It has officially been a week since Taehyung was put on bed rest. He has been doing everything Dr. Song told him to do with help from Jeongguk. Without Jeongguk's help staying in bed would have nearly been impossible.

"You said you were going to take a break from that," Jeongguk says leaning against the doorframe of Taehyung's bedroom. Crossing his arms as he watches Taehyung type away on his laptop.

"I did take a break." The brunette says without looking in Jeongguk's direction. "I'm almost finished. I see no reason to stop now."

Jeongguk sighs softly as watches the younger. The tone in his voice making him feel bad for him. He sounded so sad and unmotivated. "Are you doing okay? I heard you crying again last night."

"You do know that it's kind of weird to listen in on people, right?" Taehyung asks dully. Keeping his tired eyes trained on the screen of his laptop. "I'm fine. I'm just emotional, I guess."

"Are you sure that's it?" The ravenette asks tilting his head in concern. "Nothing's bothering you?"

"You're bothering me right now." The brunette says finally looking over at the older. "I said I'm fine, Jeongguk. I'm just trying to finish my homework. So, could you please?"

Jeongguk bites his lip as he nods. "Alright. I'm gonna go get your things from Namjoon, then."

"Alright," Taehyung says returning to his work. Ignoring the sigh that Jeongguk releases as he turns to leave.

The ravenette shoots Namjoon a text telling him that he was on the way before grabbing his keys and leaving the apartment. This past week has forced the pair to at least be cordial to one another for Taehyung's sake.

Jeongguk had to go over his apartment multiple times for things Taehyung needed. And he allowed Namjoon to come to his to visit his friend. It was a challenge for both men but they put their differences aside, whatever they were, for Taehyung.

Jeongguk genuinely had no problem with Namjoon before, but after hearing about how he didn't support Taehyung's decision to move in, things felt strained between them.

When he gets to Namjoon's apartment the older meets him at the door with a bag of the clothes Taehyung requested.

"Thanks." The ravenette says taking the bag before turning to leave. They never really exchange much conversation so it wasn't unusual for him to just leave.

"How's Taehyung?" Namjoon asks before he goes. "He didn't answer when I called earlier."

"He's fine. He had a tough night but he won't talk to me about it." Jeongguk shrugs dismissively. He was trying to hide his worry but he was failing. "He's been wanting me to give him space lately."

"You're worried, aren't you?" The older asks, surprising Jeongguk with his concern.

"Yeah, but there's not much I can do besides what he asks." The younger says with a sigh. He just kept holding on to the idea that Taehyung would eventually come out of the depression he seemed to be falling into.

"Don't give him space. Even if he asks you to." Namjoon says hoping that the advice would help. He didn't particularly care for Jeongguk but he did care for his friend. "He doesn't actually want you to leave him alone."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure he does," Jeongguk says thinking back to the numerous times last week that he was locked out by Taehyung.

"I'm telling you he doesn't. Take it or leave it." The older shrugs. "I'm his best friend, I know him."

Jeongguk almost rolls his eyes but he nods and accepts the advice. "Thanks. I'll see you around."

"Mhm," Namjoon says shutting the door as Jeongguk leaves.

The ravenette sighs as he walks back down to his car. Throwing Taehyung's bag in the passenger seat as he thinks about what Namjoon said.

Has Taehyung's coldness towards him this past week been a cry for help? Did Taehyung actually want him to stay when he told him to leave? Did he want him to come to comfort him when he heard him crying through the night?

"I'm a fucking idiot." The ravenette curses at himself as he starts his car. He grabs his vape pen despite hearing Taehyung's voice in his head telling him to quit. He had been smoking more than usual lately, he blames it on his stress.

He decides to do something nice for Taehyung to try to make him feel better. Sure he'll probably get yelled at and told to fuck off, but maybe Taehyung will still appreciate the thought.

~Later that day...~

Taehyung lays in bed scrolling through his phone when there's a knock on his door. He rolls his eyes in aggravation. He told Jeongguk to leave him alone when the door was closed.

"Leave me alone, Jeongguk." He calls without moving. "The door's closed for a reason."

He waits for a response but surprisingly there is none. Leaving Taehyung wondering why he knocked but didn't come in.

He sits up and looks towards the door, still waiting for a response. "Jeongguk?"

The brunette huffs as he gets out of bed and walks over to the door. Pulling open and finding a large gift bag sitting in front of the door. He frowns as he looks down the hall for Jeongguk. Leaning down and grabbing the bag before going back into his room.

He shuts the door behind himself before sitting down on the bed. Reaching into the bag and pulling out the card that sits on top.

Taehyung-ah, hopefully you opened the card before the gift. Because I want to offer a serious disclaimer. I'm not good at getting gifts but I did try really hard. Okay, maybe not that hard, but harder than I usually would! I hope this makes you feel better, even if it's just a little.

You're doing great. Stay strong, okay? ~Jeongguk

Tears form in Taehyung's eyes just from reading the short message. He chuckles a little as he sets the card aside to open the gift. He doesn't care what it is, it's already perfect because it's from Jeongguk.

Taehyung pouts adoringly as he pulls each item from the bag. There are mostly self-care items including face masks, bath bombs, candles, body washes, and stress-relieving essential oils.

