Romantic confessions

Ever since (Y/n) received relationship advice from Zarkon she was a little more affectionate with Sendak and he seemed to like it; she gave him a hug every evening before they parted ways for the night and every time he helped her with something difficult she would express her appreciation for his help with a lingering hug and a flutter of her eyes. At first she'd been scared to initiate more physical contact than usual when the right time came along and she could tell that Sendak had been a little startled by it at first, luckily as the next week or so passed he got used to it and he even nuzzled the top of her head more often. It wasn't like they never had physical contact before they separately went to Zarkon for romantic advice, they'd occasionally had a few casual snuggle sessions with each other, but (Y/n) made sure to be extra touchy-feely as time went on. She absolutely loved being physically close with Sendak more often and she hoped that one day in the near future, they would pair off and she could introduce him to kissing. The thought of kissing Sendak on the lips always left (Y/n) feeling excited and tingly, she could hardly wait for when her efforts paid off.

Sendak had noticed (Y/n's) change in behavior after the next few weeks after their trip together, how she'd become more affectionate with him than usual, and it wasn't even her fertile week; they still had the platonic cuddling session just as all good friends did, but when she fluttered her eyes at him he wondered if it was her way of showing him that she wanted them to be more than friends. According to Ulaz, one of Kolivan's friends who was a doctor and somewhat of a scientist, it was a universal sign that when a woman was extra affectionate with someone she was interested in, and fluttered her eyes, she was undoubtedly interested in becoming that person's romantic partner. Either way, Sendak took it as a sign that it was time for him to take (Y/n) out somewhere where they could be alone and he could formally begin courting her. Of course, he needed to look for a proper courtship gift to give her and he went shopping at the various stores on Daibazaal, searching for the perfect gift. Sendak came across the perfect gift while he stopped by a street fair in a village in one of the Southern deserts; a beautiful lightweight scarf (Y/n) could wear during the windy days when the wind whipped the sand around.

Sometimes sand would get in (Y/n's) hair during the windy days and then it would be nearly impossible for her to get it out, but if she wore a light scarf then she wouldn't have that problem and she wouldn't get too hot while she wore it. With a suitable gift in his possession, all Sendak had to do was take her out to one of his favorite places out in the desert. He decided to do it after dinner and dessert one early summer evening, right when the sunset would be; sunsets were always romantic, no matter what planet one lived on. (Y/n) thought it was just an ordinary evening, although Zarkon could tell that Sendak appeared more anxious than usual and he had the sneaking suspicion that he knew what would go down between him and (Y/n) later that evening. After everyone had eaten their fill and the servants cleared the dishes off of the table, Sendak approached (Y/n) before she could go anywhere.

“This evening is supposed to be nice, would you like to come watch the sunset with me?” Sendak inquired formally as he got (Y/n's) attention, even though he felt as though his heart would burst right out of his chest.

“I would love to.” (Y/n) answered enthusiastically, perhaps a little too much because the aspect of them being alone together excited her, luckily he didn't seem put off by her enthusiasm.

“We should leave now then, before it gets dark.” Sendak replied, gently beaming down at the young woman before he led her down the hallway.

(Y/n) couldn't wait to see the sunset with Sendak, just the two of them, and she walked next to him until they reached the galra version of a garage and he opened the passenger door to his hovercar so that she could get in first, then he walked over to the other side and got in. It wasn't long before they were out in the desert, the quiet humming sound of his car the only sound filling the not too awkward silence. (Y/n) wondered why Sendak asked her out so suddenly; she didn't want to get her hopes up again, but as long as she kept her hands to herself then nothing bad would happen. She didn't know exactly how much time passed since they left the palace, although soon enough Sendak stopped the car and turned it off, then he got out and opened the passenger door for (Y/n) like the true gentleman he was. There was a little hill nearby with a tree next to it; it was his favorite place to go when he needed to think, and he wanted to share it with (Y/n).

Sendak led (Y/n) over to the hill and then they sat down, facing the absolutely gorgeous sunset. He'd successfully asked (Y/n) to come to his favorite place with him, all he had to do was confess his feelings for her and hope that she reciprocated his feelings. (Y/n) would never not be in awe of the natural wonders on Daibazaal, she could officially say that they were more beautiful than Earth's, except on Daibazaal there weren't any Northern lights. She stared out at the horizon and patiently waited for Sendak to say something, wondering if she should be the one to start a conversation. (Y/n) glanced at Sendak for a moment and saw that his ears were pinned back a little, then she turned her gaze back to the horizon.

“I didn't only ask you out here to see the sunset with me, there's something else that I need to tell you.” Sendak said when he finally got up enough courage to speak, turning towards the woman next to him.

“There's something I would like to tell you too, but you can go first; I'm listening.” (Y/n) replied, turning towards Sendak so she could look at him.

“I've always been fond of you ever since we got to know each other better and I've appreciated our friendship; you've introduced me to so many things from your world and you've readily accepted mine, but I'm ready to end our friendship so we can walk the path of love together. What I'm trying to say is that I'm in love with you and I want to properly court you. I've loved you for a long time, but every time I tried telling you how badly I want to have you as my intended, I lost my courage. (Y/n), if you will allow me the honor, will you allow me to court you?” Sendak spoke softly after he took a deep breath, finally telling (Y/n) how he truly felt about her while he pulled the scarf out of his pocket.

