"Open another one, Jaehyung."
Taehyung smiles as he watches Jaehyung and Hanjae open their gifts with tired eyes. It was almost eight in the morning when Jeongguk woke everyone up for gifts. Jaehyung and Hanjae didn't have a clue what was going on but they were excited to see the presents around the tree.
"These are yours, Hanie." Jeongguk says directing Hanjae to his pile of gifts.
"Look, Jaehyung," Taehyung says picking out one of the presents. "Don't you want to open this one?"
Jaehyung looks up from the lego train set he was trying to get out of the box. "Mhm,"
"Then come get it," Taehyung chuckles.
Jeongguk helps Hanjae open his gifts while Taehyung helps Jaehyung. The two of them smiling as they watch the boys open their gifts with messy hair and sleepy eyes.
"Do you like it?" Jeongguk asks showing Hanjae the robot Taehyung got for him. "Dada picked it."
"Dada," Hanjae repeats as he looks at the robot in the packaging.
"So we're not tricking them into believing in Santa?" Taehyung asks looking at Jeongguk.
"I'm not giving a stranger credit for all the work we did." The ravenette says rolling his eyes.
Taehyung chuckles softly before returning his attention back to Jaehyung.
"Grab that bag, Hanie," Jeongguk says standing Hanjae up and pointing him in the right direction of the gift bag. "Give it to dada." He says nodding at Taehyung as he begins to gather the torn up gift wrap.
Hanjae drags the large bag over to Taehyung as best he can before going back to play with the robot, even though it's still in the pack.
"You really suck, Jeongguk, you know that right?" Taehyung says looking up at him.
"I know, I can't help it." The ravenette chuckles. "Technically speaking, though, it's not really for you."
"I would've been fine if we agreed to gifts." The brunette pouts. "You're making me feel bad."
"Don't feel bad, I really didn't want anything." Jeongguk says. "I couldn't not get you something, seriously. It's your first Christmas since you were a kid."
Taehyung sighs, he felt bad receiving gifts from Jeongguk when he didn't get him anything. He knew Jeongguk was trying to make his financial load as light as possible since he wasn't currently teaching, and this made him feel worse about his current position.
"Open it," Jeongguk smiles as he watches him. "It's for the baby."
Taehyung tries not to be upset as he starts to unpack the things in the gift bag. Jeongguk went out of his way by getting him gifts.
"I tried to pick neutral colors, I really did," Jeongguk warns as Taehyung pulls the first item out. "It's harder than I expected."
Taehyung smiles down at the little clothes. He felt himself getting emotional as he looks at how small the clothes were in his hands. "I can't believe the boys used to be this small."
Jeongguk chuckles. "Right, time goes by fast. It'll go by fast with this one too."
Taehyung nods. "Thank you, Jeongguk, really. You didn't have to do this."
"I wanted to." Jeongguk shrugs before nodding to the bag. "Keep going." He says before patiently watching Taehyung take everything out of the bag one by one.
Jeongguk smiles softly as Taehyung looks at the gifts for the baby. A fond look in his eyes as he looks at them. "I know you didn't want me to get anything for the baby but I figured this was a good enough excuse to."
"Thank you, Jeongguk." Taehyung says folding the clothes back up. "It means a lot to me, you have no idea."
"You're welcome." The ravenette says, laughing when Taehyung opens his arms for a hug.
Taehyung hugs him, closing his eyes for a moment to control the tears forming in them. He was genuinely so grateful for Jeongguk's gifts for the baby. Even though he wishes he would've gotten him something as well.
Jeongguk pulls away first, smiling down at him. "I'll go make breakfast. Just yell if you need me."
"I will." Taehyung chuckles, petting the ravenette's hair before he stands to go to the kitchen.
"Me do?" Jaehyung says as Hanjae tries to take the Spider-Man toy he was playing with. "Me do it!"
"Let dada see your robot, Hanie." Taehyung says pointing to the toy. "That's bubba's toy, you can't take it."
"Me wanna, dada~" Hanjae starts, kicking up a fuss when Jaehyung takes the toy.
"That's Jaehyung's toy, you have to play with your own." Taehyung says snapping his fingers and pointing to the robot. "C'mon, don't throw a fit."
Hanjae goes back to his toy with a pout, carrying it to Taehyung. By the time the brunette takes the toy out its packaging and puts the batteries in Hanjae is obsessed with it.