The brunette laughs a little at the belly masks and stretch mark lotions. He hadn't even thought about getting these things for himself.

At the bottom of the gift bag is a lavender-colored weighted blanket. Taehyung smiles as he pulls the last gift from the bag. Sighing sadly as he thinks of how terrible he's been to Jeongguk.

He didn't mean to be such an asshole he just hated feeling like a burden to the ravenette. It was easier to just be alone than to constantly feel like he was bothering him.

Taehyung stands from his bed, leaving the gifts behind and walking across the hall to Jeongguk's room. Knocking on his door a few times before waiting.

When the door opens Taehyung immediately wraps his arms around Jeongguk's neck. Not bothering to even try to suppress his tears.

    "Tae~"

    "I'm sorry, Jeongguk. I'm really sorry~"

Jeongguk shushes the younger as he hugs him back. "Hey, don't cry. I wasn't trying to make you cry."

"I'm crying because I'm happy," Taehyung says through his tears. Pulling away from the hug to wipe his face. "I've been being so shitty towards you and you don't deserve it."

"It's fine, Taehyung. I know you've had a tough week." Jeongguk says gently drying the younger's tears with the pads of his thumbs. Smiling fondly at him as he dries his face. "I get it."

"You shouldn't have gotten me anything. You've been doing so much for me all week." The brunette says taking Jeongguk's hands from his face. Holding them in his as he continues. "I've been such an asshole to you."

"I wanted to get you something. I thought it'd make you feel better." The ravenette says with a dismissive shrug. "It was just a little something. And I totally didn't mind being your doormat for a week."

Taehyung smiles softly as he hugs Jeongguk again. "Thank you. Not just for the gift, for everything. I don't know what I'd do without you right now."

Jeongguk feels his heart swell in his chest at Taehyung's words. The smile on his face fading to just a small one as he forces himself to ignore that feeling. He knew that Taehyung wasn't interested in him in the way he wanted him to be.

"You're welcome, Tae." He says hugging the younger backing. Hoping that Taehyung couldn't hear his heart hammering against his chest.

Taehyung pulls away from the hug first. Drying the last of his tears with the back of his hands.

"Hey, since you don't have to lay down all day anymore you can come out front while I cook dinner." Jeongguk offers to try and cover up how hard he's crushing at the moment. Forcing a small smile as he does so.

"You don't have to cook, you've been cooking all week. We can order something." Taehyung says taking the ravenette's hand in his and leading the way to the living room.

"But Dr. Song said that it was best to follow the regimen." The older says letting Taehyung pull him along.

"Yeah, until I started to gain an appetite." The brunette says plopping down on the couch. Letting go of Jeongguk's hand to grab the ravenette's cell phone from the table. "Here, I've been craving vinegar so let's order some jjolmyeon."

"Vinegar?" Jeongguk frowns as he takes his phone. "So you're actually going to start eating weird shit now?"

"What's weird about jjolmyeon?" Taehyung asks scrunching his eyebrows.

"Nothing. I just don't think it tastes like vinegar." The ravenette says as he looks up a place to order from. "But it's fine if you do."

Taehyung rolls his eyes and drops the topic. "You never let me check out that hard drive for you. Did you figure it out?"

"Not yet," Jeongguk says still looking down at his phone. "I'll figure it out though."

"Come on, Jeongguk. Just let me do it." The brunette groans with a pouty expression. "It's not gonna take long. The password can only be, what, sixteen characters? I can get into it in an hour."

"Why do you know how to hack a computer?" The ravenette asks looking up at the younger. His brother's voice in his head telling him that everyone isn't who they say they are.

Of course he knew he was being ridiculous for even starting to be suspicious of Taehyung. He knew Taehyung wasn't a threat.

"My dad works for an IT company. He literally taught me and my brother how to hack into computers for fun." Taehyung chuckles. "I don't just go around hacking people though. I'm not a troll."

Jeongguk falls silent, looking off for a moment in thought. The expression on his face making Taehyung worry.

"What?" The brunette asks. "Did you bury someone alive and lose their location in your external hard drive?"

"Huh?" Jeongguk says looking at the younger with a confused expression. "No. Why would you say that?"

Taehyung frowns. "I was just joking, Jeongguk. Lighten up. What the hell is even on the hard drive?"

"Either help me unlock it or don't. It doesn't matter what's on it." The ravenette says looking back at his phone.

"Fine. Don't tell me." The brunette pouts as he stands to go to the kitchen. "Get it and I'll start it while we wait for the food. Okay?"

Jeongguk stands wordlessly to grab the laptop. Dialing the number for the take-out place they were ordering from as he does so.

Taehyung grabs himself some water as Jeongguk disappears down the hall. Glancing at the laptop that sat on the kitchen table. Briefly wondering why the ravenette had two laptops.

"It's right here. I'm gonna step outside for a second." Jeongguk says sitting the laptop on the couch before heading out of the front door. His eyes staying glued to his phone as he does so.

Taehyung doesn't like the suspicious behavior but he brushes it off. He was probably just going to smoke or something.

Either way, it wasn't really his place to question Jeongguk.
