll forget you, walking on your own, is that clear?”
“Uh!” I felt my cheeks turning red as I looked at those cold grey eyes.
He backed off, leaving me searching for words.
“This man has no regard for anyone.” I whispered under my breath.
‘I'm the princess here! He is acting like an arrogant king. Okay! It's time to do some magic.’
I used my strength and built my power without him noticing.
'Make the glorious run terrible'.
The words came out of my mouth in a subtle whisper. I stood right behind him, sliding my hand on his chest. He stood stiffly. I sighed, leaning my head on his back.
"I know everything, Frederick! Those demonstrations you're hauling out are simply to sharp me on."
He remained there, not turning around but taking deep breaths, waiting for me to continue. I went after his jawline, following the line down to his neck. He recoiled automatically and turned around, holding my hands up. Penetrating me with his dark grey eyes.
"I know that I'm an excellent lady, and I really couldn't care less in case you're a knight," I said, gnawing my lips and batting my lashes.
He stops like a hardened divider with no outward appearance.
"You know, we can hit it immediately." I winked at him, getting his eyes checking mine, which influenced me to lament my words.
Maybe he's a witch seeker. Do they even exist?
I gulped as he approached, his face near mine.
"Who do you think you are?" He hissed.
I backed off, trying to act cool.
"Well, I am a loner Princess, every time I make love with someone, I hold them to the seventh heaven," I said, waving in the air.
"What do you mean by seventh heaven?" He arched his brow up.
"You know! Heaven." I look upwards at the sky, praying that God will forgive me after this.
"You mean Death?"
He made two strides closer to me, making my back hit a tree.
"Uh."
"If you ever endeavor to hurt my master, I will hurt you severely, do you get it?"
'Make the good come back'.
And I was back.
"Fine! But you reply to one of my questions." I said, crossing my arms together to make a space between him and I.
"Ugh... here we go again, are you two-sided or what?"
"Why didn't we get on a simple couch!?" He snorted defiantly.
"Are you dumb?! Who can ride a couch for an entire week? Without horses dying? And losing one while on a couch, we will certainly never make it, but without a carriage, we still can share a horse, if one of it passes away."
After answering me, he sloughed in a blink, searching for woods.
I sighed softly, sitting on a rock. Well, at least he answered… one question of my 40 questions, making them 39.
Hours passed before he got back, putting some woods in front of me. He started making a fire when it lit up. He sat next to me with no word.
"You should undress." He stood, arching his back, looking at me.
"Wh-hat?"
"Or would you like to stick with your filthy clothes?” I followed his gaze. The white gown was pitch black right now.
I gasped.
"Don't worry. I have a blanket you can embrace yourself with."
He reached for his horse, grabbing a thin mantle from the big bag wrapped on the back of his horse. I reached for Royal, ignoring the blanket handed to me. I grabbed one nightgown from my saddle bag. I strode back towards him, still observing me as I picked the blanket out from his grasp.
"You can strip off behind the tree and will get a bath tomorrow morning." He said, turning away without another word.
I seized the cover with me and began stripping off every piece of clothing, I felt eyes on me, but it was so dark. I was about to wear my nightgown. Bushes started shuffling.
"Frederick, is that you?" I lifted my hand hesitantly.
Two hard hands grabbed my waist, dragging me out of the shadows.
“Frederick!” I screamed in distress, the gripping hands drifted away, and I heard a loud thud. I slowly turned around, my nightgown held tightly on my naked chest.
My eyes were wide open at the scene in front of me. A weird green creature was on the grass with its head chopped off. My eyes drew up in terror at Frederick as he whipped away a stain of blue blood from the corner of his mouth. He swiped his tall sword to hold it down to the earthy ground.
“What- What in heaven was that?”
