"My client has no relation to the Jeon cartel, aside from his surname. We took the initiative to petition the court for a DNA test to prove that, your honor."

    "Understood."

Jeongguk sighs as the judge reads the results of the test out loud. He knew Taehyung wanted custody of the twins but he didn't expect him to try to use his family as one of his main arguments.

"And your client is currently residing in a temporary living arrangement, correct?" The judge asks looking at Jeongguk's lawyer.

"That's correct." He says. "He's an honorary graduate of a very prestigious university in Busan. Finding a job in his field won't take long. He'll be financially stable by the time of the next hearing I'm sure."

"I've made my decision." The judge says writing a few things down before he speaks again. "I grant sole custody of Kim Jaehyung and Kim Hanjae to Kim Taehyung. Granting Jeon Jeongguk with supervised visitations until he can provide proof of a stable income and living space. If you have any questions or concerns speak with our custody advisor at the front desk. Have a nice day."

Jeongguk shakes his head as the judge bangs his gavel. Ending the case before he stands and leaves the courtroom.

"That's a good start, Jeongguk. It really is, considering the situation." His lawyer says sitting down next to him and facing him. "In a few months they're gonna call us back and we're gonna have another go at joint custody."

"How long is a few months, Choi?" Jeongguk asks rubbing his eyes in aggravation. "You're telling me I'm not gonna be able to see my kids?"

    "You have supervised visits~"

"I'm their dad, I shouldn't have to be supervised just to see my own kids." Jeongguk says looking at him. "I'm not a bad guy."

"Of course you aren't. And you're doing the right thing." Choi says. "We just need to trust the process. Okay? Get out of that apartment with your friend. Get your own place and a good job. They'll have to change the custody agreement if you do those things."

Jeongguk shakes his head in disbelief as he stands and grabs his jacket. "This is such bullshit."

"Everything's gonna work out. I promise you that, alright?" Choi says standing as well. "Trust the process. Don't worry too much."

"Alright." Jeongguk sighs. "I guess I'll see you in a few months then."

"Six months max, three months minimum." Choi say shaking Jeongguk's hand. "Take care of yourself until then. Alright?"

"Yeah." Jeongguk says walking out of the courtroom. Sighing softly when he sees Taehyung outside with Seokjin and the twins.

He doesn't want to speak to Taehyung but he wants to say goodbye to the twins. So he puts his own feelings aside, as he usually does.

"I just wanted to say bye." He says when Taehyung and Seokjin notice him approaching them.

Taehyung steps to the side wordlessly as Jeongguk kneels down in front of the car seats to say goodbye to the boys.

Seokjin's phone pings with a notification, causing him to curse under his breath. "I have to go, Tae. Namjoon can't pick Saebin up from karate anymore."

"Okay, go. I'm fine." Taehyung says. "Thank you for coming with me."

"Sure thing. Call me if you need me." Seokjin says before rushing away.

Jeongguk sighs as he sits Hanjae back in his seat. He couldn't believe this was the first time he's seen them since the night they were born. They've already grown so much in the past few weeks.

"Do you want me to help you put them in the car?" He asks looking up at Taehyung. "Since Jin left."

"Oh, uhm, yeah. That's fine." Taehyung says, reluctance obvious in voice as he agrees to let Jeongguk help.

The ravenette doesn't let it get to him. He's been trying to see things from Taehyung's perspective lately, and as hard as it was, he was starting to understand why he was being so cautious. He would be too if the cops filled his head with terrible lies.

Taehyung grabs Jaehyung's car seat before leading the way outside to the car.

"You can just put the seat in the back. I'll strap him in." He says to Jeongguk after unlocking the door. He hated the awkward silence but he had nothing really to say.

Jeongguk sits the seat in the back of the car. "I can just do it."

"Do you know how?" Taehyung asks as he starts strapping Jaehyung in. "You have to do it the right way."

"I know how." Jeongguk says, he's watched so many videos that he could probably do it in his sleep.

Taehyung falls silent for a moment before remembering the DNA test that Jeongguk's lawyer petition the court for. "What was the whole DNA test thing about in there?"

Jeongguk seems shocked by the question. But he's mostly just shocked that Taehyung's speaking to him like he didn't just spend an hour criminalizing him for custody of his kids.

"I'm not really a Jeon." Jeongguk shrugs, ignoring the look on Taehyung's face. "It's a long story."

"So, your mom...?" The brunette questions.

Jeongguk shakes his head. "I don't know who my real parents are."

Taehyung falls silent after hearing that. He almost regrets even asking because it only made the tension between them higher.

They finish buckling the twins up before they start to go their separate ways.

"Text me so we can talk about visitation." Jeongguk says before Taehyung gets in the car. "We can make it the same time and place each time if that's cool."

"Sure." Taehyung nods before getting in the car. Starting it before driving out of the parking lot.

Jeongguk sighs as he checks the time on his phone. Minjun was supposed to pick him up after the hearing but of course he wasn't here.

He'd just have to walk back to the apartment.

~That night...~

Taehyung smiles as he watches Hoseok feed Jaehyung. Chuckling softly when Hoseok makes fun of him for eating too fast.

