23. Teamwork Part 1

Nightblades POV

"Ok we get in save Nightstar and out." Smokescreen was giving out orders. The last thing I wanted to do was listen to him, but if my sister needed help I was going to do whatever it takes.

I nodded in understanding, arms crossed, I was determined to save Nightstar. Optimus was running through a few minor details to the rest of the team like the ship and any guards that may be around. I didn't need to listen to that scrap, I just got off that flying hunk of metal.

I stood in the corner tapping my pede impatiently, wanting to activate the ground bridge and get going.  In the corner of my optic I saw the blue femme turn around and give me an unimpressed look. She crossed her arms as I rolled my optics and turned in her direction.

"Are you gonna listen or what?! Optimus is briefing us on the mission." She said, with a little more attitude than I would've liked, but I pushed that aside for the time being. "Sweetheart, I just got off that ship, I know where everything is and I know that there are guards around almost ever corner." I replied back. She looked taken aback and furious after I answered her. "Sweetheart?! Who do you think you are?!" She spat. "Listen, I'm just a mech who wants to save his sister ok!" I said impatiently, tired of this scrap. She relaxed a little and crossed her arms once more. "Well, considering you don't want to listen to Optimus, or anyone for that matter, you don't seem that determined to save your sister." She said. 'That's it! She's gone way too far!' I stormed up to her, "Watch it alright! I am more determined than anyone right now to save Nightstar and if you think or say anything otherwise you'll have another thing coming. You got it!" I shouted at her. By now everyone was staring at us. She glared at me before turning around and waiting for Optimus's orders.

I returned to my corner and continued staring at the wall waiting for the ground bridge.

Smokescreen then walked up to me and looked a little awkward, as if he didn't exactly know what to do. I sighed and faced him. "What do you want Smokescreen." I asked. "Look, I know we didn't get off to a fantastic start, and. . . What I'm tryna say is. . . I'm sorry." He apologised nervously. I nodded, "I-I'm sorry as well." I replied back sincerely. He put a servo on my shoulder, it felt strange yet comfortable at the same time. "Let's go save your sister." He said determined. I gave him a small smile, which for once wasn't forced onto my faceplate. "Let's go save your sparkmate." I replied just as determined. 'Maybe he isn't as bad as I thought.'

We were knocked out of our sincere conversation by the whirring of the ground bridge being fired up. I was ready to save her. Just as Smokescreen was. We charged through the portal and appeared in some hallway of the ship. And with our luck a whole squadron of vehicons were marching through the corridors and spotted us.

Once the whole group was through, the portal  shut behind us. I transformed my servo into my blaster and was ready to shoot them. "Autobots!" One of the mindless drones yelled out, as soon as the words left his mouth, a series of blasts were flying back and forth from us to the 'Cons.

Some vehicons were walking up to us as the rest fired from afar. I was shooting at the many vehicons that were charging towards me. I then caught sight of Arcee running up to me, I was confused as to why she was charging in my direction and not the enemies but I kept shooting. As she got closer she flipped over me and my optics followed her as she spun through the air and landed behind me, taking down a vehicon that would've shot me in the back and most probably extinguished my spark for good.

Honestly, I was speechless. Not only was that move flawless, but, she just saved my life. "Woah. . . Thanks?" I thanked her, my tone sounding slightly confused and stunned. She nodded in acknowledgement and continued taking down vehicons.

We were slowly depleting their numbers, taking one 'Con down after the other. There were just a few left to take down. I looked to my right and saw Arcee having a wee bit of trouble. She was holding one 'Con, trying to keep him off of her holding his wrists in her servos. She couldn't let go to get her blaster out or else the vehicon would go for her spark chamber. Her helm then snapped to the right as another vehicon was holding his cannon up, charging it up. I wasn't slow to react. I held my blaster up and with such precision, fired and watched the blast fly between Arcee and the vehicon in front of her and hit the vehicon in the middle of his chassis. I then quickly shot the vehicon Arcee was holding off.

As his lifeless body fell to the ground she looked at me blankly. "T-thanks. . ." She said quietly. I smirked at her, "You're welcome." I quickly shot the remaining three vehicons and transformed my blaster back to my servo.

"Nightstar would probably be in the cells at the back of the ship wouldn't she?" Bulkhead suggested. Smokescreen and myself nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's go!" We both said in unison as we headed to the back.

Nightstars POV

My whole body ached, It was a never ending episode of unbearable pain. My optic shutters were heavy as I tried to pull them open. I was hanging from the ceiling by energon cuffs.

