Secondly, I really have to say this but the votes are discouraging😓. At the end of every chapter, there's a star icon, tap on it at the end of every chapter. It doesn't bite and it doesn't suck up your data😭. Encourage me by voting please😭, it means a whole lot.😔

So I've finally entered two digits😑 in more than four months.

*Cries, wheezes, gasps, rolls in mud and wails*

So you cannot say sorry, wow! I might as well just go back😭

Oyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Line up according to your height!🤡

I'm not mad, my village people are out to get me😑, nothing serious to be very honest☺️.

Get ready to learn chemistry 😌❤️✨, I love that subject to death😭😭💞

So one person I know you're excited to meet, or maybe not? I no know jarey🤡😑. The media above is a picture of her😌.

Let's Sha meet her.🙃💞✨

~10 - CHEMISTRY CLASS °

" I'm in control, total control."
----------†±†----------

~Amarachi

He's been ignoring me since he came to school, but it can only last for a while.

He always does this, he acts like I'm invisible but later comes back to me. Always.

He can't stay away from me for so long, nobody can.

Cause I have him wrapped around my fingers.

I've pushed the right buttons, and I'm in control, total control.

I could feel his gaze on me, intently, but I just continued talking with my girls.

"Oh, and this tiktok challenge has been bursting my mind!" She screamed so loud that I had to cover my ears. "Because, omoh, Jesus Christ, Jehovah! God!" I couldn't take it anymore.

"Benedicta stop shouting."

"My name is Benny, abeg, stick with it." She sassed and I rolled my eyes. "And you're just pained," she continued and I raised my brow in confusion. "Benedicta, I beg rest."

"See another one o," These my friends are on a mission to completely block my ears, because why all these screaming?

And before I knew it, they were both standing in front of each other, singing along to the tiktok song and I was almost doubling over in all my laughter because the challenge was supposed to be for couples, not best friends.

"Bitches come and go bruh, but you know I stayed." They said in extremely low and sultry voices and and went in for the kiss to end the challenge but stopped midway, laughing like mad people, making heads turn in our direction. I live for the attention!

"Omoh, single life is boring!" She lamented. "I know right?!" Benedicta just had to follow suite. "I want a man! A tall, strong, muscular, fine and rich man!" She was legit pissing me off now.
"Mofe, abeg shut up.

"Hey, Amarachi don't shout at me abeg. Shebi it's because you have Austin that we should not hear word again, ba?" She rapped out in one breath, wearing a teasing smile on her face, and I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

"What's 'ba'? That word is just all shades of stupid. It sounds so weird." We all turned in the direction of the new voice. "So what's up?" She said settling down on Mofe's table.

"Oh, we were just talking about how single life is boring jarey, but people like you cannot understand. You have plenty men in your life." Rita looked at Mofe with eyes that were almost bulging out of their sockets and we couldn't help but laugh.

"Plenty men ke?"

"Yes na." For the record, Mofe says a lot of rubbish.

"I only have one man, Mofe, and that's Dola." She said with a dreamy voice, looking up to the skies like Dola wasn't a human being. "Ewww," I really tried but I couldn't hide my displeasure and got a slap on my arm in return. Ouch!

"What about Jerry?" Someone tell Mofe to shut the hell up!

"Mofe, abeg," the fair girl said in between laughs. "Boyfriend, bestie, two different things." She said it slowly like she was trying to explain to a two-year old.

"And who would believe that the female disciplinary prefect is just very dumb." It was how Mofe changed moods so fast for me though.

"Shut up joor," she said sulking and I couldn't help the low chuckle that escaped my lips.

"Amarachi, I want to speak to you," I smiled inwardly. Just as expected.

"Why?" I asked not meeting his gaze.

"Can we not do this here?"

"I don't want to talk to you."

"Please?" He pressed on and I fought the urge to scoff out loud.

"Shebi it's until they steal your man that your eyes will clear na," She said, playing with her braids and I fought the urge to stand up and yank out her tongue. "Mofe!" I said, shooting her a deadly glare and she shrugged in reply. Ode!

Turning to look at him this time, I have in. "Fine. Where?"

"Somewhere private." He said, taking my hand as we left the class together.