"So you saw Jeongguk in court today?" Yoongi asks sitting down next to Hoseok with Hanjae. "What'd he say?"

"Noting really. He seemed pretty pissed about the supervised visits. But other than that he didn't really say anything to me." Taehyung says, leaving out the part about the DNA test. "He didn't look well when I saw him."

"He did just get out of prison. Maybe he's still getting over that." Hoseok says. "I'm sure he's fine. Don't worry yourself."

"I'm not worried." Taehyung says before changing the subject. "Anyways, on a more positive note. I have a job interview tomorrow."

"Really?" Yoongi asks with a smile. "Where?"

"Seoul Primary." Taehyung smiles. "They called me this morning and asked me to come for the interview."

"That's great, Tae. I'm so happy for you." Hoseok smiles. "You've always wanted to teach and now you're going to do it."

"It's just an interview. But I hope it goes well." Taehyung says. "I'm just a little worried that it's too early for me to start working. The twins are barely a month old."

"I'm sure they'll let you start when you're ready. You just had kids." Yoongi's says. "They can't hold that against you."

Taehyung nods, Yoongi's words do little to make him feel better. He was more worried that they'd turn him away if they knew he was a male carrier. Not if they new he had two newborn babies.

"When you get the job. We'll celebrate." Hoseok smiles. "Our little Taehyungie accomplishing his goals."

"Oh please, hyung." Taehyung says rolling his eyes at Hoseok. "I'm an adult."

"I don't care how many babies you have you're still our little Taehyungie." Hoseok says pouting down at Jaehyung.

Taehyung shakes his head at his friend as the front door opens and Seokjin walks in with Namjoon and Saebin.

"Hello, hello." He says. "We brought food."

"Perfect." Yoongi says standing, handing Hanjae off to Taehyung to help Namjoon and Seokjin.

"Saebin be gentle with the babies." Seokjin warns when he catches the seven year old rushing up to Taehyung.

"He's fine, Seokjin." Namjoon says. "Taehyung's holding him."

"What's there to eat?" Hoseok calls from next to Taehyung. "I hope there's nothing spicy."

"We got you and Taehyung your own special orders, Hobi. I swear this time." Namjoon calls back. "We didn't forget about you guys."

Taehyung smiles as he watches his friends bicker and banter as they passed around the food. He always felt better when the apartment was full of sound and commotion.

"Hobi, did your ugly face make the baby cry again?" Yoongi calls when he hears Jaehyung crying.

"Haha, very funny, asshole." Hoseok says as he rocks Jaehyung. "Bring me my food, jerk."

"You can sit him down, Hobi." Taehyung says pointung to Jaehyung's rocker. "He'll stop crying."

"I wanna hold it, hyung." Saebin says looking down at Hanjae. "What's this one called?"

"His name's Hanjae, remember? He's wearing green. Jaehyung wears yellow." Taehyung says. "Sit right here, you can hold him."

The front door opens again and Jimin enters, adding even more caos to the apartment when he holds up the wine.

"What would we do with our designated sommelier." Hoseok says dramatically as Jimin hands over the wine.

"It better not be any of that cheap shit from last time." Yoongi says making Jimin roll his eyes.

"I already told you that Jin and Namjoon brought the wine last time." He says. "I never buy cheap wine."

"The reviews were good when I looked it up." Namjoon argues. "How was I supposed to know it was cheap?"

    "It was fifteen dollars!"

Taehyung carefully places Hanjae in Saebin's small arms. Making sure his head was properly supported. "Don't tense up. He can tell when you're scared."

"He can smell fear? Like a dog?" Saebin asks looking up with a sparkling humor in his eyes.

"No. He can just feel when you're uncomfortable." Taehyung chuckles. "Just relax."

"Hyungie?" Saebin starts, looking down at  Hanjae. "What happened to JK?"

"Jeongguk?" Taehyung asks, slightly surprised by the question. "Well, he lives somewhere else."

    "Why?"

"Because we decided that it was a good idea."

    "Why?"

    "Just because."

    "Because why?"

Taehyung sighs softly. "Just because of adult things that you wouldn't understand. Just know that he's okay and that we're better off like this. Okay?"

"That's what my daddy says about my other dad." Saebin says looking up at Taehyung. "Did JK leave too? Like my dad left me? Because he didn't want them?"

"No, Saebin. And I'm sure your dad did want you. Who wouldn't want such a sweet little boy." Taehyung says bopping Saebin's nose. "Jeongguk didn't leave because he didn't want the twins. He's just not here right now."

"Okay." The seven year old smiles looking down at Hanjae. "I can't wait for him to come back. Cause then me, him, and the twins can play together."

"Yeah." Taehyung smiles sadly. "You're a sweet boy, Saebin."

"Okay." Saebin says making Taehyung chuckle. "Look, his eyes are closed."

Taehyung smiles at how amazed Saebin is that Hanjae is asleep. He was so young and innocent. Yet he still felt discarded and unwanted by his father because of Seokjin's decision to keep him out of his life.

He didn't want that for his boys, as much as he wanted to cut ties with Jeongguk. He couldn't.

Jeongguk was their father. And Taehyung would never forgive himself if his children blamed him for not having a relationship with their father.
