3. Rookies First Fight
Autobot Base:
General Narration:
Skyfrost had spent her first night with the Autobots. And honestly, it went very well. The Autobots were getting ready for a mission, Ratchet had detected an energon signature. Though small the Autobots could use all the energon they can get.
Skyfrost's POV:
'Well, here goes first day with the Autobots. Hopefully I don't do anything stupid to blow my cover!' I thought to myself as I stretched and walked out of my berthroom. "Hey Sky! Good Morning, recharge well?" Smokescreen asked as he saw me walk out. "Um hey Smoke. Yeh I recharged pretty well thankyou." I replied back. "C'mon boss wants us in the main room. I think Rach' detected an energon signature." He said while he walked up the hallway, I followed close behind.
We both entered the main room only to hear Optimus giving out orders.
"Ratchet has detected two energon signatures. One greater than the other, we will send two teams to each location. Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee you will accompany me, and Smokescreen, you will groundbridge to the smaller energon signature."
'What?!' I thought to myself. "Optimus, with all due respect, I may be new to the team but I believe I am capable of checking out an energon signature." I reassured him, a little hurt that he thought I couldn't take a little energon mine! 'I MAY be a femme but I ain't WEAK!' I thought to myself.
It was silent, as Optimus thought it over for a while. "Very well, you may go with Smokescreen and assist him." He finally said."Haha! Rookie gets her first fight today!" Bulkhead laughed. 'Agh I am NOT a rookie! I could take you out in my sleep!' I thought to myself before snapping back into reality. "Thankyou Optimus." I said as I turned to Smokescreen, who had a small smile on his faceplate.
We both walked through the groundbridge and appeared in a rocky wasteland. Smokescreen walked around with an energon detector and it lead us to a solid cliff. "Energon must be behind or within this giant rock." he explained. "Shoot it?" I asked transforming my servos into blasters that emitted a purple-blue glow. He smirked back at me, "Shoot it." he agreed before doing the same as I did with his servos.
We started shooting at the cliff but were interrupted by a blue-green portal opening behind us. With two old friends coming out.
Knockout. And. Starscream.
'Oh yippee I am SO not gonna blow my cover today!' I thought to myself trying to contain my anger.
"Cons'!" Smokescreen yelled out, re-aiming his blasters to the two Decpeticons. "Sky! You take Knockout I'll get Screamy!" Smokescreen ran towards Starscream. Which left me with dear Knockout. He gave me the 'how's-your-life-been-with-the-Autobots' look before we ran at each other.
We went into a locked position, with both my servos in his, as we pushed against each others strength. "Knockout! What're you doing here?!" I quietly screamed at him, so I could express my anger at him but also not be heard by my 'teammate'. "Hey, the Big M wanted us here to investigate the energon signature. Can't really say 'no'." He said, just before I did a 360 and kicked him in the chassis, making him stumble back. he stared at his chassis for a moment longer, "Did you just- my finish- you- WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!?" He exclaimed to me. I couldn't help but laugh.
He came forward with his saw. I know he was mad but I also knew he would never inflict any permanent, life threatening damage towards me.
Gears changed, metal moved and plates slid on my back. Once the transforming sounds ceased, I reached behind me and pulled out my blade. My signature weapon.
My blade and his saw clashed. "Sorry Knocks, gotta keep up the charade, make it believable. By the way my Autobot alias is Skyfrost." I smiled, a silent apology within my expression. He saw it and forgave me. "Lovely choice and it's ok, I guess, you could've done worse." He said. "Damn right I could've done worse!" I smirked and jumped backwards.
I glanced to Smoke who was doing quite well with Starscream. While I was staring at Smoke, Knockout managed to land a punch right below my spark chamber, causing no permanent damage. "Agh!" I yelled out in pain. Knockouts face quickly went form a mischievous playful look to pure concern. "Cheap shot!" I yelled back at him with a smile on my face, that reassured Knockout he hadn't caused much harm. My smile instantly disappeared when Smokescreen turned around at the sound of my yell.
