"As much as I love hanging out with ya boys I got to go visit my sister" I say standing up from the couch of the boys apartment.

"I wanna come" Jaden whines.

"You don't have to whine" I laugh as I pull him up off the couch and head over to the door.

"Is my outfit ok" he asks looking down at his sweats and tank top. A tank top boys and girls is what we call progress.

"Dude your fine you'll see, also you might wanna pack a bag, Incase we stay the night knowing my family we will be staying for dinner." I say slipping on my vans before tying them and grabbing Jaden and Is matching crocs we got at the mall earlier.

Friendship goals I know

"I'm ready" Jaden says to me coming back from his room before yelling to the boys. "I'll probably be back tomorrow love you guys"

Awe he loves his best friends. He's a softie.

"Softie" I laugh as we head out to the Jeep.

"Ashton we are going to see your friends are you excited" I say pulling out onto the rode.

"Where does your sister live?" Jaden asks turning down the radio.

"My parents own property in Calabasas where they have a decent sized house and they run a dog rescue from the property" I explain as we pull onto the highway.

"That's so cool" Jaden exclaims.

"Yeah my uncle and aunt live next door and the breed service dogs like Ashton, they actually bred and trained him and gave him to me when I started having all the health problems I did" I reply as he starts taping his leg. "What's on your mind"

"Do you think your family will like me I mean really" he asks as I bust out laughing. "What"

"Dude they will love you, my little sister Scarlett will probably wanna make tik toks, my mom will ask if we are dating, and my dad will tell you if you hurt me he'll shoot you with his rifle, don't be fooled he's a softie, and then my brothers are probably busy at work so you probably won't meet them but they'd probably laugh their asses off cause they kinda dumb" I remark as he gets less nervous.

"What do your brothers do for work" he asks curiously.

"Sawyer is a Cop and is 25, and Dawson a Firefighter, and he's 23, and here I am doing social media and am 20, then there's Scarlett who's 17 who helps with the rescue" I say as we turn onto the street to enter the neighborhood and go up to the gate.

"Here for Brian and Kelley" I say having opened my window to talk with the gate operator.

"Welcome back Line" the operator says handing me a little embroidered collar and OMG is it cute "Lindsay made that for Ashton"

"Thank you tell her to text me so we can go to the studio together" I say as she lets us through and I drive up into the neighborhood.

"Hi" I say walking through the front door of my childhood home well the one we've had since I was 13.

"Who is this young gentleman" my mom asks referring to Jaden who's behind me.

"He's a famous tik toker I'd call you dumb but that's reserved for your other daughter" Scarlett says from her seat on the couch.

"You dumb bitch" I yell running over to her and snatching her phone from her hand before grabbing her and heading for the pool out back.

"Line please I'm sorry. Your the smart one just please don't throw me in I love you I'm sorry please" Scarlett says as I hold her over the pool.

"Your the dumb bitch" I say throwing her in.

"I hate you" Scarlett says plopping herself on the couch beside Jaden and I having come down from her room where she had just showered.

"Then the feelings mutual, also wanna give you a friendly reminder, your ugly" I laugh as she rolls her eyes.

"Hey guys" Dawson says walking into the house.

"Dawson" I squeal jumping over the couch to give him a hug. "I thought you'd be working"

"Hey little sis" he says giving me a hug before yelling to our parents. "Am I late"

"We are still waiting on Sawyer and Rainy, and the ham" our mom yells back from the kitchen.

"Who the fuck are you cuddling with, and does he know about dads rifle threat yet" Dawson asks finally noticing Jaden laying his head on my lap.

"Dawson this is Jaden, my best friend" I say putting emphasis on best friend.

"Best friend" Dawson asks with a questioning tone.

"She's secretly his girlfriend" Scarlett comments and I grab a pillow and throw it at her. "I take that back she wishes she was his girlfriend"

"You hurt her I hurt you" Dawson says with a laugh.

"So scary" I remark laughing my ass off.

"Honey I'm home" Rainy screeches as she walks into the house.

"Foods Ready so perfect timing on your arrival" our mom says poking her head out of the kitchen

"Food" Scarlett yells as she runs to the kitchen sliding on the laminate floor and into the wall, causing everyone and I mean everyone to bust out laughing.

