"Are you sure you're okay with this, Jeongguk? I can bring them back after the party if you want me to."
"It's cool, Taehyung. I know you spent a lot of time planning the party, just enjoy it. Don't worry about bringing them back."
Taehyung smiles gratefully as he scoops Hanjae up, holding him on his hip before kissing his chubby cheek. "Say bye-bye to Appa, Hanie."
Jeongguk smiles when Hanjae reaches for him, taking the one year old into his hands.
"Come here, Jae. It's time to go bye-bye." Taehyung calls to the other baby, laughing when he sees him attempting to climb up onto the couch.
"He's gonna fall, Tae." Jeongguk says when he sees him.
"He's fine." Taehyung says going to get him. "I'll bring them back tomorrow so you can still get your full time with them."
"Alright." Jeongguk says letting Hanjae down when he starts to squirm in his arms. "Is Joohyuk gonna be there?"
"I'm not sure. I don't bring him around the boys much." Taehyung says picking Jaehyung up. "You know you can come if you want. I won't let anyone make you uncomfortable."
"I'll pass." Jeongguk laughs as he takes Jaehyung from Taehyung. "Enjoy it, though. And send pictures."
A lot has changed in the past six months. Taehyung and Jeongguk have both been going to family therapy regularly and it has really helped to shape their relationship around the twins. Helping them to put their feelings aside to do what was in the best interest of the boys.
Since therapy they've been able to communicate and to understand each other more than they have since they met. It felt good to be able to openly voice their opinions without being afraid of saying the wrong things. Their therapist even gave them advice on how to cope with their own mental health individually.
Taehyung hasn't had many panic attacks since the first one at Jeongguk's house. When he did he took the therapists advice and worked himself through them. Calling a friend or his parents when he couldn't go through it alone.
Their therapist referred Jeongguk to a doctor to get him on medication to help manage his highly functioning depression. He was reluctant about medication in the beginning but it helped, even though he felt horrible all the time in the beginning he saw the difference in himself. His thoughts weren't as dark and now that his and Taehyung's relationship wasn't as strained, he was able to rely on him and Jimin when he felt down.
One of the biggest changes were their relationships. Taehyung met his current boyfriend at work, he was picking up his nephew from an after school activity when they ran into each other. He wouldn't call it an instant connection, but after Joohyuk practically begged him for his number they've been inseparable.
Jeongguk didn't exactly know what to call his relationship with Jimin. Jimin wasn't the type of person who was obsessed with labels. Whenever they talked about it he said that he didn't want to complicate things. Jeongguk didn't feel the need to argue, they were both happy so it wasn't such a big deal to him. He was just glad he was able grow and accept that his relationship with Taehyung was over.
He would always love him as the person who gave his children life, but there was nothing else there. And he was finally ready to accept that, they both were.
"Say bye-bye to Appa, Jae." Taehyung says as he goes to put Hanjae's shoes on.
Jaehyung whimpers softly at the word bye, his bottom quiver when Jeongguk starts to put his shoes on. "Ma-ma~"
"Say Appa, Jaehyung." Taehyung tries, pouting at the one year old when he sees him already getting worked up. "Can you say Appa? Or pa-pa?"
"Ma-ma!" Jaehyung wails, kicking his feet and making it harder for Jeongguk to put his shoes on.
"Here we go. I knew that mommy doll Seokjin got him was going to be a problem." Taehyung sighs looking at Jeongguk. "Just pick him up."
"Mommy~!" Jaehyung cries, babbling through his tears as he reaches for Jeongguk.
"I know, baby, I know." Jeongguk bringing Jaehyung into his arms, standing with his shoes in one hand as he shifts the one year old to his hip. "You have to go with dada, Jae. You're gonna miss your birthday party if you don't."
Hanjae's eyes are wide with worry as he watches his brother cry, his bottom lip starting to quiver as well.
"Please don't start, Hanjae." Taehyung says picking him up. "Bubba's fine."
"I'll go ahead and put him in the car." Jeongguk says holding his hand out for Taehyung's key.
"He's gonna scream all way home." Taehyung says handing him the keys. "He never cries when he has to leave me."
"Maybe he loves me more." The ravenette jokes as he takes the keys, laughing at Taehyung's expression before walking out of the house.
As he's strapping Jaehyung in Jimin's car pulls up next to the curb. He smiles when he sees Taehyung coming out with Hanjae.
"Hey, Tae. I thought I missed you guys." Jimin says greeting his friend with a smile.
"We're just leaving." Taehyung chuckles. "If you couldn't tell by Jaehyung's screaming."
Jimin laughs as he hugs Taehyung before softly pinching Hanjae's chubby cheeks. "He is such a cutie."
"Did you finish the cake?" Taehyung asks.
"Yes, and it's gorgeous." Jimin smiles. "I'll bring it when I come to help set up."
"Perfect. Thank you, I'd be lost without you." Taehyung dramatically as Jeongguk comes and takes Hanjae.
"Hi," he says to Jimin.
"Hi," Jimin chuckles as Jeongguk kisses him.