Taehyung shows him how to make it walk and talk before letting him play with it by himself for a while.
"Come on guys, let's go to the kitchen." The brunette says after taking his time to stand up. He takes the boys to the kitchen where Jeongguk is cooking as he talks on the phone.
"Okay, hyung, I won't keep you. I know you want to spend time before your parents get there." Jeongguk says wrapping up the conversation. "I'll call Hoseok to talk more about Wednesday."
Taehyung is strapping Hanjae into his high chair as Jeongguk hangs the phone up. "What's happening Wednesday?"
"Hobi and Yoongi want to do breakfast at their place instead of here." The ravenette says. "We'll probably start meeting at Seokjin and Namjoon's after that since Yebin's here."
"You guys really meet every Wednesday, huh?" Taehyung chuckles softly.
"Yeah, you've been here for the last few." Jeongguk says looking at him. "Why?"
"No reason really. Every Wednesday just seems like it can be a bit much." The brunette says. "Why not every other Wednesday?"
"I don't know." The ravenette shrugs. "Seokjin would come see me Wednesday mornings before I went to work because Saebin had piano lessons, or whatever extracurricular that Seokjin was forcing him into at the time."
Taehyung chuckles. "He keeps him busy doesn't he?"
"Right, he's never not doing something." Jeongguk chuckles. "Anyway, that's how it started before he started bringing Hobi then Yoongi started coming. I started taking Wednesdays off so they didn't have to rush off every time."
"I think it's really cool." Taehyung says. "You guys grew a lot since you first met."
"Yeah." Jeongguk sighs. "When I really needed someone they were there for me. We were all there for each other really."
Taehyung smiles softly at Jeongguk's words. Durning the time he spent with Chiwon he never really thought about how much his absence affected his friends. He was so focused on surviving day to day that he had little time to think of anything but himself and the twins. "I'm proud of you guys."
"Thanks," Jeongguk chuckles.
"Well, I'm going to get Jaehyung ready." Taehyung says holding his hand out for Jaehyung. "I'll be back for Hanjae when I'm finished."
"Be careful, Taehyung." Jeongguk says turning to him. "If you want, I can do it when I'm finished."
"I can do it," The brunette says rolling his eyes a little. "I'll be done with both of them by the time you're finished."
"Fine," The ravenette says reluctantly. "I'll be done in about thirty minutes."
"Start the timer." Taehyung jokes as he leads Jaehyung with him.
Jeongguk chuckles as he disappears out of the kitchen.
True to his word, Taehyung manages to finish washing up and dressing the boys in the time that Jeongguk takes to finish breakfast.
"Did you doubt me, Jeon Jeongguk?" The brunette asks as he brushes Hanjae's hair, tucking the strands behind his ear to keep them out of his face.
"Of course not," Jeongguk chuckles. "I had faith in you up until the very last second."
Taehyung laughs as he sets the brush on the counter. "Their hair is getting long again, Gguk."
"I know," The ravenette says glancing at the boys in their high chairs. "I'll see if my mom will come sometime next week."
"I don't get your fear of barber shops." Taehyung says attempting to tuck Hanjae's hair again.
"My mom's the only person that's ever cut my hair." Jeongguk shrugs. "Plus it's free and she does a decent enough job."
"The lady at my mom's shop that cuts my hair does a good job." Taehyung chuckles.
"Hm," The ravenette shrugs walking over with they boys' food. "I rather my mom do it."
"Okay." Taehyung says before going to sit down.
"Will you stay here again tonight?" Jeongguk asks looking at Taehyung with a smile.
"If you want," The brunette smiles, he really didn't mind staying with Jeongguk. He enjoyed being here with him and the boys.
"I want," The ravenette says making Taehyung laugh.
After Jeongguk sets the twins up with their breakfast he and Taehyung sit at the island together to eat.
"So your birthday's coming up," Jeongguk starts. "Do you plan on doing anything?"
Taehyung's eyebrow quirks. "Yeah, I plan on having a baby."
"I mean, obviously." Jeongguk chuckles. "You know what I mean."
"I don't want to do anything. There's too much going on inside my head to even think about my birthday." Taehyung shrugs. "It's not important."
"It's important to me." Jeongguk says. "I get why you don't want to celebrate though."
"I don't really care that much." The brunette says. "Have you talked to Jimin today?"