My legs ached my arms my helm, everything. I was tired and sore, I just wanted to be home with my brother and sparkmate, I would give anything to be with them right now.

Megatron had been coming in here and personally giving me punishment and torturing me himself, how lucky could I get? I'd been hit, cut, prodded with energon sticks and who knows what else. Megatron had even called in Shockwave to perform his infamous mind tricks. He didn't use the cortical psychic patch for some reason, but hey, I ain't complaining. He did however poke cords and wires into my helm. Must've sent psychic waves through the wires and into my helm. That was unbearable, the worst pain I've ever been in!

As I was about to rest my helm and try to regain as much strength as I could, I heard the dreadful sound of the automated doors opening. My eyes slowly trailed up off the ground and at the figure standing in the doorway. My spark fluttered in my chamber as I saw the figure before me, as a weak smile made its way to my faceplate.

"S-smokescreen. . ." I said, my voice barley audible. The look on Smokescreen's face was something I'd never ever seen before. He wore an evil scowl and his optics turned darker. A wave of confusion passed over me before I was knocked out of my trance as Smokescreen pulled his arm back and punched me in my stomach. I cried out in pain and winced as the pain exploded in my stomach and flew throughout the rest of my body.

I looked back up at Smokescreen painfully and saw his figure shake. . .as if he were a hologram with a glitch. I narrowed my optics trying to figure out what was happening. After a few more seconds Smokescreen's figure changed into Nightblade. I looked at him confused and shook my helm furiously, trying to see clearly. I looked back up at the figure and saw my brothers form warp into Megatron.

". . . Megatron." I spat, hatred dripping off my tone. He circled around me. "Yes. How dare you call me that wretch Smokescreen." He scolded. I hallucinated, the only thing that could explain that would either be the after effect of Shockwaves work or the loss of energon. "Smokescreen. . . is twice the mech. . . you will ever be." I snarled at him. He gave me a look that needed no words to let me know what was coming next. He grabbed the energon prod from the table and jabbed me in my side. I yelled out in agony, my screams high enough to pierce anyone's audio receptors. I wanted it to stop.

After a few more klicks he pulled back. "Are you used to that feeling yet?" He asked deviously. I didn't answer him. ". . . you will be when I'm done with you." He continued. I continued looking at the ground, avoiding all optic contact.

He brought his face closer to mine and lifted my helm up, forcing me to look him in the optic. "Your friends are not coming. I have guards on high alert for any Autobot, especially your dear brother. In fact, if he does come to rescue you, my troops will capture him and I will make you watch, as he is tortured till he can no longer stand it." Megatron threatened, his optics dark, his voice deep, it truly did make me shiver in fear, but I was not going to show that.

I looked him dead in the optics. ". . You will not lay a servo on my brother, and if you do anything to hurt him, I will hunt you down. . . and kill you. No matter how long it takes. No matter what I have to do." I said bravely, every word of that was true. He stared at me a little longer before taking a step back. I was awaiting a punch or cut or prod but what I got was something I rather have not heard. He threw his head back and laughed. And laughed. Darkly. Evilly. After his maniacal episode he came closer to me once again. "You will be here forever Nightstar, you are not getting out." I ignored him and looked at  the ground.

He moved back to the table and reached for the prod.  I shut my optics tight awaiting the striking pain that I was about to feel. As soon as the prod made contact with my armor I couldn't hold my screams in. My cries of agony echoed and bounced off the walls and throughout the ship.

Nightblade's POV

We reached the cells and opened the door, what I saw shattered my spark into a million pieces.

"WHERE IS SHE?!" I yelled as I marched into the empty cell searching for her.

"What?! How is she not here?" Smokescreen questioned.

As I kept searching for a sign of where she might be an audio piercing scream echoed throughout the ship. My optics darted to Smokescreen.

"Nightstar." We said simultaneously. It then hit me, "Wait, there's two places she could be. If she isn't in the cells then she's either in the torture chamber or the lab being experimented on, most probably by Shockwave." I explained. "Then we shall split up-" Optimus began. "Smokescreen and myself will investigate the torture chambers." I ordered. I then looked back at Optimus, ". . If that's ok with you." I quickly added. "Do you believe a team of two will suffice?" Optimus asked. "Optimus, we've got this trust us." Smokescreen chimed in. After a few seconds of contemplating he finally nodded. "If there is too much trouble you are to comm us immediately." Optimus ordered. "Will do!" I called out as Smokescreen and myself had already started our way to the torture chambers.

"We've got this Smokescreen." I said as we ran.

"I know we do." Smokescreen replied, flashing a small smile.

'We can do this'
