Bulkhead

Bulkhead grinned as he hurried home, excited to tell his brother about how he joined the Autobot cause. As he burst through the front door and to his brothers room, he stopped in the doorway when he saw the bulky blue mech talking to a silver mech that Bulkhead had grown to loathe. Breakdown turned and smiled at his brother.

"Bulkhead! Just the mech I wanted to see! I told Megatron that both me and you were gonna join the Decepticons", Breakdown grinned.

Bulkhead stared at his brother, before chuckling nervously.

"Heh... about that Breakdown... I just... joined the Autobots..." Bulkhead explained, looking away from his brothers optics.

When silence met his audio receptors, Bulkhead looked back at the blue mech, who was looking at him with sad yellow optics. Megatron chuckled evilly through the screen.

"Breakdown, now is your chance to prove yourself to the Decepticon cause. Kill this Autobot and any who side with him", the warlord sneered. Breakdown opened his mouth to protest, but Megatron cut him off. "Unless you plan on betraying me so soon?"

Breakdown sighed, before transforming his servo into the hammers he had been fitted with. "Sorry, Bulk."

Bulkhead's widened and he quickly grabbed the hammer as it was brought towards his helm. He shoved Breakdown backwards, into the computer that Megatron was watching from. The screen broke easily, leaving the two brothers alone.

"Breakdown, don't do this!" Bulkhead pleaded. Breakdown ignored him as he got up, and aimed the shoulder cannon at the bulky green mech. A missile launched at Bulkhead, who quickly dodged to the side, crashing through one of the walls. The explosion rang out behind him, and Bulkhead heard Breakdown cry out angrily.

Bulkhead transformed and drove away, heading towards Iacon, his spark jumping around his torso in fear of his brother.

~~~~~
As time went on, Bulkhead found more more his friends and team members disappearing. From the reports he heard from the few that survived, they had been killed by a bulky blue mech with shining yellow optics. Everytime he heard a story about the mech, his optics would shutter in pain and sadness and memory, though no one knew why as he had not shared the information that the mech was his brother. He missed his brother dearly, and only wished that Breakdown had chosen to be an Autobot with him. He feared what may become of his brother if he continued along this path.
~~~~~

Everything was different on this new planet Bulkhead was stationed on. He had left the team he had previously been on, the Wreckers, to join up with the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, and they had ended up on this dusty planet with organic life. He was unsure to think of it until he met this adorable femme human, who was loud and tough, just like a wrecker. His best friend,  Wheeljack and him had decided to make her the first human wrecker, which made her ecstatic.

Months passed on this planet, and Bulkhead had more encounters with Breakdown, which sometimes got his human friend in trouble. She had almost died several times because of his brother, and Bulkhead's spark broke each time.

Every time Bulkhead saw his brother, he recognized him less and less. He didn't know what Megatron had turned his brother into, and he was afraid to ask. There was one time when he saw a bit of the familiar brother he knew, but Starscream was quick to force Breakdown fight Bulkhead.

Bullhead sighed, and sat up. Once again, his thoughts before recharge were plagued by his brother and what he had become. He missed all the fun times they shared before the war, whether it was going to gladiator fights and cheering on the gladiators that fought. They would make bets with each other, laughing when the gladiator they bet on won, or groaning when they lost. Bulkhead missed those times.

A sudden ping startled him and he let out a yelp. He was glad the walls were soundproof for if Miko had heard him, she would surely make fun of him again. His mouth quirked up into a small smile as he thought of his human partner.

Another ping broke his thoughts, and he finally realized it was his com-link. He didn't recognize the signal that was trying to contact him, but he answered anyway. A sad and weary voice that he recognized spoke.

"Breakdown is one with the Allspark now."

Bulkhead felt his spark drop, and he shook his helm softly. "No", he whsipered. "No, he can't be."

Knockout didn't respond for a little bit. "I'm sorry, Bulkhead."

Bulkhead placed his helm in one of his hands and let out a soft cry. His brother was gone. He had no family left. He didn't get to fix things with his brother. Growling in anger, he slammed his fist into his berth, and spoke quietly to Knockout.

"Who terminated him? And why did you call me to tell me of his death?"

Knockout sighed softly. "Airachnid. And Megatron tasked me with going through his personal belongings. I came across his journal. There were many entries about his brother and how he regretted how things ended between them. I called you to see if you knew who his brother was."

Bulkhead sunk softly, his anger gone as he gripped his forehead, scratching it softly. He tried to hold back the sad sobs that wanted to escape. However, one escaped as he spoke.

"I am his brother", he choked out. Knockout was silent again as he took in that information

"I see", Knockout murmured. "In his journal, he mentioned something he wanted you to have. He didn't say what it was, or where exactly it was, he just said that it was in an obvious place but one you wouldn't have looked before."

As Bulkhead thought, his mind went to his subspace. He didn't really look in there, only really having Miko in it whenever she stayed in his alt form and he transformed, or sometimes her guitar when she forgot it. Sighing he opened it, and found a datapad that he hadn't seen before.

He turned it on, and found that it was a video. He made sure the connection to Knockout had ended, which it had, before he started playing it. And as it played, sobs started to escape his mouth again.

"Hey, Bulk", a tired Breakdown said as he slumped in front of the camera. "I'm... I'm really sorry for how things ended with us... I... I didn't want to join the Decepticons... Megatron... he threatened..." Breakdown's voice cracked as he fought back his own sobs. "Megatron threatened to kill you if I didn't join. I didn't think he would make my first action as one to kill you. I regret every moment of our brotherhood ending... I want to be brothers again. I don't know when you'll find this message, but hopefully it won't be when I'm scrap metal."

Breakdown paused, and sat up. "I'm sorry, Bulk. But Megatron has been siphoning away my good memories of you piece by piece and replacing them with fake memories of us fighting and never getting along. I've tried to fight against it, but I'm slowly losing the good memories of you. I only know Megatron is doing something with my mind because Knockout tells me."

Breakdown smiled at the red mech's name. "Knockout is really amazing. He's always been there for me. Kinda like how you were. I miss ya, Bulk. Hope to be your brother again soon."

"Did I hear my name?" A familiar red mech's voice sounded through the room. Breakdown turned to look away from the camera.

"No, Knockout, you didn't", Breakdown spoke softly. The mad doctor finally came into view of the camera and peered at the screen.

"What are you doing?" Knockout asked confused. Breakdown looked at the floor.

"Nothing important", Breakdown mumbled. Knockout raised and optic ridge and placed his servo on his hip.

"Then why are you recording yourself?" Knockout asked. Breakdown looked up at his friend before looking back at the video.

"It's... it's for my brother..."

"Oh? And who's your-"

The video cut off there, and Bulkhead sat there, just staring at the screen. His sobs had quieted a while ago, and he laid back down on his berth. He held the data pad to his chest, before turning and placing it on the floor.

'Oh, Breakdown... I hope you're doing good in the Well of Allsparks... I miss you...'

As Bulkhead fell into recharge, a soft whisper brushed across his audio receptors.

"I miss you too, Bulk. But I hope I won't be seeing you for several more eons, brother."
