Steve's view
Thanks to my more developed self-healing powers, I was well enough after only three days to be ready for action again. Even if I wasn't, I would have gone anyway. I couldn't just lie in a soft bed while Hydra did who knows what to Bucky. I rubbed at my eyes, deep circles under them. I hadn't slept much in the last three days, because even worse than the worries I had when I was awake were the nightmares when I was asleep. Each of the past nights I had woken up screaming, because every time I closed my eyes I saw Johann Schmidt and Dr. Zola standing over Bucky's dead body. I told myself that they were just dreams, Dr. Zola had been sitting safely in his cell four floors behind me since the incident on the train.
I put on my military uniform, my Capitan America uniform I only put on when I was on a mission. I stifled a groan as I accidentally arrived at my bullet wound, which had not quite healed. I left my hospital room, where Jack was already waiting for me.
" Hey buddy, how are you doing?" he asked, patting me on the shoulder.
"Well enough." I answered him sombrely. Ever since Jack knew about me and Bucky he was the one who woke me up from my nightmares and the one I could just talk to.
Right now he was trying to catch up with me, because although I was still limping slightly, I was moving at an incredible pace. I headed straight for the Cornel's office where the mission planning would take place. I pushed open the door and headed for the only chair that was still free. I simply ignored the curious glances that lay on me. I ignored Mr. Stark who was looking at me as if I were his latest experiment. And even before any of my teammates could say a word, Cornel Phillips entered the room and any comment was swallowed.
"Johann Schmidt belongs in the madhouse," Cornel began, "he thinks he's a god and is ready to blow up half the world, starting with the USA," he pointed to a map on the wall.
I knew Schmidt was insane, but even for him to be so insane that he thought he was a god, that was another level."He works with forces that we don't understand and that we're definitely not up to." Howard interjected, "If the man makes it across the Atlantic, he'll wipe out the East Coast in a single hour."
Now the Cornel spoke up again "Our only chance is to intercept him before he crosses the Atlantic."
"When will that be?" asked Jim.
"According to Dr. Zola, not twenty-four hours." replied the Cornel.
A reverent silence followed. But I got the feeling that there was another reason for this silence than the imminent extinction of the USA. "Did I miss anything?"
No one really seemed to want to talk, but then Jack nervously cleared his throat and began to speak calmly and softly " Dr. Zola's transport car was attacked, we assume that Hydra freed him."
I was about to bang on the table and probably break it into pieces. But I didn't, instead I took a deep breath and exhaled, "Well, that's unpleasant, but I'm sure he's not our biggest problem right now."
"You're right Capitan." the Cornel slammed a photo down on the table. It had a mountain on it "This is his current whereabouts, a bunker in Switzerland. five hundred metres underground."
The photo was passed around but I didn't look at it at all. I could almost feel that Bucky would be there. But again, another question is how we would get into this fortress.
Without knowing it, Tim provided me with the answer, "And how are we going to get in? I mean we can't just knock."
"Why not?" all heads were turned towards me "That's exactly what we'll do." I laid out my plan and threw the photo back on the table.
"Steve this is madness." spoke Jack what I'm sure everyone was thinking.
I started to grin, I was sure I looked like I was going crazy "Who says we're all going to do it."
Jack guessed my thoughts first and started to grin.
Yes my idea was dangerous, probably could even be called crazy, but I was sure it would work, it just had to.

I was riding Howard's upgraded motorbike through the forest, not two hundred metres from the Hydra base. I grinned when I heard the sound of Hydra motorbikes behind me. They shot their blue energy beams at me, but I had the foresight to strap my shield to my back and the beams bounced off. I pressed a button and a wall of flames spread out behind me, engulfing the six pursuers. But no sooner had I shaken off the first pursuers than the next ones built up in front of me. Ten men were shooting at me with ordinary machine guns. I pulled the shield off my back and put it on the steering wheel of the motorbike. I pressed another button and machine guns shot out of the front lights and returned fire. Howard had really done a good job. The men jumped out of the way, revealing a tank standing in a gap between two high walls. The tank started up and fired, I dodged and blew up the war machine with a missile. I hit the slope of the wall and landed on the other side, a sharp pain shooting into my bullet wound. I programmed the bike to continue straight myself and jumped off. I flung my shield, dodging shots which then hit the Hydra soldiers, disintegrating them into their atoms. Only peripherally did I catch my motorbike crashing into the front gate and blowing a hole in the entrance of the Hydra base with an explosion. I hurled a man into the air with pure force, I wasn't sure if he would survive the impact on the ground, but I didn't care. My mood of victory fizzled as two soldiers encircled me with a ring of fire and moments later I was looking down the machine barrels of two dozen weapons, any one of which could destroy my existence. I dropped my shield on the ground and raised my hands above my head. Without any resistance I allowed myself to be led away, for what none of the men around me knew was that my capture was an important part of my mad plan. The guards dragged me before their leader. The man I had last seen in the Hydra base in Austria. It seemed like an eternity since then. His bright red skull gleamed at me, apparently he hadn't bothered to put on his human mask after our clash.
