Chapter 4

I woke up with a nauseating jerk. I felt sick to my stomach. What's wrong with me?

"Hey Lexa," whispered Peter as he walked through the door quietly. "How're you feeling?"

I grumbled, "Not very well."

"Yeah," he whispered. "You've got a high fever."

"I wish I didn't have a fever," I mumbled. My head (and whole body actually) felt very cool, like someone was icing it over.

I touched my forehead, and I saw that it wasn't sweltering anymore. It was now as cold as an ice cube.

Peter smiled. "In Neverland," he said, "all wishes are mostly granted, unless they are very extravagant."

"Oh," I replied. "Could you please give me an example of an extravagant wish? Please?"

"Sure," he laughed. "An extravagant wish is something very big, like wishing for someone to love you, wishing to be somewhere else, wishing to look different, etc. Only small and necessary wishes are granted here in Neverland. The law passed a few weeks ago."

I grinned. "That's awesome! Any other laws that I could use to my advantage that I should know about?"

"Um," thought Peter. "No... wait. Nevermind. There is one. This passed just yesterday. 'If one would like some help, just summon a pixie. The chant is "Pixie, my dear, please come aid me right here." Only use it if necessary.' It's quite useful."

I laughed. "How many times have you used this new law already?"

"Only a few times," he grumbled.

I laughed harder.

"Are Michael and John up?" I asked.

"Yes," Peter replied. "They've been up for awhile. John has been making some warm soup, while Michael has been cooling water to lay on your head. It's still there now, just so you know. You could take it off if you want. They've been such great helps. You have no idea-"

I smiled. "Thanks Peter. Tell them I say thank you also. Oh, I almost forgot! We can start our quest, I think you called it, today, correct?"

"Yes," Peter answered. "We can start that today. But I need to speak to you first. Privately."

I smiled. "Peter, if you haven't noticed, we are alone..."

"Right. Sorry. How stupid of me not to realize," he mumbled bashfully. "Anyways. What I was going to say, what ending did you wish it was?"

"Um," I replied. "I didn't really have a different ending in mind, but I didn't really care for the original. So that's why I wished for a different one. Kind of. I'm not really sure what the actual reason is... quite staring at me like that Peter! It's scary!"

Peter laughed harder than I've ever seen before. "Sorry!" he exclaimed. "I didn't mean to frighten you! And the reason I was staring at you, is I think you are gorgeous." He whistled through his teeth. I've always wanted to do that.

I blushed. "Thanks? Anyways, could you please just tell me one thing. Do you... um... this is really awkward for me to say... but do you um... like me... or something...?" I mumbled.

Peter stopped laughing. "You certainly asked that out of nowhere," he grumbled. "But to answer your question, yes I do. But please do me a favor. Please do not judge me by my confidence. I'm not trying to be a showboat or sound really arrogant, but it's just who I am." Peter took a deep breath. "I'm just naturally an over-confident person. Please don't use that against me."

I smiled. "Don't worry. I would never use that against you. Now, shall we get on with our journey, or quest thingy?"

Peter smiled back. "Yes," he said. "Let's get on with our journey or quest thingy."

We went into the kitchen to get Michael and John, except we couldn't find them.

"Michael!" I called. "John! Where are you?"

"We're over here Alexia!" said Michael.

Peter and I both followed the sound of his voice, and our ears lead us to a hidden room.

"Peter," I whispered. "What is this room? And how did they find it?"

Peter gulped. "This room is where we held Tinkerbell's funeral. I wish she hadn't died. I miss her so much. She was my best friend. Why did she have to die? Why-" He choked on the last part.

Then it dawned on me.

I know the different ending I want.

I want Tinkerbell to still be alive, not dead.

I smiled.

Peter became rather cross with me. "Are you smiling because you think it's funny that she died? If so, you may leave at once."

I heard myself gasp. "No! Oh my gosh, Peter, no, I'm not smiling because you're sad. I smiled because I realized what I want the ending to be. I want Tinkerbell to be alive, not dead. That is the ending I want!"

Peter was so happy, he kissed my cheek. "Lexa, you're a genius!" he gushed. "But wait. How would we revive Tink? We know what your ending is now, but we don't know how to get that ending. UGH! WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO HARD?!?"

Peter plopped down on the floor, crying angry tears.

That shocked me. Peter doesn't seem like the emotional type. But then again, he's going though some tough times.

"Shh," I soothed. "Everything will be okay. I don't know at the current moment how we'll revive Tink, but I'll find out some way. I won't rest, or leave the story, until I do."

"Wait," he whispered. "You're... leaving?"

"I think so," I whispered back. "I can't stay forever in Neverland, can I? I'm not originally apart of the story. I don't belong. I'm only here to fix your story, so you have a happy one, not a sad one."

Peter's voice became much stronger. There was no sign in his tone that he was crying. "When you leave-" he began. "-I want to come with you. I know we will hopefully have revived Tink, but I still want to come with you. Your world fascinates me. Well, if your world is like Wendy's it does. I'm assuming it is. But anyways, I want to come with you. I don't care that Neverland, my current home, is in the sky. No matter what barriers keep us apart, I will always find a way to come back to you. Do you understand? Even if you say no, I'm still coming with. Okay?"

I gasped. "Oh Peter, don't get me wrong, I would love for you to come to my world and live with me! That was always one of my biggest dreams! But-"

"Why not let that dream come true then," he whispered.

I cleared my throat. "Like I was saying, I would love for you to come..." I choked on my words. "...but you can't. This is your story. It's named after you. And if you leave, there is no story."

Peter looked at me longingly. "Look, Lexa, I know what you're thinking. But think this. Once we revive Tink, my new ending is done. It's complete. There is no more story. So after all of it is written down, I'm free from an already planned plot. I can do whatever I want. And I want to come to your world. Let that be a new chapter to my story. Please."

John obnoxiously cleared his throat. "Alright, you guys have worked it out. Peter will go to Alexia's world after they rewrite his story, but pay attention please. Quit making plans for the future. We are still in the middle of his story, and we are no where near the end."

"I agree with John," piped up Michael. "We aren't close to the end yet."

"Alright," said Peter, as a giant smile crept up onto his face. "It's settled then. After we give my story a 'happily ever after', then I'll go live in Lexa's world, and maybe even live with her. But for now, let's focus on reviving Tink."
