page 16: the backstory, part 8

"Well it's true, we've been more cautious about that place ever since then." She finished. "Okay then, I'll be cautious if I ever explore." I said. "Well what about your backstory?" She asked, "as far as we know you're some outsider that started living here the other day." "It's not a happy tale, the suffering I went through is worse than death itself, do you still want to know?" I asked, everyone nodded. I sighed. I didn't tell them about the marking, letting them believe it was a birth mark, I didn't tell them about my fire abilities or anything, all I told them is the fire somehow started and went on from there.

"So how did you get out without a single burn mark?" Snow asked. "Well I think I'm immune to fire." I said. Most of them laughed, not taking that seriously. "I can, watch." I said, I put a paw into the campfire and pulled it out, I let the fire continue burning on my paw for a minute or two and then snuffed it out and showed my paw was completely fine. "See?" I said. "Well then, I assume this means you are a fire elemental?" One of the guys hesitated. I shrugged, "dunno." I replied. "I don't really have an element as far as I know." I said. "Clearly you do, you just have to unlock it." Skai said, "Us psychics do however learn our abilities much sooner than any other elemental." I was interested.

"Ice, fire, though opposites can be one and the same, this is when fire as cold as ice, and this fire can freeze anything in its path instead of burning, psychic can be used to counteract any element and turn it into our own power." She explained, "There are also elements we don't speak of, like the soul element (I'm pretty sure it's called something else, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) it can drain the life force from any living creature, even plants, thusly killing them, and turning that force into a power to use against others, the more life force they obtain, the stronger they may become, there is a good part of this though, the more they take, the more their body deforms, take too much and they disintegrate.

This forces any with this element to use it for good otherwise end up dying." She explained, "we could sit here all night talking about elements but I'd rather not, I'd rather head home and go to bed, it's around midnight." She finished. "Alright." I replied. "C'mon everyone let's head back." Snow said. I put out the fire and we all returned to camp. I lied down by myself in a small patch of grass.

And I am out of backstory ideas, back to the present time in the next page.