"So?" I asked folding my hands across my chest, wearing a straight face and he sighed, taking steps towards me. "Don't!" I warned, raising my palm to him, telling him to back the hell off.

But as usual, he doesn't listen. He continued taking steps towards me until he was almost in my space. Almost.

"Amarach-"

"Shut up!" I cut him off, my voice louder than I intended for it to be.

"But I-"

"But you what? Austin, what?! So now from babe or baby to Amara, now Amarachi? Seriously?" I queried, my voice having a slight edge to it. "Babe I'm sorry, I was just in a really bad mood," he debunked, rubbing his fingers against his temples as if frustrated and I couldn't help but feel a pang in my chest.

"Being in a bad mood isn't an excuse for you snapping at me in public. In front of those lowlifes? Since when, Austin? Since when na? Tell me! I want to know!"

"I'm sorry,"

"And what exactly are you sorry for?" I mocked.

Silence.

More silence.

And more silence.

"Okay now, you're just wasting my precious time." I said sidestepping him to walk away but was stopped by his hands firmly wrapped around my wrist. "Austin, let me go," I said, my voice coming low.

"Why? Why should I let you go?" He asked, coming to stand before me, snaking his arm around my waist. "I said I am sorry, babe." I could perceive the stench of weed eluding from him but chose to ignore it. "You made me an object if mockery, Austin, and you thinking sorry is going to fix everything?" I chuckled emotionlessly, wriggling out of his hold, watching his expression contort into a slight frown. "You think sorry is going to suddenly make everything better?" I said turning my back to him, taking a few steps away from him.

"I haven't slept well for the last two nights, you didn't even try to reach me or anything," he said taking steps towards me and I tried not to falter my stance.

He shouldn't affect me so much. I shouldn't let him.

"You asked me to go away," I stated using air quotes. "And I wasn't going to humiliate myself more." I hissed.

"I'm sorry, okay?" He said, enveloping me in his arms, burying his head in the crook of my neck, inhaling my scent. "I missed you so much, you know that right?" He asked his breath hot, fanning against my skin. "Yes, I know," I replied my voice coming out low and breathy.

And like he knew he was having an effect on me, I felt him smile against my skin.

"Babe, you know that right?" He whispered against my skin, and for some reasons, I couldn't find my voice, so I just nodded my head on response.

Tough girl in the mud!

And he started planting soft kisses on my skin, making me squirm in his hold and I felt him smile against me.

"You missed me too, I know you did." He said in a husky voice, turning me around to meet his gaze. His lips quirked up in a deep smirk, eyes holding emotions I couldn't place.

"Austin I-I uhm," I stuttered.

"Yeah?" He pressed on pulling me closer until there was barely any space between us.

"We- I uh-uhm," I fluttered my eyes shut, took a few deep breaths to gain my composure.

Now, who's in control? My subconscious mocked.

"Austin, we shouldn't be doing this here. If someone sees us, things could get out of hand." I stated, opening my eyes to meet his gaze. "We're on the roof, babe, nobody would pay attention to us," he said nonchalantly, tucking an errant braid behind my ear, cupping my face with his soft hand, brushing my cheeks with his thumb, worshipping me with his eyes and j felt knots tightening within me.

"I just don't want to get in trouble, I don't want to be trending for wrong reasons, I'm just not-"

"Shhh, it's okay, okay?" He cut me off, his voice breathy.

"We can't get in trouble, remember? Nobody messes with me," he assured me. "And since when do you care about trending for wrong reasons? Shebi trend is trend?" He stated matter-of-factly. "Yes, trend is trend," I said in a low chuckle.

"Now that's like my baby girl," he said in a low husky voice, pulling me closer as he continued on his mission to mark my neck.

★★★★

"Slow down na," he whined, but I ignored him, increasing my pace.

"Just slow down a bit," he continued and I could hear him drag his feet lazily against the ground.

We were so caught up in the moment, that I didn't even hear the bell ring. Not until returned to our block, meeting it dead silent, indicating that classes were on.

"We're going to kneel down," I cried as I walked hurriedly into the class to gather my things so I could head for the lab.

"We don't really have to go, you know?" He said, striding nonchalantly towards me. "Austin, please if you don't want to go, it's fine but I'm not missing chemistry class, it's important to me. You know that, right?"I said sidestepping him to hear for the lab.

