Chapter 2

"Happy Birthday Young Master!" Everyone exclaimed as numerous confetti rained down from the skies.

It was nearing lunch, only a quarter left to be exact, and everyone was in the garden, which now had blue and green balloons floating around, and a large table with plenty of food and a two-tier cake in the middle, which was surrounded by many smaller tables.

Today is warm.

One of the servants lit the candles on the cake.

"Blow and make a wish, young master." I turned to see Elena right behind me, her chocolate-colored hair tied in a low ponytail. "It's your birthday, after all." She then crouched down a bit, placing a hand near my ear as she whispered. "Though it would be best if you didn't tell anyone about what you wished for, or it won't ever come true.

I give her a solemn nod, before walking towards the table and taking in a deep breath, thinking of what I wished the most.

If you were given a chance to make a wish, you'd wish for the one thing you want the most.

Immediately, I blew out the candle, and everyone cheered, clapping and happy voices making their way to my ears, feeling happy myself.

I'm now six years old...

Today's a good day...

Afterwards, time passed by in a blur, with the people congratulating me and giving me small gifts.

Rose gave me a hairpin, Elena gave me a bracelet, Lou gave me a pretty pen.

With each and every gift I received, I thanked them in return, and they would smile while patting my head.

The food on the table was slowly disappearing, and the sun too was slowly hiding away to make way for the moon and its children.

'Time goes by too fast.' I thought, overlooking everyone who was now clearing up the space.

I let out a sigh, which was then quickly followed by a yawn that was noticed by Elena.

"You should rest now, young master." She said, taking my hand into hers before turning around to the others. "Continue cleaning, I shall lead the young master so that he can sleep."

What followed was a chorus of 'Good Night's' from the crowd, and without a word, I gave them a wave, my other hand gripping the bag that carried the presents as Elena then led me away from the garden.

In contrast to the warmth fell of the garden in the morning, the corridors felt cold, and I couldn't help but inch closer to Elena, who merely chuckled at my action.

"Did you have fun today?" She asks, and I turn my head to give her a small smile.

"Mhmm!" I hum. "Today was very fun!"

"I'm glad then." And then silence blanketed us both, but it wasn't uncomfortable.

We were nearing the turn needed to reach my room, and the silence that enveloped us was gently broken by a song, slow, gently being carried by the now nighttime breeze.

It took me a moment to realize it was coming from Elena.

Slowly, I turn my head to look at her. She had a gentle smile on her face, not unlike the ones she would give me.

"What's the song?" I asked her, and she must've not been expecting it as the smile she had was immediately replaced by wide eyes, the song coming to a halt. "It sounds nice"

The smile returns to her face, and she lets out a small laugh, her voice echoing through the halls.

"It's from a game I once played when I was young." She answers after a moment, her eyes looking far away. "I liked the game a lot too. It was simple, but it was a great one."

"What game was it?"

She hums, a hand on her chin as she thinks, before she laughs apologetically and pats my head.

"Forgive me, young master, but it seems that I have forgot." She says, and I merely give her a nod, slightly disappointed that I won't be able to know the name of the song.

After a few minutes of walking, we finally reach the doors to my room, and I reluctantly went inside, not yet wanting to say goodbye to Elena.

"Goodnight, young master." She says, the gentle smile on her face seemingly impossible to erase.

"Goodnight, Elena." I say before she proceeded to close the doors.

With a heavy sigh, I head to my closet to change into my sleeping clothes, the song still humming through my head, which was quite nice considering that after the small celebration, everything felt too quiet.

The room was dark, with the only source of light being the one from the moon, which passed through the glass doors that led to the balcony.

I shiver as the cold night wind caresses my skin, before finally putting on my shirt and heading directly to bed.

Feeling the fatigue catching up to me, I lie down on the soft mattress, letting out a yawn and a few stray tears.

'Today was fun' I thought, a small smile making its way to my face. 'Even if my wish didn't come true... yet!'

It didn't take long afterwards for the sandman to help me fall asleep.

-----------------------

It's hot

I can't breathe.

Where am I?

What happened?

Something wet was plastered onto my forehead, and I moved my head sideways in an effort to remove it, making the pounding in my head wosen.

