Chapter 1
I don't know why I have to tell this story. It's so embarrassing.
Alright, alright, Manny! Don't kill me, gosh!
Okay. Hello. I'm Jack Frost. And this is a story about--alright, this is going downhill really fast!
HEY! I don't see you telling the story here! I'm going to tell the story, so don't interrupt again!
Wait. You--
Alright, I'm telling! I'm telling!
Sorry, everyone. That's Manny, if you haven't already guessed. He wants me to tell you this story, though I don't know why. If you ask me, it's nothing but bad memories and embarrassing moments that I want to erase from history. But I'll tell you, because I'm nice.
Okay. It started the one day that I was playing with Jamie....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I was playing with Jamie and his friends. Snowball fights, stuff like that. You get the picture. Anyways, we were having a lot of fun, but then of course a certain someone has to show up and ruin the fun. And my life.
I had just made another batch of snowballs and was getting ready to throw them, when a dark black cloud appeared out of nowhere. The wind began to blow, and the sky went dark. We stopped throwing snowballs and looked to the sky.
"Jack, what is that?" Jamie asked.
"I don't know," I said. "But I don't like it."
I jumped up into the air and flew off to the cloud. It was hard to fly, now that the wind began to blow against me, but I made it there. As soon as I was a good 6 feet away, I could tell that what was supposedly a cloud wasn't a cloud. It was black sand. And when there is black sand, there is usually Pitch Black not far away.
My brain was just thinking all of this, and I decided that I had to get away to warn the others. I turned around and was about to fly away when something grabbed me around the waist. Shocked, it was quite easy to pull my limp body into the cloud.
Whaaaaaaa? I was thinking. Unfortunately, that only allowed the sand to wrap around me more. My arms were pinned to my sides and struggling only made it worse. That's when that certain someone showed up.
"Well, Jack, you are easier to catch then I thought." He said, smiling.
"That is not a compliment." I stated.
"Nope," Pitch said, nodding in agreement. He came over and wrenched my staff out of my hand. "I'll take that, thank you."
"You're not welcome," I said. "Stealing is not nice."
"I'm not a nice person," Pitch shrugged.
"That I believe..." I muttered.
"What was that?" Pitch asked.
"Huh? Oh, nothing!" I said, giving him a smile. Suddenly, the sand that was wrapped around me tightened, and I couldn't breathe. It spread all across me, until I couldn't see anything. Distantly I heard Pitch say something like, "Goodbye, Jack Frost." It gave me shivers.
Fortunately, the sand came off my face and I could see and breathe again. I gasped in the cool air, grateful. Then, Pitch handed me back my staff.
"Why are you giving me this?" I asked, confused.
"Would you rather me keep it?" Pitch asked.
"NO!" I yelled. "I was just wondering."
"I have no more use for it," Pitch said. "Or you. Safe landings, Jack."
And the sand came off me. At first, I fell, but I called the wind to catch me so it would be no problem. But for some reason, the wind didn't answer. Not only that, but my staff felt useless. Pitch did something, of that I was sure. I couldn't call the wind.
In other words, I kept falling.
And, I was probably doomed.
I fell, and fell, and then--
Hehe. You probably freaked out there, for a second. No, I didn't die. Lucky for me, the guardians came. Bunny caught me by my hoodie from the sleigh, and brought me up to eye level.
"What are you doing, Fr--" He started. His eyes then got wide, and he let go.
Unluckily, that meant I fell.
Stupid, stupid kangaroo.
Not only that, but I screamed. I couldn't hold it in, and it just came out. I was freaked out, truthfully, and didn't know why I couldn't call the wind. I was just praying that someone would catch me.
"Jack, why don't you just fly?!" I heard North shout to me.
"IF I COULD, YOU REALLY THINK THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT ALREADY?!" I screamed back. They must have gotten the idea, because the next thing I knew I had landed safely in the sleigh. I took a deep breath as North landed, glad to be alive. All of the guardians turned to look at me, and when they did they all freaked out.
"What?" I asked. "Is there something on my face?"
"Uh..." North started. "In a way?"
"You don't sound very convincing. Come on guys, what's up?"
All of the guardians looked to each other, before huddling up and began to whisper to each other. Annoyed, I rolled my eyes and stood up. I turned around and stepped off the sleigh, and into the snow. I immediately regretted it.
"HOLY--" Notice how I cut off there. I don't want anyone with innocent ears to get hurt. "WHO HAS BEEN GOING AROUND MAKING ALL THIS SNOW?!?!?!"
You know, that was probably one of the stupid things to say. Come on, Jack, get your head in the game! You know who made all of that snow!
Yea. Anyways, getting off topic.
So...I kind of went around screaming stupid stuff at the top of my lungs. I'm sure that people miles away could have heard me. And that's when I knew for sure that something was wrong.
"Hey, kid!" I heard some guy yell. I stopped running around and looked to the guy that was yelling out to me. "Do us all a favor and shut up!"
"Sorry! I--wait, you can see me?!" I asked.
"Uh, yea?" The guy said. "Why wouldn't I be able to?" Then he walks off muttering something that sounded like, "Crazy kids."
I looked down at my hands. Strangely, they seemed to be slightly less pale. I frowned, and then looked around for some ice. There was none. I heard someone come up behind me and turned to see Sandy.
"Sandy!" I said, squatting down. "What's going on? People can see me, Sandy! Not that I have a problem with that, but people can see me!"
Sandy didn't answer. He just blew gold sand into my face. At once, everything went black.
Well, that was nice, I thought before I was lost in the black for sure.
