5: Encounter With The Devil
I strode into the penthouse with many people casting glances at me, looks of recognition spread across their faces.
Bella leaped forward and hugged me tightly while I chuckled. "Thank you for coming, Gigi."
I pulled away and smiled, "My greatest pleasure."
With that said, I stalked off to my favorite place; the bar.
Ordering 'Blood Orange Old Fashioned', I waited for the bartender to finish his job before he handed the glass to me.
Thanking him, I made my way out of the bar as my eyes wandered to the second floor instead.
Taking in a few sips, I relished the taste of the liquor sliding down my throat as it burned.
Reaching the balcony, I took in a deep breath as the cooling breeze hit me. It felt so refreshing after a day's work, throwing away all the troubles for one night.
Leaning against the cold metal railings, I smiled in contentment as I gulped down the liquor in one go, knowing that I will get drunk faster.
But I don't care, I just want to sleep and wake up as if nothing has ever happened.
Cigarette lighting up from beside me pulled me back to reality as I looked towards the person with frustration.
He just had to smoke in such a beautiful place.
Chase.
My eyes widened in realisation as he stared at me with intensity in his dark orbs.
I looked away when I was unable to hold his cold, piercing gaze, gulping down a deep breath.
"Shouldn't you be taking care of my son?" He demanded while I gulped in horror.
Has he found out about it?
I looked towards him with a forced sweet smile, "What are you talking about? You must have mistaken me for someone else."
Immediately, he ditched his cigarette and pulled me into his arms while I tensed.
"Stop lying to me, Gemini. I already knew about it right from the start." He snarled, clenching his jaws in anger.
"And, what are you going to do about it? Hit me for lying to you?" I retorted back, instantly regretting my words.
His fingers dug into my skin tightly as anger coursed through his veins.
"Like I have promised five years ago, I will never lay a finger on you again."
"A promise? How can I believe you after you have turned into a heartless monster? That's the reason why I chose to keep your son away from you." I ranted, pushing him away from me as I looked away.
Instead, he pulled my chin to face him. "I didn't. It was you. If you haven't left, we would still be together and I would be a part of Leo's life."
"Chase-"
He pinned me against the nearest wall, glaring at me as he cut me off. "But you left me, and turned me into a monster. You left me alone for five damn years, don't ever expect me to forgive you."
I closed my eyes, feeling tears brimming inside of me as I bit my lips to hold it in.
I didn't want to leave him, I didn't have a choice.
By the time I opened my eyes, he was already gone. I felt a stab on my heart as tears fell down my cheeks.
My knees buckled before me as I slid down the wall, my tears flowing freely.
Even after five years, I still love him.
But we can't be together, as long as Roderick was still alive.