"Y'all are shit faces" she says getting up and limping to the table.

"Language young bitch face" I laugh as Jaden and I go sit at the table.

"What have I told you about socks in the laminate floor Scarlett" our mom asks and she can't help but laugh at it too.

Jaden and I were sat beside one another at the table eating in a comfortable silence when my dad asks the embarrassing question.

"Have y'all fucked yet" he asks continuing to eat his dinner as if he didn't just ask an awkward question.

"Dad" I yell face palming myself, my cheeks turning red.

Gotta love it when your parents embarrass you am I right.

"We are just friends" Jaden says with a small laugh.

"For now" Scarlett whisper yells so the whole table could hear.

"To make this a little less awkward for my baby sis, we got news" Sawyer says looking at Rainy.

"Am I gonna be a grandma" our mom asks excitedly. "I want it to be a boy, or twins, a boy and girl that would be cool"

"No but he proposed" Rainy says holding up her hand with the ring on her finger.

"May I be excused" I ask as my mom just looks at me in disbelief as I get up, setting my napkin on the table before walking out the back door. Jaden hot on my heels.

I slip on my crocs which were on the back porch and head down the property to the dog pens.

"Line wait up" Jaden says joining me in the pen area.

"What's up" I ask as we walk down the rows of enclosures looking at the dogs.

"Are you ok" he asks grabbing my waist to get me to stop and look at him.

"I'm probably gonna die before they get married so it kinda hurts to know ya know" I say as I continue down the isle and out into the field where they play. 

"I'm sorry" Jaden says following me.

"Ashton come on boy" I say opening the gate for him before going to get a few dogs from their enclosures.

"Line can I talk to you for a minute" Rainy asks walking up to us where we were leaned up against the fence watching the dogs play.

"What's up" I ask turning around as Jaden heads back towards the house.

"We are getting married late next month July 31st, so you can be there, and I want you to be my maid of honor" Rainy says as Ashton comes running up to the fence drenched in the water from the small lake.

"I'm sorry for over reacting" I say giving her a hug.

"Don't worry about it we had a feeling you were gonna be sad, and that's why we wanted to make sure you knew we were forcing you to come. And maybe you can even bring Jaden" she says wiggling her eyebrows.

"Just friends" I remark as I let Ashton out of the pen with his two best friends trailing behind us as we head into the house.

"Hey Line can we film a YouTube video together tomorrow?" Scarlett says sitting on the couch beside me and Jaden as we are watching a movie.

"Sure what's the video" I ask as Jaden sits up and yawns.

That was hot.

What the fuck am I thinking that's my best friend.

"I was thinking we could do a dance collab, and then at 4 I'm meeting with my friends" Scarlett replies.

"I'm in I guess" I say as I shut off the movie "let's go to bed"

Jaden and I trudge up the stairs and down the hall to my old room.

It looks exactly like I left it.

"Line wake up" Jaden says shaking me as I open my eyes.

"What the fuck it's like one in the morning" I say looking at my alarm clock in the well lit room "why the fuck is the light on"

"Line we need you to go on a rescue with us" My dad says from my doorway.

"Let me change" I say as he shuts the door and I head over to my closet.

"Want me to come with?" Jaden asks walking into my closet as I'm pulling the shirt over my head.

"If you want to" I say as I pull a pair of joggers over the shorts I was wearing.

"You can steal one of my hoodies, I brought two" he says with a grin.

Yes please

"Let's go" I say grabbing the hoodies and tying up my boots.

"Where exactly are we going" Scarlett asks when we all get downstairs.

"There was a fire near one of the shelters in the valley and the dogs are in danger so we are taking some until they are safe to go back" my mom says as we head to the back yard to get carriers and leashes.

"Show Jaden how to leash collarless dogs with Ashton while we grab supplies" my dad says handing me one of the leashes we use.

"Ashton come" I say to my dog as Jaden is stood beside me.

"So what do I got to do" Jaden asks.

"You know the part you put your hand through usually, well you'll put the clip thing through that so there's a loop and you'll put that around their neck and then lead them" I explain as he nods.

"Should be easy enough" he replies as we hop into the Jeep, Jaden driving my parents leading the way with the trailer and truck.