Taking light jogs towards the lab, and I could already see my classmates kneeling down in front of the lab. I groaned out loud in frustration.

Then, I spotted one of the teen models kneeling amongst them and I felt a smile spread out on my face.

Honestly, I really didn't Like the fact that MHS is so keen on this punishment for coming to classes late, but then, the fact that there's no special treatment for these teen celebrities makes it a tinsie winsie better. And trust me, Melville high had a lot of teen celebrities.

I got to the entrance of the lab and joined them, going down on my knees.

"So, let's begin," he said walking towards the board. "Since we're still in the first week, let's just look at topics from last term, okay?" He asked rhetorically. "ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1," he said scribbling it on the board.

"Listen to me," he said now facing us. " I'm going to let y'all off the hook cause it's the first chemistry class of the term, I don't tolerate tardiness and I won't, okay?" We all nodded in response. "Come in," that was all it took for the dead silence class to turn into a frenzy. "Amarachi," I turned in the direction of the voice to see Benedicta and Mofe, beckoning for me to come over. After settling down between them, I saw Austin walk past me.

Oh, wow.

"Settle down quietly." And the class was dead silent again.

In MHS, there were I my a few teachers that could maintain decorum in their classes and Mr dele was one of them. Funny enough, he was the school's favourite teacher. Smiles with students, but wears a stern look when necessary, and absolutely no one wants to see his other side.

"So who can tell us what organic chemistry is?" He threw the question to the class, and I could see a lot of hands floating in the air. I rolled my eyes.

Simple question.

"Tolu?"

Standing up on her feet, she answered. "Organic chemistry is the study of the chemistry of carbon compounds. They include all compounds of carbon except; carbon (II) oxide, carbon (IV) oxide and trioxocarbonates (IV)."

"That's really commendable, at least you people decided to bring your brains back to school this session." He said, moving round the class as if to inspect it or something.

"Can somebody differentiate between aliphatic and aromatic compounds?" This time the number of hands in the air reduced.

"Aliphatic comp-" she didn't get to start her sentence when he cut her off. "I've told you to Alway be on your feet when you speak to me."

It's been a norm here, Rita Nwabueze, the head girl and her attitude towards Mr Dele. Honestly, if Okesola never left the school, Rita wouldn't even stand a chance. I guess her confidence and somewhat good grades, got her there.

After ten seconds and the rolling of her eyes, she stood up to answer the question. "Aliphatic compounds are compounds that have open chain structure, like butene, or a ring structure but the ring structure not having de-localized electrons. Examples are cyclohexane and cyclobutane, while Aromatic compounds are organic compounds with non-localized orbitals. Examples are benzene, phenol, toluene, etcetera.

And the class went crazy, applauding her and all of that. I hissed.

"Decorum!" And again, the class went dead silent.

"We learnt that there are four basic reactions, what are they?" Okay, now, almost everybody had their hands in the air.

"Sodiq?" I could hear side laughs, murmurs and yeye comments.

"Sir, we have," he started counting with his fingers. "The substitution reaction, the addition reaction, the condensation reaction and the polymerization reaction."

"Oh wow, you guys came prepared o," Even the teacher was shocked that sodiq would be able to answer his question. Well sodiq always had the potential, but girls won't let him concentrate.

"Characteristics of organic compounds?"

"Sir, how many?" Kenneth asked.

"How many do you know?"

The class's excitement was growing, people banging their tables in all their excitement, some murmuring oouuus, others whispering. I mean who doesn't like a challenge between teachers and their students.

"Well," he drawled, rubbing his thumb on the corner and of his lips. "They are covalent in nature, that is, they share electrons between atoms such that each of the atoms in the molecule has the electron arrangement of a noble gas,

Because the atoms are linked by covalent bonds, many of them are volatile. They vaporise easily when exposed to air like petrol, methylated spirits, etcetera.

-They have low melting and boiling point. They dissolve in organic solvents, example, camphor dissolving in benzene. And finally, because they are highly covalently bonded compounds, most if them are immiscible in water."

The class went crazy, applauding the head boy, hailing him and all of those yada yada nonsense.
