Chapter Sixteen

It was a few more days until Miko was discharged. During that time, Arcee and Bee had expressed their concerns to Bulkhead, and the three tried to talk to Jack and Raf about it, but Raf froze up when he thought of Bee in the other dimension, and Jack ended up having to calm him down. The three didn't try again since, though Bee was now even more worried. Bulkhead was too, having known what his counterpart had done to his partner. Arcee and Starscream saw more of each other when Optimus and Megatron got together, and eventually created their plan. The normal Autobots and Shattered Glass Decepticons had called each other more simply to discuss what their counterparts were like. Should they meet them on their world, they wouldn't be too surprised at what was happening. Arcee, Bee, and Bulkhead got a better idea then of who they were, and Bee felt responsible for whatever his counterpart had done to Raf.

The Autobots and Shattered Glass Decepticons had also discussed the planetary alignment which would be happening in less than a day.

"This has to be when they'd act," Starscream muttered, exasperated with the silence of the Autobots on his side. Arcee nodded in agreement. The Decepticons had been strangely silent, too.

"If anything happens to Earth because-" Optimus cut Ratchet off by setting a servo on his shoulder plate. They all knew Ratchet felt guilty for this.

"We still don't know what would happen during the prophecy and this alignment, exactly. But we need to be prepared for anything," Megatron muttered, meeting Optimus' optics. Optimus nodded in agreement. Jack and Raf were at Miko's, keeping her company as she recuperated. She wasn't allowed to go anywhere, which she was okay with. She didn't want to go to the base, not when Jack and Raf were keeping her updated on the whole 'other dimension' ordeal. She had a few broken bones and her head hurt like the pits, but she had convinced the doctors that she could leave the hospital if she stayed at home in bed. Her parents allowed Jack and Raf to visit after her parents talked with Jack to try and figure out the cause of the "car accident". Luckily Agent Fowler had given him details to make up and stick to, and even though Jack didn't lie well, her host parents just took it as trauma. Both worked, so they appreciated Jack and/or Raf coming in after school to be with her so she wasn't alone the entire day.

"Hey, Miko," Jack greeted when the two made their way up to Miko's room.

"Hey, Jack-Rabbit," Miko greeted, giving him a small smile. "How's school?"

"The teachers were way too excited about the planetary alignment," Raf muttered. "I picked up your homework."

While Miko was out of school, Raf had taken initiative to tutor her and help her with her work. Miko couldn't do much with her head, but she could do enough to get a few math problems done.

The three hung out in her room most of the afternoon, but quickly noticed it was getting dark outside.

"The alignment must be starting," Raf muttered.

"How...how did that prophecy go? When...forty-seven spheres align..."

"...a perpetual conflict will culminate on a world forged from chaos," Raf continued.

"And...the weak will perish in the shadow of a rising darkness," Jack finished. "Would...that be...Megatron?"

"Or Optimus?" Miko added. The three exchanged worried looks. What was going to happen to their planet?

*

"Prime!" Agent Fowler cried. "Been watching the news? Mother Nature's got a twitch in her britches."

"What?" Arcee replied. The Decepticons were quiet as they let the Autobots take the transmission. Bishop hadn't walked in, so they were concerned when it wasn't mirroring their side.

"There have been seven major earthquakes at the exact same magnitude at the exact same time as a volcanic eruption. All over the globe, on different tectonic plates...in theory, unrelated-"

"If they hadn't happened at the exact same time," Ratchet finished in understanding.

"There have been multiple other occasions of storms around the world. Don't tell me your 'cons ended up building some sort of weather machine."

"One that powerful? Highly unlikely," Ratchet muttered.

"But the Decepticons are planning something," Bulkhead added. "What are we missing? What do we not know?" he asked angrily. The others were just as lost as he was, and there was no telling what Megatron and Optimus were planning.

"Ratchet...bridge us to each epicenter of the earthquakes. Perhaps they will hold something in common."

Ratchet nodded in reply to Optimus' request and moved over to the GroundBridge controls to accommodate the others.

"Meanwhile, I'll see what the pentagon knows about all of this. Stay in touch. Fowler, out," Fowler ended the transmission, leaving the Autobots in an uneasy silence.