Taehyung smiles at the two of them, he thought they were such an odd pair. Who would've thought Jeongguk and Jimin would actually have chemistry?
"I should get going. I haven't even started setting up." Taehyung says checking the time. "Do you want me to put him in the car?"
"I'll do it." Jeongguk says going to put Hanjae in his seat.
"I'll be over with the cake in an hour." Jimin promises Taehyung.
"Okay, thank you again, Jimin." Taehyung says hugging his friend. "See you in a little bit."
"See you." Jimin says walking into the house.
Taehyung sighs as he walks to his car. "Last chance to change your mind and come to their party."
"Hard pass." Jeongguk says closing the back door. "I'll be fine, Taehyung."
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then." Taehyung says getting in his car, starting it before backing out of the driveway. He waves at Jeongguk as he pulls off.
Jeongguk sighs before walking into the house. "Jimin?"
"What?" The older calls from the kitchen.
"How was work?" He asks after walking into the kitchen.
"Bearable." Jimin says jokingly as he examines two different bottles of wine. "Do you think Cabernet is dryer than Château?"
"It's a children's party, Jimin."
"Every kid party turns into an adult party after seven o'clock."
Jeongguk rolls his eyes at Jimin. "Cabernet is dryer, but Château is more expensive."
"Wow, you actually listen to me when I'm talking?" Jimin asks looking up at him. "What a surprise."
Jeongguk steps behind Jimin, wrapping his arms around his waist. "Of course I listen to you."
"Don't start." Jimin laughs, walking out of his embrace. "I have to be at Taehyung's in an hour and I still have to go pick up the cake."
"So what?" Jeongguk says smiles as he pulls Jimin back into his arms. Kissing the exposed skin on his shoulder before trailing up his neck.
"So, I have to go." Jimin says turning around in Jeongguk's arms. "You know I hate being late."
"Who said anything about being late?" Jeongguk asks looking down at him.
"Jeongguk," Jimin laughs. "I'm serious."
"Don't worry about being late." Jeongguk says lifting Jimin up onto the counter, causing the older release a startle sound. "I'll get you there on time."
"I hate you." Jimin says halfhearted you as he gives into Jeongguk, closing the space between them in a hungry kiss.
Jeongguk kisses him back with the same eagerness, already working on getting his clothes off.
Jimin breaks the kiss. "Ten minutes."
"Twenty."
"Fifteen."
Jeongguk groans, lifting Jimin from the counter and carrying him to the living room where he lays him down on the couch. Jimin laughs when Jeongguk gets straight to the point.
He had to make do with only fifteen minutes.
~Later that night...~
"I really appreciate you guys coming for the twins. It means a lot to me."
"You don't have to thank us, Tae."
Taehyung smiles as he hugs his friends. The party was a success. His friends all came to help celebrate his boys, his parents even showed up for a few minutes before it was over. The twins weren't completely aware of what was going on the entire time obviously, but they did enjoy making a mess of themselves with the cake.
"Call or text when you get home, please." Taehyung says as he walks his friends out.
"We will, be safe, Taehyung." Yoongi says as he leaves with Hoseok. "Call if you need anything."
"I will. Bye, Saebin." The brunette says to the eight year old as he leaves with Seokjin and Namjoon. "See you guys later."
"See you later, Tae." Jimin says hugging him. "Call if you need anything."
"I will, thank you for everything, Jimin." He smiles before he walks out of the apartment.
He closes the door behind his friends with a sigh. Walking to the kitchen to pack up the rest of the food and cake. He had his fair share of wine tonight so he feels a bit more tipsy than he has since he had the twins. Of course he wasn't drunk, he wouldn't get drunk with his babies in the house, but he was relaxed.
His phone rings against the counter as he's cleaning up, Joohyuk's number showing on the screen and making him smile. "Hey, you." He answers.
"Hey, you." Joohyuk chuckles on the other line. "I was gonna call earlier but I didn't want to interrupt the party."
"It's fine, I'm not doing anything." Taehyung says sitting down at the kitchen table. "Are you just getting off now?"
"Yes, I finally got away." Joohyuk sighs. "The hospital's been crazy all week. Must be a full moon."
"Right." Taehyung chuckles before sighing softly. "I miss you, I didn't get to see you yesterday."
"I know, I miss you too." Joohyuk says. "When can I see you again?"
"I don't know, you could come over now." The brunette says, his tone saying everything he wasn't. "I really miss you."
Joohyuk laughs on the other line. "Do you miss me or do you miss something about me?"
"Both." Taehyung laughs, his face flushing. "I want you."
"You've been drinking, haven't you?" Joohyuk asks knowingly.
"What makes you think that?"
"You're literally the horniest drunk I've ever met, Taehyung. One sip of alcohol and you'll screw whoever walks your way."
"I think I'm too horny to be offended by that asshole remark." Taehyung says rolling his eyes. "Just come over, please? I don't wanna be alone."
"You're inviting me to your place while the boys are there?" Joohyuk asks. "Is that a drunk person's decision or is it progress?"
"I don't know." Taehyung says. "I wouldn't question it if I were you. You might make me change my mind."
"I'm already on the way."
"Perfect."
