CAMERON GALLAGHER LET OUT A GROAN as her alarm clock went off. She laid there for a moment, staring at the ceiling before jumping up and putting on a pair of jeans and her work shirt.
She made eye contact with her older sister in the hallway and they both sighed, "You take the kids and I get the breakfast?"
"You got it." Fiona replied, the two high-fiving as they passed each other,
Cam quickly made it to the kitchen and set out multiple bowls and spoons and the giant box of cereal before leaving the milk on the table.
She went back into the kitchen and into the cupboard, reaching for the little orange bottle that sat on the top shelf. She opened it and took out the little white pill before placing it in her mouth and swallowing.
She leaned against the counter and sighed, staring at the calendar. The 15th. The electric bill.
Cam grabbed the collection box that was made out of an old protein bar box and placed twenty dollars in before setting on the table as everyone sat down to eat, "Electric."
"Yeah." Fiona came through, grabbing the almost empty milk and filled it up at the sink.
Ian put some bills in and handed it over to Carl, "Electric."
The younger boy failed to put anything in and handed it off to Debbie, "Electric."
"No." Cam turned to see what Fiona was talking about, "You've got a Happy Meal on the front of that shirt." The younger brunette sighed and grabbed Carl's arms and forced them up so she could take his shirt off and turn it inside out and place it back on his torso.
"Oh, um, field trip." Ian handed the piece of paper to Debbie, "Need Dad's signature." The redhead grabbed a pen and forged Frank's signature, "Wow, Deb, that's getting really good." Lip commented,
"Who's got the phone?" Fiona asked as she put laundry into the washing machine,
"I got it." Lip answered as he tossed her the phone,
"Any minutes left?"
"Uh, 14."
"Hey, I need something for show-and-tell." Debbie stated, walking back over to the table,
"How much are we short?" Cam asked as she grabbed the box from the table,
"$18.30." Debbie answered
"Oh, I'm tutoring after school. I should be able to kick in like ten more." Lip stated,
Cam sighed, "I should be getting my tips today after my shift."
"Hey, did, uh, Carl put in any?" Ian asked, knowing the younger boy didn't put any in,
"You're almost nine. You're going to have to start pulling your weight." Debbie scolded him,
"That's right, and get a real job, not just dipping into the collection plate at St. Tim's." Lip commented,
Cam wrapped her arms around Carl and kissed his cheek, "Don't grow up, Carl." She rubbed his shaved head as he rubbed at his cheek, trying to get the saliva off, "But please start making money."
"I'm filling in for Candi. I can cover the rest." Fiona said, trying to feed Liam, "Somebody's got to take Liam."
"Uh, I got a calculus test." Lip replied,
"I'm working after school." Ian stated, before the two left the table,
"Show-and-tell?" Debbie suggested,
Fiona looked down at the youngest Gallagher before looking up at Cam, "Fi, no."
"Show them the birthmark on his back. It looks like Latvia." Fiona handed the boy over and Cam sighed,
"I'll take my break at 1:30 and grab him then, Debs." She looked over at Fiona, "He can spend the rest of the day with me."
"Your boss would be okay with that?" Fiona asked,
"Oh, please. No one can say no to his face." Cam squished Liam's cheeks before placing a kiss to his lips,
After all the kids were sent off to school, Cameron rushed upstairs to find her name tag before putting on her shoes and leaving the house for work.
She arrived at Patsy's Pies with only five minutes before her shift started. She quickly headed to the back, giving greetings to her coworkers before tying an apron around her waist.
"Hey, Mr. Assistant Manager Pierce!" She leaned towards the gap in the wall between the kitchen and bar, where they put the plates of food when they're done cooking, "Is it alright if I grab Liam during my break and he hangs here for a while?"
He turned around and raised his eyebrows, "Well, that depends, can he cook a veggie omelette and clean dishes?"
Cam tilted her head to 'think' about it for a moment, "Hmmm, no, but I'm sure if he smiles real sweet I can get more tips."
Sean smirked and patted the metal, "I better be getting some of those then."
"Done." Cam smiled before grabbing her notepad and heading to a table to take their order.
After the lunch rush, Cameron went to the elementary school to grab Liam from Debbie's class. She went back to the diner and set him in the baby seats they had for customers and sat him at the end of the bar before grabbing a fruit cup and giving it to the almost two-year-old,
"Well, doesn't look like he can make much tips from right there." Sean joked as he lifted the boy onto his hip as he chewed on a peach,
Cameron filled up a customer's coffee and turned to him, "Once people ask about him and I say I'm a single mother who can't afford daycare, the tips will come running."
The customer at the bar handed her a five dollar bill, "Keep the change."
She smiled and slipped it into her apron, "Thank you, sir." She turned back to Sean with a smirk before grabbing Liam's hand, "Did you have fun at Debbie's school, buddy?"
"He went with Debbie to school?" Sean asked, setting the boy back into his seat to continue eating,
"She was the only one available to take him. Besides, she had show-and-tell today." Cameron replied, moving around the counter as a table sat down,
Once she took their order, she went back to the bar to stick the ticket for the kitchen crew, "One salad and a double cheeseburger, please, Julio!"
"She's ten."
"Fully capable for watching a toddler for a few hours." Cameron responded, filling drinks with water and a soda,
"Next time, just bring the kid here. Charlie wouldn't be upset with it." Sean insisted,
Cameron dropped the drinks off before heading back over, "Fiona has a few shifts at the motel this week, she can take him then." She leaned back against the counter and straightened his button down shirt, "He's almost in his terrible twos. Don't want a meltdown here."
Sean looked over at the toddler who was calmly eating his fruit cup, "Oh, yeah," He smirked down at Cameron, "He's absolutely wild."
"Gallagher." Charlie greeted after he entered the restaurant,
"Boss." Cam smiled over at him as he walked back towards his office,
Sean raised an eyebrow, "Why don't you call me boss?"
Cameron moved over to the computer to put in the five dollars and take out the tip, putting it in the jar, "Because you're the assistant manager." She joked,
"Ouch."
She grabbed Liam's bottle from the diaper bag and went into the kitchen, cleaning it out before filling it with milk and giving it to the youngest Gallagher, "Eat your fruit and I'll sneak you some French fries."
