Truth and Lies
(Shadow)
I look around, confused at what was happening. The surroundings kept changing and... was Rose crying? I stepped forward as she ran and felt like I'd stepped into ice water. Memories swirled in my mind, fragments of a past long ago.
A sleeping woman, someone I used to know, dreaming of a man who looked like me but had brown hair with... Glowing white eyes. "Oh notch!" I whisper. "Oh notch, Oh notch, Oh Notch!" She hadn't been strong, mother; but she was still a sorceress.
I start running, trying to get to Rose, to tell her I didn't know. Each step made me colder. When I was halfway there, my skin was white, and I was shivering. When I was three quarters of the way there, frost formed on my skin, my hair was stiff, frozen solid. The door opened and a man took rose inside. I took another step and the cold went away. The frost didn't melt, in fact it grew thicker, but I couldn't feel it anymore. I kept walking forward until I was at the door.
"Rose!" I cried hoarsely as I tried to step through the door. The man closed it in my face, knocking me back. I collapsed to my knees, heart shuddering and eyes watering. Then I fell to the side and my eyes began to close. The last thing I saw was a dark black face with purple eyes bending close to my face. Then I blacked out.
(Rose)
"Dad wait! You have to let Shadow in! He's my friend, you can't just leave him out there!" I shouted through my tears, turning back toward the front door. I had to let him in.
(Seto)
"No Rose, there are too many enferman out there! We can't defeat them all!" I cry out, using the same spell I used to use on her as a child to freeze her where she stood. I hoped she hadn't learned the counter spell to that one. "He's a brine or he wouldn't be freezing like that. How can he be your friend?!?" I ask her.
(Rose)
I struggle for a moment against the magic, then break the spell and glare angrily at at my dad. "Just because he is a brine does not mean he is evil! I'm heading out there now!" I raced outside and frantically searched for Shadow. "Shadow! Shadow where are you!" I called, yelling as loudly as I could.
(Seto)
I rush after her, fearing the worst. There is no one on the porch. "Where is he? Why would Herobrine save one of his followers? It's not like him. Who was that kid!" I turn to her, blinking at her distraught expression, and soften my tone. "Tell me everything he said, and what happened. Maybe he isn't as bad as I fear." I pull her inside, worried about the endermen, they haven't dared come so close in a very long time.
(Rose)
I take a deep breath, but tears are streaming down my face. I glare angrily at Seto "He's not a Herobrine follower, he's his son! And my mom apparently is his wife! How the nether am i related to such a foul monster!?"
(Shadow)
I wake up in a dark room. I'm lying on a bed, and there are windows around the room. I look around in confusion, then the fire hits me. I gasp in pain as I feel the heat of a sun burning me. "What is going on?!?" I cry as the pain rolls over me.
"Why, child, it's your fathers house." a nearby voice said.
I look up and see Herobrine, sovereign of the Nether and all it's nightmares. "Oh notch." I whisper, my eyes widening. He smiled and then walked forward toward me. The pain increased with each of his steps until I black out again. Then, all is void, and peace.
(Seto)
"WHAT? Your mom is not his wife! You know I would never have allowed that! I protected her. He can't go near her without being in so much pain he'd all but die from it. What were Herobrine's exact words?" I watch her waiting, afraid for her answer.
(Rose)
I take a deep breath and recount all that happened during the battle. "So either I have an aunt you never told me about or Herobrine was mistaken on how my mother was related to me. Either way, I don't care! We need to save Shadow!"
(Seto)
Taking in her answer, I grimace slightly. "I'll help you save shadow, however what Herobrine just told you has repurcussions. I saw ice forming on Shadow, an unusual effect of my spell. Normally they only feel cold. He was part sorcerer. You know the histories just as I do. There were once other sorcerers, ones not part of our family." I look her in the eye.
"Sorcerers that were only powerful in two types of magic. They could heal, or speed growth. I'm told they found a way to mix their powers to enhance things, as well." I emphasize the word enhance to her.
(Rose)
I look up at my dad, still angry. "Such as what? When I first met Shadow he was such a noob! We became best friends and then f***ing herobrine had to come ruin it! You need to tell me if its possible to save Shadow now." I demand, my voice hard.
(Seto)
I look at her carefully. "Rose, we can save him, but Herobrine will try and use him, try to figure out what his blood has done. He won't stop at testing Shadow's magic, he'll try to either turn him or..." I cringe at the thought, "Know Herobrine, he'll find ways we don't want to imagine to hurt that kid. Though he might find that to be more difficult, or maybe easier, than he thinks." I turn and start walking toward the library.
(Rose)
I sigh quietly and follow him. "Turn him how? And if he kills Shadow, I will kill Herobrine personally." I walked along my dad, thinking.
After a few moments, I spoke again. "Dad, there was one part of the battle I left out because I didn't know why it happened. If I tell you do you think you could find out why it happened?"
(SetoL
"Herobrine might try and turn Shadow into a willing brine, heaven help us if that happens. What did you leave out? I can probably figure out what it was, our library has more books than our family has magic. So, what happened?" I pull down books on defensive and offensive magic as I wait for her to speak.
(Rose)
"Well it was really weird. You know how sorcerers can see auras? Well, both our auras had gold streaked through it, but it took magic from him and gave it to me. Then just out of the blue I felt a huge surge of power, I don't even know how I did it, but I threw a massive Notch ball at him."
I glance up at dad. "But no sorcerer or sorceress in our line has been able to do that in a long time. Why am I different? What's so special about me?"
(Seto)
I look at her, my hands slowing in their methodical motions. "A notch ball?" I asked, turning to her abruptly. "Golden sparks? How did your auras react to them, did his grow any weaker than normal?" I look at her curiously. Then a thought occurred to me. "What was Shadows auric color? Was it maybe, gold?"
(Rose)
I thought about it a moment. "Yeah it was golden... But Shadow was nowhere near us... When I woke up, he was cradling me and protecting me from Herobrine but I used my powers and sent him back to our house so he would be safe." I said quietly.
"But if Shadow is a brine, why would his aura be golden instead of white? Or because he's part sorcerer why not purple? Why golden? Shadow had no idea he was a brine or sorcerer, how would he even know he had powers to use them?"
Pacing back and forth, multiple questions start whizzing around my head. I turn to look at my dad, taking in his furrowed brow. I resume my pacing when I don't get a responce, going faster and faster.