I feel sick

I want to hurl

"Young master," a voice spoke, and a frown forms on my face at the unfamiliar speaker "it would do you better if you do not move too much."

The wet thing was removed, followed by the sound of dripping water.

Something cold was pressed and wiped through my face, my neck, and my arms, lessening the heat I felt, before the wet feeling returned to my forehead, which was now a bit colder.

I try opening my eyes, only to shut them tight again once a bright light assaulted my vision, making both the want to hurl and the pain in my head worse.

Someone beside me sighs in exasperation, which was then followed by the sound of a chair being dragged and footsteps.

"Please stay still, young master, I shall call the doctor here. Irene, Lukas, please watch over him." The voice from before said, which was quickly followed by two yesses.

The sound of the door being shut echoed through the room, the silene settling in after a few minutes.

With nothing better to do I decided to try opening my eyes once again, albeit this time a bit more slowly. I squint against the bright light, blinking multiple times to adjust my eyes to the brightness.

Soon enough, I could see well enough to know that the room I'm in is large, not unlike my old room, but everything is blurry.

There's something hanging at the center in the ceiling, and the walls are painted an elegant shade of turquoise, with white spots, though it was hard to make out what it was exactly. Beside me was a complete, three-screen computer, and beside it was something that seemed like a bookshelf.

On the farther right side of the room was a white double door, and on the left were two doors, one darker than the other, which I assumed was the closet and the bath.

"You're awake, young master?" Someone with red hair tied into a bun asks, her mask of formality failing to hide the relief on her face. "This is great! The lady and the master would be pleased, and the young miss could now finally rest easy!"

A young man in a butler's uniform approaches me, brown hair swept to the side. "Would you be needing your glasses right now, young master?"

I give him a nod, and without any delay he picks up a case on the corner of the computer table, opening it before handing it to me.

Inside was a pair of white, full-framed glasses.

Gingerly, I took them from the case and put them on, scrunching up my face a few times at the foreign feeling.

Now that I could see clearly though, the white spots on the walls weren't spots after all. They were flowers with elegant, curling vines painted on the walls.

Looking down, I was underneath a thick, royal blue blanket, with a canopy over my head.

The room was almost similar to my previous one, only a bit larger and with a –

A chandelier hanging from the middle of the ceiling.

I stare at it for a few minutes, before releasing a sigh, adjusting myself so that I was sitting. The other two offered to help, but I waved them away.

"Does the young master need anything?" The girl from before asks, caramel-brown eyes looking at me in earnest.

I was about to shake my head when I remembered.

"Would you mind getting me a small mirror?" I ask her, and almost immediately, her face brightens up, before heading to the darker-colored door.

With that done, I silently mull over what System 00001 told me, leaning against the headboard as I took in deep breaths.

'Any form of media...' I thought, looking at the room I was in once more.

Now that I think about it, this place does seem kind of familiar...

A foreboding feeling settles on my stomach, and I do my best to try and shove it down.

It couldn't be, right?

The double doors open, and the ones who pass through, worry clear on their faces, shatter my hopes on the spot.

Simultaneously, the maid from before arrives, carrying a hand mirror framed in silver, and once it was in my hands, I come face to face with a young child with black eyes, equally black, wavy hair, and tan skin.

I almost didn't recognize the face looking back at me because of the fear in their eyes.

I stare at the mirror in silence, panic growing by leaps and bounds in my chest.

Somewhere in the room, I could hear the same bell-like sound from the white room, but I didn't pay it any attention.

A scream bubbles in my throat, and it takes all of my self-control not to curse at the sky, the hand holding the mirror shaking from barely-hidden frustration.

I would have accepted anything, really, any world, my old life, a movie or a series I haven't watched yet.

I would be fine with those. But not with this.

Never with this.

For some odd reason, I felt the face in the mirror look at me in amusement, and it takes all of my control to not throw it away.

The face staring back at me was of someone I knew from a game.

Someone who was supposed to be a secret male lead, only acquirable once the player has gone through all the endings for the first three love interests.

The person I am now is Rolan Del Rosario, the heroine's adoptive older brother from the game "Garden of Roses"

The one "Otome Game" I hated with every fiber of my being.