Throughout his confession (Y/n) looked at him with slightly widened eyes, fearing the worst when he said that he wanted to end their friendship, but then when he said that he'd been in love with her she felt her heart thumping within her chest. His confession was one of the most beautiful and romantic things she'd ever heard during her entire life, and the fact that Sendak said it to her of all people nearly made her pass out from happiness. If he'd been human then (Y/n) wouldn't have trusted him, although because he wasn't human she knew that he meant every word he said. She barely noticed when Sendak pulled something out of his pocket, a piece of thin cloth that was almost the same color as his fur. After Sendak finished his confession, he hoped that (Y/n) would reciprocate his feelings.

“That was literally the most beautiful thing anyone has ever said to me. I've liked- no, loved you for so long and I was so scared to tell you. I would love to be your intended, as you put it.” (Y/n) said after she thought about how she would respond after a few moments, beaming softly at the man she'd fallen in love with.

“You would? I'm not the best at this seeing as you're the first person I've fallen so hard for. I- I brought you this first courtship gift; it's a scarf to help keep the sand out of your hair during the windy days.” Sendak spoke as he held up the scarf, astonished that (Y/n) really wanted to be in a relationship with him; he'd been so preoccupied pining after her that he didn't notice that she'd had a crush on him, in a way he felt a little embarrassed for not noticing sooner.

“Of course I would; I love you more than you know and I've wanted to be your girlfriend for a really long time, and I think you did really well. I appreciate this, it's perfect.” (Y/n) concluded affectionately, taking the scarf from Sendak before she scooted closer and wrapped her arms around his midsection, hugging him tightly.

Sendak practically melted when (Y/n) hugged him after she accepted the gift he'd brought for her, officially accepting him as her intended future husband; he could hardly believe that it had been so easy to get into a relationship with her, all he'd needed to do was get up enough courage. He could finally do all the adorable couple things with (Y/n), including sleep in bed with her and eventually they could do other things together when they were ready for their relationship to progress. (Y/n) had waited for what felt like an eternity to hear Sendak confess his feelings for her, and in turn she did the same thing for him; it was almost too good to be true, but it wasn't a dream because they were very much awake. She thought it was cute how Sendak had been a little nervous when he confessed his feelings for her, and she definitely noticed how he relaxed when she hugged him. (Y/n) wanted to kiss her new boyfriend, although they literally just got into a relationship less than five minutes prior and she decided to wait a few days for his sake.

There were so many cute coupley things she couldn't wait to do with Sendak, like wear his shirts, bake things with him and so much more. However, they just became a couple and there was more than enough time for them to enjoy the dating stage and become closer as a couple before they began planning their future wedding. (Y/n) appreciated the scarf Sendak gave her, it would protect her hair from the sand whenever the wind whipped up. Sendak purred a little louder while he nuzzled the top of (Y/n's) head; he could hear her heart pounding and he knew that she was excited, but a little nervous at the same time since she'd never been in a permanent romantic relationship before. They would stay at their spot until nighttime, then they would go back to the palace, although until then they just wanted to enjoy their time alone together.

__________

Nearly everyone in the palace had retired to their bedrooms for the night, everyone except for Kumo and Haxus; Kumo really liked Haxus and she knew he had a thing for her, although neither of them had made a move to court the other yet. Kumo had invited Haxus over to the palace so they could hang out together without either of them getting interrupted by anyone. They were just sitting on a rock near the palace when they saw Sendak's hovercar coming towards the palace, luckily for them Sendak and (Y/n) would go to their respective bedrooms for the night. Neither Haxus nor Kumo said anything as they watched Sendak go to park his car, then a few moments later they saw him and (Y/n) walk through the front doors of the palace whilst holding each other's hands. It was obvious that their two friends finally had success with each other and were finally a couple; Haxus and Kumo were happy for them, although Kumo hoped that one day she and Haxus would be a couple.

“It's about time.” Haxus muttered quietly, relieved that his childhood friend finally confessed his feelings for (Y/n).

“I couldn't agree more.” Kumo agreed; she leaned a little further towards Haxus and he scooted slightly closer to her, it was the perfect season for romance.

It was only a matter of time before Sendak and (Y/n) tied the knot and Haxus and Kumo would begin courting, Kumo would definitely tell Vrul and Zarkon the good news the next morning if they didn't notice. While Kumo and Haxus spent time together outside, Sendak and (Y/n) bid each other goodnight after he gently rubbed his nose against hers in the galra equivalent of a kiss. Within the next week (Y/n) would introduce Sendak to regular kissing, and even after she closed her bedroom door behind her she felt giddy. The scarf had a special place on top of her dresser where it would be in plain sight; when Sendak gave her more courtship gifts in the future, (Y/n) would place them on the mostly empty shelves on one of the walls in her bedroom. She didn't know what the future would be like for her and Sendak, but she couldn't wait to see what wonderful things they would experience together.
