Chapter 5

Peter, John, Michael, and I talked for two hours straight, yet we came to no conclusion of how to save Tink.

"Could we ask for help from a pixie?" I asked.

Peter scoffed. "Only if you want to be thought insane."

"Alexia has a point," said John. "In the past two hours, we haven't thought of a single thing. Maybe someone else could help? Just an idea."

"I see your opinion, John and Lexa, but think of it this way," negotiated Peter. "If you asked any random person you saw, you'd be thought insane. We have to find someone who knows the actual answer, and will understand our reasoning. Understand?"

We both nodded.

"But-" peeped up Michael. "What if we try asking the Fairy Council? They might be able to help."

Peter grinned from ear to ear. "Now that's an idea."

"No," I snapped. "Just no. The Fairy Council will get very suspicious, and we can't have that. They can't even know that I'm here. I'm not supposed to be here anyways."

"Why can't they know you're here?" asked Michael.

"Yeah. I would like to know that myself," agreed John.

"Do tell us," urged Peter.

I threw my hands up in the air frustrated. "Look, I don't know! Bad things could happen. I'm from the future, so people could use that to their advantage. And they could hurt me, and I'd disappear in the time I live in, or I could end up being hurt there. What if I was killed? I would zap from existence!"

Peter sighed. "Boys, she has a valid point. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to my Lexa."

Excuse me? Did I hear him correctly?

I coughed. "Um, excuse me, but I don't think I heard you correctly..."

"Nope, you heard me alright," assured Peter. "That's right. I said 'my Lexa'. So if that's what you thought you heard wrong, well, that wasn't wrong."

"Uh, Peter..." I mumbled. I don't know what to say. I'm flattered.

Why don't I just say that?

"Peter," I whispered. "I don't know what to say... all I can say is I'm extremely flattered."

"Good." He smiled. "Then I did my job of flattering you."

I blushed.

"Like we were saying," continued John, "we shouldn't tell the Fairy Council. Correct? Or did I not hear that right? My ears aren't that well... but whatever. Alexia, not trying to be mean, but about what you said earlier about someone possibly hurting you... I wouldn't mind if they did."

I stepped real close to John, so I was right up in his face. "Now you listen here, little boy," I grumbled. "You-" My voice suddenly softened. "You need to be nicer." He nodded fearfully, and my heart broke. I never meant to scare him.

Peter put an arm around me. "Don't worry, Princess. His one fear is always being a social reject. Use it wisely against him."

"I'm sorry, John. I didn't mean to scare you in any way," I sobbed. "I am so, so sorry."

John nodded and didn't look at me again.
