Chapter Five: Storm

Chapter Five: Storm
Soon, the ocean began to crash onto the ship as it repeatedly swayed left and right. The sky completely turned black as there were no more sea cranes squawking above the ship. In fact, the sea cranes were no longer there. The thunder rumbled as the lightning brilliantly flashed across the sky.
The mast of the ship glowed pale purple with white sparkles scattered on it. All of the people on the ship gathered around it, looking at it in awe as it was a beautiful sight.
"Why is it glowing?," Aile asked. Before, she was in front of mast, but as more people came to gather around it, she was pushed behind.
"I don't know," Revi replied. He was standing right beside Aile as he was the last one to gather around the mast. "Why did you ask me?"
"I thought you knew," Aile said, placing her right hand on her chin. "Since you know about the tests and exams."
Revi smirked, "I always knew that I'm a genius." He put both of his hands on his hips. "But, seriously, although I knew about that, doesn't mean I know everything," he said, letting his hands fall back to his thighs.
The lightning repeatedly flashed brilliantly across the sky as all of the applicants ran into the biggest room of the ship to take shelter from the storm, which was led by the captain himself.
Strong winds blew onto the ship, helping the ocean to easily crash the ship. Thunders echoed into the ship as they rumbled across the sky.
Once Aile and Revi got into the room, they examined it. There was a small lantern tied in the middle of the ceiling with a long wooden table placed directly below it on the wooden floor. Many common brown barrels were scattered on the ground with a few big boxes sitting in the corner of the room.
A big wave hit the ship, letting it roughly sway left and right. Almost all of the applicants tumbled and fell onto the ground, including Aile. She tumbled across the ship as Revi tried to help her balance herself. Her brown jacket slightly fell off of her right shoulder, exposing her pale skin as her long brown hair messily scattered on her face.
Revi's black cap fell off of his head as he grabbed Aile's hand and pulled her up. "You alright?," Revi asked with a concerned expression covering his face, still holding her hand.
"Yeah, thanks," Aile replied as she struggled balancing herself, "you can let go of me now." Revi carefully yet slowly let go of her, waiting for her to fully gain balance. As she finally balanced herself, she examined her surroundings.
The long wooden table was turned upsidedown as it slide across the room, following the movement of the ship. Foods were scattered on the floor as some of them repeatedly bounced on the ground and into the air.
The spiky haired boy was balancing himself while rolling on a barrel. Leorio was sitting cross legged in the middle of the room while chewing a red apple with his eyes closed in satisfaction. Every time the ship swayed left or right, he would lean towards the opposite direction to properly balance himself. The blonde haired male was sleeping on a white hammock in the top right corner of the room. Despite the chaos that was going on, he could peacefully sleep without easily being disturbed.
"I want my mommy!," a big guy with pale purple hair and black glasses cried out loud as he hold onto a barrel to support himself. At this, Aile felt pity towards him as she felt the same way towards her mother too.
Meanwhile, in the main deck, the captain was steering the ship while he was singing a song. Suddenly, a large creaked from the door behind him disturbed him as he abruptly stopped singing and turned his head towards the door.
"Captain, the hole is leaking, we're taking out the water," Kanzo said as he hold the door knob with his left hand.
The captain groaned at the news, "let the leak drive out the useless passengers overboard," he said as he faced towards the steering wheel back and continued doing his work.
"Aye, aye, sir," Kanzo replied as his mouth slightly curved up in mischief. He closed the door.
"Time to port," the captain said to himself as he continued steering the wheel, controlling the direction of the ship. "Hang on!," the captain shouted with determination as he hold the steering wheel tighter.
The ship bounce into the air, as a bigger wave harshly crashed onto the ship. A lighting strike the mast of the ship, leaving a burnt black mark running along it.
As the ship escaped the storm, the captain left the main deck and went into the room where the applicants were, checking their condition. It was dark as the lantern was not working anymore. The captain scanned the room, squinting his eyes a little to adjust his sight at the darkness. "How pathetic," the captain commented, "these are the guys who think they are up for the Hunter Exam? What a joke."
In the corner of the room, a familiar voice chimed, "drink this water, and chew this herb." The captain turned his head towards the source of the voice. The spiky haired boy was offering a glass of water and some kind of plants, which the captain assumed it was the herb, to a skinny male.
Feeling like he missed something, the captain took a second glance around the room. Leorio was in the middle of the room, humming to himself. He was holding a small pink mirror in his right hand as he fixed his red tie, tucking it into his blue business suit. At the right corner top of the room, the captain noticed that the blonde haired male was sleeping on the white hammock.
"Finally, peace," Revi said. At this statement, the captain whipped his head towards the right corner of the room. Revi was sitting not far from Aile, while she was lying on the ground with all of of her limbs carelessly spread on the wooden floor, taking most of the space in the room as she sighed in relief.
Based on their condition after the big storm, it seems like those five people are more than ready to handle the Hunter Exam, the captain thought.