"Capitan America!" he hissed, looking at me as if I were an insect that he had to get rid of as quickly as possible.
But I didn't dwell on it, because there was only one thing I wanted to know, only one thing that really interested me "Where is he?" I snarled at the man in front of me.
The leader of the Hydra twisted his face into a grim smile "Sargent Barnes? He's not here. He's safe and hidden in a base no one will ever find."
I wanted to pounce on him to beat it out of him where this base was, I was normally against unnecessary violence, but this was about Bucky. However I had forgotten about the two guards who had grabbed me by both arms, they struggled to hold me but they did.
"You're just a man and yet you keep messing up my plans. So tell me" Schmidt leaned towards me until his face was only a hand's width away from mine "what's so special about you?"
I laughed out " Nothing, I'm just a kid from Brooklyn."
I felt a punch to my nose and one to my stomach, causing my bullet wound to explode in pain. I fell to my knees and coughed.
Schmidt grabbed me by the chin, forcing me to look at him "You didn't really think you could take me, did you?"
I had to grin because I saw something behind him that he didn't. Jim, Gabe and Jaques who were sliding on a rope towards the front of the window. "Of course not, I'm just the distraction."
The Hydra leader and each of the ten guards turned towards the window front, which shattered and spat out three trigger-happy soldiers who immediately set about spreading panic among the guards. And what did their leader do? He simply ran away.
"Rogers! You might need this!" Jim tossed me my shield, which they must have picked up outside.
"Thank you!" I grabbed my shield and ran after Johann Schmidt. I was torn between wanting to make sure Bucky wasn't here and my duty to stop Johann Schmidt. But I could almost hear Bucky saying "If you don't stop him, he'll destroy half the USA, so go get him!"
I kept running after the red man, somewhere behind me a Hydra soldier yelled "Cut off one head and you grow two new ones...." then there was just a loud bang and I heard the voice of Cornel Phillips along with the click of a double barrel being reloaded "Let's go find two new ones!"
But I couldn't find two more, I was still running after the Red Skull and flung my shield as he tried to bolt a door. The shield got stuck in the door and blocked it. Out of nowhere, a robot appeared and shot fire at me, as I no longer had a shield, I took cover in an alcove and feverishly thought about how I could take this thing out without getting burned. But suddenly the robot just twitched and collapsed. A grinning Jack appeared from behind the pile of scrap metal, holding his revolver in his hand.
"Admit it, you had a snack on the way." I grinned.
"Shouldn't you...." he pointed vaguely in the direction I had been heading.
"Right!" I shouted and sprinted after Schmidt again. I ripped my shield out of the door ran down a corridor, straight into a battlefield. Americans were shooting at Hydra soldiers and I had to get through them to get to the plane I had just seen Johann Schmidt disappear into. I let my eyes wander through the hangar and spotted a long chain. I ran towards some stacked crates and jumped, holding onto the chain and swinging myself halfway across the hangar. I landed just before the plane the bombs were on. But I was too late, the engine had already been started and the plane was gaining speed. I started to run, but I knew myself that it was in vain. There are limits even to my abilities and running as fast as an aeroplane exceeded them one hundred percent. I hadn't counted on Cornel Phillips, though, who pulled up next to me in Johann Schmidt's car. Jack grinned at me from the back seat. "Jump in!" the Cornel urged me.
I didn't wait a second and sat down next to the man. The Cornel stepped on the gas and we shot off after the plane.
