Jeongguk stares down at his phone after Taehyung hangs up, his expression distant and lost in his thoughts.
"Was he upset?" Jimin asks walking into the kitchen.
Jeongguk shakes his head, still looking off as he thinks about Taehyung's response when he told him about Jimin. It wasn't what he was expecting to hear, it wasn't what he was hoping he'd say.
"What's wrong?" Jimin asks looking at the ravenette with a concerned expression. "You look upset."
"No, I'm just thinking." He says meeting Jimin's eyes. "I just...I still don't get why you showed up now. You keep saying that you couldn't stay away anymore, but why now?"
"I don't know. It just felt like the time." Jimin says. "I'm sorry if I'm throwing everything off."
Jeongguk sighs, pushing his hair away from his face. He didn't know why he expected Taehyung to be the one to tell him the truth about this situation. He just wanted the brunette to tell him that something didn't seem right and that it was too sudden. He wanted Taehyung to tell him that there had to be a solid reason why Jimin chose this day to show up.
But he didn't, he just told him to go for it. And it was conflicting because a part of him wanted to. He genuinely had feelings for Jimin, and if he wanted him he was willing to take him back. He was just afraid he was making an impulse decision by jumping back in so quickly.
"I have to work in the morning," Jeongguk says checking the time on his phone. "You can stay if want."
"I won't, I have some things to take care of tomorrow morning," Jimin says. "We should go out soon though."
"Sure." The ravenette says smiling softly as he leads Jimin to the door. "Let me know when you get home."
"I will." He says hugging Jeongguk. "Thank you for listening to me today, you didn't have to but I'm happy you did."
Jeongguk hugs him back. "It wasn't a problem." He says before pulling away. "Be careful."
"I will be." Jimin smiles before turning to leave. Waving once more before disappearing down the driveway.
Jeongguk shuts the door after he's gone, sighing to himself as he goes to get ready for bed.
He had a lot to think about now.
~
Jimin glances back at the door as he walks away, releasing a tense sigh when Jeongguk closes it. He walks down a couple of blocks where Chiwon was supposed to be waiting for him.
"How'd it go?" The older asks when Jimin climbs into the passenger seat.
"It went." He says buckling his seatbelt. "Let's just get the fuck out of here, I'm freaking out."
"What happened?" Chiwon asks as he drives.
"Nothing, I just don't feel right doing this," Jimin says leaning against the window. "I can't believe I'm doing this."
"You act like you're killing the guy or something." Chiwon chuckles. "The only thing you're doing is helping me get back what's mine."
"When did his family steal that money, Chiwon? Fifteen years ago?" Jimin asks looking at him. "You do realize that he was eight years old fifteen years ago, right?"
"Please, Jimin, don't make me out to be the bad guy right now. I didn't put a gun to your head and force you to come here, alright? You could've said you weren't doing it and that would've been the end of it." Chiwon says. "You're here because you need that money just as much as I do."
"If he gets hurt~"
"He's gonna get hurt, I already told you that." The older says focusing on the road. "You can't be the good guy and the bad guy, Jimin. There's no in-between, you're either all in or all out."
Jimin sighs, he knew it was too late to still try to save face. He was already helping Chiwon set Jeongguk up, there was no coming back from this. "Whatever."
"When you hang out next get him to come here," Chiwon says handing Jimin a folded piece of paper. "That's where I need him."
"Where is this?" Jimin asks reading the address.
"It's right around my neighborhood." The older says. "If you can get him there I'll handle the rest."
"How bad are you going to hurt him?"
"Bad. But I'll hurt you worse if you give me away."
Jimin looks up at Chiwon. "You're threatening me now too?"
"I'm not getting myself killed because you want to punk out." The older says. "Just do what I say and we won't have a problem."
"Alright," Jimin says rolling his eyes a little before looking out the window.
He was in too deep...
~Wednesday...~
Taehyung drives one of his dad's cars to Jeongguk's house for the weekly brunch they had planned. He was reluctant to go since Jimin would be there. It was hard to tell if he was anxious because he hadn't seen him in so long or if it was because of his feelings for Jeongguk. Either way, he didn't want to see his old friend, but he also didn't want to make things awkward by not showing up.
He gets there as Hoseok and Yoongi park their car in the driveway. He parks on the curb before climbing out of the car.
"Hey, babe!" Hoseok smiles as he waves from his car.
"Hey, Hobi." Taehyung chuckles as he meets them in the driveway. "You guys are early."
"I know, we wanted to get here on time for a change." The older says side hugging Taehyung. "Are you doing okay?"
"Yeah." The brunette nods. "Can I help you guys with anything?"
"No, we got it. Go ahead inside, we're right behind you." Hoseok says leaning down to the passenger seat. "Get out of the car, Yoongi."
"I'm coming, Hoseok, jeez," Yoongi says from inside the car.
Taehyung chuckles as the two of them start to bicker about something. He walks inside without them, knocking before going in. "It's me, Jeongguk."
"Taehyung?" Jimin meets Taehyung at the door, smiling softly when he sees him. "Oh my goodness, how are you?"
"Jimin," The brunette says forcing a smile when he sees him. "I didn't know you were here." He lies, mostly because he had no idea what to say.
"You look like you're ready to pop." Jimin chuckles, pointing out Taehyung's swollen belly.
"Just about," Taehyung chuckles through his teeth. "W-Where's Jeongguk?"
"Oh, he had to run to the store," Jimin says. "I'm watching the boys."
Taehyung's smile falters. "What?"
"Yeah, he forgot something and he ran to go get it." The older nods. "I told him I didn't mind."
The front door opens before Taehyung can respond, Hoseok and Yoongi walking in going back and forth about something.