"Would you like assistance?" Megatron asked.

"No," Optimus replied firmly. "Your world may soon fall into chaos as well."

"Chaos..." Ratchet whispered. He stopped typing on the controls and quickly moved back to the main console. Optimus wanted to ask, but decided against it for now. Ratchet typed quickly on his keyboard, and soon the map that Fowler had shown them changed, and red surrounded the area of the dots, one especially on the volcanic eruption.

"This is where dark energon signals are coming from," Ratchet explained as he typed again, searching for something else.

"And this..." he muttered as he finished. "Shows the tremors causing the quakes."

Surprising to everyone, they originated at Earth's core.

"I'm pretty sure quakes don't start there," Bulkhead remarked.

"No, they don't," Ratchet replied. "They're tiny tremors...rising and falling...like..."

"...like a sparkpulse," Knockout finished.

"Dark Energon is Unicron's blood, in theory-"

"I...don't think that's theory anymore," Arcee pointed out. The Autobots exchanged worried looks with each other, now understanding what had happened. Bee warbled urgently, looking over at the screen.

"No, it does not seem as if Primus has awoken yet. We do have a planetary alignment...but with Optimus being a direct...desciple of Primus, should I say, it is unclear as to what our Autobots are planning. We will be here, should you require backup," Megatron replied to the scout. The others nodded, before the Earth started to shake.

"Another Earthquake?" Ratchet cried.

*

"Optimus, swiftly!"

Optimus' orange optics narrowed as he approached the spark of Unicron. The two planned on the Matrix to aid in their focus. They didn't plan on the Matrix sending Unicron back into stasis, but rather, it "aiding Unicron in his effort", as Megatron had put it. The mech was ambitious, Optimus would give him that.

Optimus had already traveled to his Earth's core, the Matrix leading him to Primus himself. He had had his audience, and their plan he and Megatron had created were proposed.

However, Optimus had his own plan, one he and Primus had seperately created.

He smiled a little to himself under his mask as he summoned the power of the Matrix. Orange energy glowed around him, before his chest plates parted, and the energy of the matrix flowed into the spark of Unicron, and purple and orange mixed together and seemed to fight until purple seemed to almost...give up, leaving orange. Megatron looked over at Optimus in confusion.

"I thought you had-augh!" Megatron screamed, gripping his helm as his optics glowed a bright, and then dark, lavender.

"Megatron?" Optimus asked, looking over at him in slight concern. Megatron was on one knee plate, holding his helm and groaning a little in pain, until it stopped, and he let go of his helm. His optics were back to their normal red. He noticed Optimus' optics had dialed back a shade of orange and became more red, and an actual optic could be seen. The Matrix must have effected Optimus as much as the Dark Energon effected him.

"What...what happened?"

"It seemed...we were wrong," Optimus replied, his mask retracting to reveal a small frown. He extended a servo out to Megatron, who took it and stood. Megatron frowned in return.

"So...what would be the plan now?"

"Well, my counterpart still exists, as does yours. I am sure they would stand in our way of conquering both worlds together, and I am sure you would agree." Megatron nodded, though looked back over at the spark.

"And, Primus?"

"I can still sense his thoughts and emotions. The energy will, eventually, dissipate. I have known Primus to be my Earth's core for some time, and the Matrix is what allows us to work as one." Optimus smiled a little, though it managed to somehow send a shiver up Megatron's back struts, though he hid that well.

"Then...I do believe we have an Autobot base to locate."

"Or a human residence," Optimus replied, his smile widening even more. Megatron raised an optic ridge, but his expression was that of amusement.

So I was gonna add a bit more but this was a good place to stop. *cue evil laughter*

Thanks to Arya_Skye for getting me back into my writing groove for this book. I have many ideas now. *evil laughter returns*

I think Optimus and Megatron's relationship is one where they both hate the other and they both know it but put up with each other and act civil to achieve a greater purpose until then.

And then they're always surprised when someone double-crosses them anyway. *shrug*

Thank you for reading! I'm excited to update the next chapter (even though that'll take me three years too).
