Chapter 2: Life After the Cruise
A few months after their cruise, Dracula's fiancé, Ericka, was killed by the evil bat, Bela. This put Drac in a very depressed state. He remembered telling her that he would save her every time, but now, he failed. He barely went out of his room to run the hotel; Mavis took over so her father could recover, but it didn't seem like he was. So one day, she decided to go up to his room.
She knocked on the door and called, "Dad, it's Mavis. Can I come in?"
"I guess, honey bat," Drac answered sadly.
She entered then closed the door behind her. She saw her father, sitting on his coffin and looking at his portrait of him and his late wife, Martha. Mavis sighed and sat by her father.
"Dad, I know you miss both Mom and Ericka, but there's nothing you can do now. You need to move on," she told him.
"I know, but I failed them both. I don't know how I can move on," he replied.
"Death comes to everyone and everything, including monsters. But maybe all you need is another zing," Mavis said.
Drac looked at her, a little surprised, then responded seriously, "Darling, finding another zing may help, but it would only be a reminder that both times I zinged, they died. I don't think I'll ever find my zing out there."
She rested her hand on his and stated, "You never know, Dad. If you give it another try, you could meet someone who can make you happy again. It breaks my heart that you aren't."
He smiled sadly and hugged his daughter, saying, "I appreciate that, my little bedbug. But I don't know if another zing will come."
After they parted, Mavis told him good night and went back to work.
Meanwhile, Jamie was running from some huge bats.

She stopped to catch a breather until they found her again.
"This is more annoying than when Van Helsing hunted me down," she commented, threw down her suitcases, and got in a defensive pose.
The bats closed in on her until they noticed how much brighter it was getting, so they flew off. Then Jamie got her bags as the sunrise was making its way up.
"Got to get somewhere safe," she said.
She ran a little further until she saw the hotel.
"Thank goodness," she told herself.
She ran for it, but not without the sun hitting her a little. She groaned in pain as she finally made it to the revolving doors and went inside.

P.S. Once again, for those who do not know, that is me. Same with the second pic in Chapter 1.