"It doesn't matter~"
"It matters to me, Hoseok, you can't say that just because it doesn't matter to you~"
"Hey, guys." Jimin smiles at them.
"Hey," Yoongi says walking to the kitchen without acknowledging Jimin.
"Don't be fucking rude, Yoongi." Hoseok says following him. "You should've stayed home if you were going to be an asshole..."
Taehyung walks to the living room where he finds the boys playing on the ground. He frowns, why did Jeongguk just leave them with Jimin?
"Yoongi and Hoseok seem to be in a fight," Jimin says walking into the living room. "What's wrong?" He asks when he sees Taehyung's expression.
"Nothing." The brunette says sitting on the couch. "Jaehyung, come here."
Jaehyung's head turns at the sound of his name, he crawls over when he sees Taehyung's open arms.
"So, who's the dad?" Jimin asks sitting on the ground across from Hanjae. "That guy you're dating?"
"I'm not dating him anymore," Taehyung says kissing Jaehyung's cheek.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought since you were wearing the ring..." Jimin says. "So he's not the dad?"
"He is. But he's not going to be in the baby's life." Taehyung explains. "It's complicated."
"Jeongguk told me that you were in some trouble with him." The older says. "I guess you never worked it out?"
"Jeongguk told you what exactly?" Taehyung asks, it was getting harder to hide his irritation.
"Nothing really," Jimin shrugs. "Just that things got pretty bad between you and Chiwon. I'm sorry you were in that situation, that really sucks."
"Yeah..."
"At least you got away before the baby came. That could've been really bad~"
"I don't really like to talk about it." Taehyung says firmly as he looks up at Jimin. "Drop it."
"It's nothing to be ashamed about, Taehyung. Domestic violence is more common than you'd think~"
"I said drop it." Taehyung snaps. "Who the hell are you to tell me what not to be ashamed of?"
"I didn't mean to upset you." Jimin says with a surprised expression. "I was trying to help~"
"I don't need your help, Jimin." The brunette says picking Jaehyung up as he stands. "Come on, Hanie, come with dada."
Hanjae stands, toddling over to Taehyung and taking his extended hand.
"Are you mad at me now?" Jimin asks looking up Taehyung.
Taehyung doesn't respond, taking the boys to the kitchen to put them in their high chairs. He hears the front door open as he finishes fastening them in.
"Hey, Tae, you made it." Jeongguk says walking into the kitchen with a few groceries.
"We need to talk." Taehyung says turning to him with a hard expression. "Now."
Jeongguk's expression drops slightly, his eyebrow raising in confusion. "What's wrong?"
Jimin walks into the kitchen. "Can I do anything?"
Taehyung walks out of the kitchen, expecting Jeongguk to follow.
"Yeah, hang on a second." The ravenette says following Taehyung to the living room. "What's wrong, Taehyung?" He asks meeting him.
"You told Jimin about Chiwon?" The brunette asks with an annoyed expression. "Why?"
"I didn't~"
"You're lying."
Jeongguk sighs. "Alright, I told him. But I didn't go into detail."
"Why'd you tell him in the first place?" Taehyung asks throwing his hands up. "It's none of his business."
"I know, I'm sorry. He was here the day you disappeared and he was just wondering what happened." Jeongguk explains. "I didn't go into detail about anything~"
"You said too much either way, Jeongguk." Taehyung says. "If I wanted him to know I would've told him myself. I don't need him acting like he's sorry for me."
"He's your friend~"
"He's not my friend anymore." The brunette says. "And why'd you leave him alone with the boys?"
"He's watched the boys before, Taehyung." Jeongguk says, still highly confused by Taehyung's anger.
"That was before he popped up out of nowhere after seven months of not speaking to you." Taehyung says. "I would expect you to be more cautious, since people aren't always who they say they are."
"Are you serious, Taehyung? This is Jimin we're talking about. You've known him for years." Jeongguk says. "And just because you're a bad judge of character doesn't mean I am."
"Screw you, Jeongguk." Taehyung says snatching his keys off the couch before walking towards the door.
"You're being ridiculous~" Jeongguk asks grabbing him by his upper arm.
"Don't~!" Taehyung pulls away from Jeongguk, looking at him with an unreadable expression behind his eyes. "Don't grab me like that, Jeongguk."
"I'm sorry, I didn't~ I shouldn't have grabbed you. I didn't meant to~"
"Stay away from me." Taehyung says before walking out the front door, slamming it behind himself.
"Are you kidding me right now, Yoongi?" Hoseok asks following a very upset Yoongi to the front door.
"Leave me alone!" Yoongi snaps at his boyfriend. "I can't fucking stand you right now."
"You're the one being over dramatic!" Hoseok snaps back. "I already told you that I don't care~"
"It shows, you asshole." Yoongi says snatching open the front door. "Figure out where the fuck you're going tonight because if you come home I'll fucking kill you."
"What~?" Hoseok sighs when Yoongi slams the door in his face.
Jeongguk and Hoseok stand there in silence for a moment before the front door opens. Namjoon and Seokjin walk in with confused expression.
"Uhm, is there a reason why Yoongi and Taehyung are leaving in tears?" Seokjin asks looking between them.
"Damnit." The two say in unison as they walk separate ways, Hoseok following Yoongi outside and Jeongguk going upstairs.
Jimin walks out of the kitchen. "Oh, you guys made it."
Seokjin and Namjoon get so wrapped up in greeting Jimin that they forget about Taehyung and Yoongi momentarily.
Jeongguk sits upstairs for a few minutes before calling Taehyung. He doesn't expect him to answer but he tries calling anyway, groaning when it goes straight to voicemail.
"Taehyung, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have grabbed your arm and I shouldn't have left the boys with Jimin. I'm an idiot, I'm sorry. Please call me so we can talk...I can't take you being mad at me. Call me, please."