"Jimin? No." Jeongguk sighs. "He's been wanting to hanging out for a while but we don't really talk unless he's asking me to come to his."
"Why haven't you gone?" Taehyung asks.
"Because I've been busy with the boys." Jeongguk says. "But I'll have to go, I need to talk to him."
Taehyung nods. "Well, I'm sure he'll understand that you've been busy."
Jeongguk shrugs. "Why are you asking about him all of a sudden?"
"I just kind of feel bad for him." Taehyung sighs. "He doesn't have family here so he usually spends Christmas with either Namjoon or Yoongi and Hobi. He's probably alone."
"I'm sure they called to check on him." Jeongguk says reassuringly.
Taehyung shrugs before changing the subject. "I'm glad we did Christmas this year, Gguk. It was a good idea."
Jeongguk smiles at his words. "I want to do it every year."
"We should." Taehyung nods looking over at the twins. "The older the boys get they'll start to understand more."
"Right. This can be like our first real family tradition." Jeongguk smiles. "Right?"
"Right," Taehyung says, laughing at the excitement in Jeongguk's expression. "You're sweet, Jeongguk."
"Here we go." Jeongguk says rolling his eyes as he stands to make himself some coffee.
"I'm not even arguing at this point. It's non-debatable." Taehyung shrugs. "There's not even a discussion there."
"There's room for debate if I disagree~"
"You only disagree because you like bickering with me~"
"That's not true, I just don't get why I have to be sweet. I have so many interesting qualities." Jeongguk says pouring himself some coffee. "I'm smart, I'm driven, I'm a good dad~"
"You're sensitive, you're caring, you're in tune with other people's emotions~"
"Why do you have to say it like that's an insult?"
"I'm not, you're just taking it as one because you're in denial."
Jeongguk opens his mouth like he's about to say something but he doesn't have a comeback.
"You can be as smart and driven as you want to be," Taehyung says. "But you still get excited over Christmas lights and you take off work to have breakfast with your friends."
"Okay, I'm sweet. Who cares?" Jeongguk says leaning against the counter.
"It's endearing." Taehyung says. "It's not a bad thing, not to me anyway."
Jeongguk takes a sip of his coffee to hide the smile forming on his face. The rest of the morning they just watch Christmas movies while the kids play with their toys.
Dinner consists of rice cake soup and japchae that Jeongguk spent all night cooking. Fortunately, it didn't turn out to be a complete disaster.
After dinner, Jeongguk sets up the touch bracelets during the last movie they chose to watch. Playing around with them instead of paying attention.
"Pick a color." He says randomly as Taehyung focuses on the movie.
"Why?"
"Just pick."
Taehyung hums for a moment. "I don't know, purple?"
"Okay, my color is purple and I picked green for you." Jeongguk says reaching over and taking the brunette by the wrist.
"Why'd you even ask me to pick a color if you were gonna choose for me?" Taehyung asks as Jeongguk fastens the bracelet around his wrist.
"My touch will show up as purple on yours and your touch will show up green on mine." The ravenette explains. "First rule of the bracelets~"
"Oh my god," Taehyung chuckles. "You said you wouldn't be annoying."
"No, I'm not," Jeongguk promises. "If we tap it three times there's an emergency."
"Okay." Taehyung nods. "Emergency meaning we should call or just go to each other?"
"Just go," The ravenette says unlocking his phone. "They show our location and the battery percentage on the watch and our phones."
"Ah," Taehyung nods as he watches Jeongguk click around the app on his phone.
"Make sure you keep it charged." He says before locking his phone.
"I will," Taehyung says looking down at the watch. "Thank you."
Jeongguk smiles softly before focusing on the tv. "You're welcome."
Their movie binge comes to and end at around eight that night. They've watched every Christmas movie they could think of and it was getting late for the boys to be up.
"We can put them down together." Taehyung offers before Jeongguk tells him to stay put.
"Okay," The ravenette agrees. "I'll take Jaehyung since he's the fighter."
"Cool." Taehyung chuckles as he stands to get Hanjae.
They get the boys ready for bed together before putting them down for the night. Deciding to head to bed themselves after they've sure the boys are okay.
"See you in the morning." Jeongguk smiles as they go to their separate rooms.
"See you in the morning." Taehyung responds. "Merry Christmas, Gguk."
"Merry Christmas, Tae."