"Well, I'm going to go say 'hello' to your friend over there, while you get to say 'hello' to my friend over there!" Knockout said before running towards Smokescreen. Knockout scored another 'cheap shot' at Smokescreen before he could see it coming. I winced at the hit, that one looked like it really hurt. "Screamer! I'll handle the sports car, you take the femme." Knockout yelled to his partner. I saw Starscream glance at me and smirked before transforming and flying towards me.
He transformed again and landed on top of me pinning me down, making me lose my grip on my blade. "Ugh really Screamy?" I joked trying to escape his hold. "Listening to Knockout call me 'Screamer' is bad enough, having to listen to you calling me 'Screamy' as well, is worse!" He complained, still holding a firm grip. "I gotta admit, though we are on opposite sides, it's good to see you two again." I said to him quietly even though we were a great distance from the others.
He smiled back and loosened his grip allowing me to tuck my legs under him and kick him off. He fell back, "Well played!" Starscream said, impressed with my escape. "I learnt from the best!" I replied back, remembering those early memories of when I began my fighting and being taught by no other than Starscream.
Starscream decided to go long range and brought out his blasters and shot at me multiple times, slightly putting his aim off to make sure he didn't shoot me. The shots were still pretty close but I dodge them with precise accuracy, not letting a single blast touch me. I saw Starscream smirk at my skill before he transformed and flew to Knockout.
"Knockout there's nothing here. And if there is some energon it'll be a small amount, we don't have the time to mine for it with these two here. Let's go!" Starscream yelled out to the red 'Con. Knockout simply nodded before shooting at the ground causing a lot of dust to rise fogging our vision. When the smoke cleared both of them were gone.
"Aghhh, hey, Sky, you ok?" Smokescreen asked as he limped towards me. "Yeh I think I'm ok, no spark threatening damage." I replied back, half lying. I had barley been hurt since I battled two of my old friends.
"That's good- agh!" He said before he fell to the ground clutching his abdomen. I ran towards him, kneeling in front of him.
"Smoke, you need medical attention. C'mon." I helped him up. "But- the energon." He managed to spit the words out.
"It doesn't matter, hopefully Optimus had better luck than us, you're hurt, we don't have time." I explained before messaging Ratchet through our com-link to open a groundbridge. The all to familiar sound of the whirring blue-green portal appeared in front of me.
I half-carried half-dragged Smokescreen back into base. Ratchet didn't pay much attention to us until he heard the sound of metal being scrapped across the concrete floor as I dragged Smokescreen through.
"By the AllSpark! What happened?!" He yelled at us. "Knockout and Starscream, that's what." I answered him, smiling on the inside as memories of my two old partners flooded back into my processor.
"Put him on the med-berth." Ratchet instructed. I did as he said. "Will he be alright?" I asked genuinely concerned. "I believe so, the exterior damage doesn't look spark threatening, but I'll still have to run some scans."
Seconds later Optimus and his small team appeared, slowly walking through the ground ridge. To my joy I saw Arcee pushing a trolley-like object filled with gleaming energon.
Optimus spotted Smokescreens still figure. "Skyfrost, What happened?" He asked worried for his young soldier. I explained every thing to the Prime and he walked into the back of the base to unload the energon and store it away.
I decided to return to my berthroom and recharge. It didn't last for long.
I was awakened by a knock on my door. I walked up and opened it to find no other than Smokescreen standing before me.
"Hey Sky." He said quietly. "Smoke you're up, you're ok!" I exclaimed. I noticed him cringe at the volume of my voice. "Oops sorry." I apologised, a little embarrassed. "Um would you like to come in?" I offered, realising that he was probably very weak and tired of standing.
He nodded and walked in and sat down on my berth. I sat next to him.
"I just wanted to thank you." He said. "For what?" I asked. "For helping me, and kinda saving me, and bringing me back to base and-" "Hey Smoke, we're both Autobots you shouldn't expect anything less from me." I smiled back at him. He smiled and got up to walk to the exit.
The door opened and he stepped out, he turned around but didn't say anything. He just.....hugged me, flashed a smile, and walked down the hallway.
'Woah, that felt...kinda nice' I thought to myself as the doors to my room shut. I smiled at the thought of Smoke as I laid back on my berth for a well deserved recharge.
