Ch. 20
(The previous updates were incomplete, Wattpad was glitching on me. This is the complete chapter.)
The Decepticons were jerks.
The absence of any harm falling upon Jennie was a plus, however, they didn't make any effort whatsoever in treating her well verbally. Most of them didn't speak to her, and if any of them did, it was always something snappy or rude or offensive, with the exception of an occasional comment from Breakdown, whenever he was in charge of watching her. The responsibility was passed along the ranks, as Megatron rarely took it upon himself to carry the box around and listen to her complain. She slowly got to know everyone. She found Breakdown and Knockout the most enjoyable, as they were always together when she was around, and she would sit back and listen to their conversations, laugh at Knockout's vanity, and bombard Breakdown with questions every so often. On occasion, he would politely answer. Soundwave was creepy and boring. He didn't speak, or even acknowledge her, only worked and ignored her as he did so. Now, Starscream was one of the worst. His blind ambition annoyed her... and when he wasn't fantasizing about Megatron's demise and giving himself unrealistic titles, he was threatening and harassing her with his hatred for humans, complaining about them and Megatron's poor choice in taking one into custody. She decided she didn't like him very much. The drones were like Soundwave, and didn't speak to her often, and when they did, they were mocking her species and laughing with eachother. She didn't like them much either. When Megatron did watch over her, he was more intimidating. She only rambled on the occasion, with him, when he was in a good mood. The other times, he was either ignoring her, or listing off all the horrible things he could do to her and the Autobots, surely to shatter her confidence and frighten her... and he did succeed at that. He could do many horrific things, to her and the Autobots, now that he had the leverage... That was absolutely terrifying. The more she thought about it, the more she missed Ratchet, and how nice it felt to feel safe around him. She missed that feeling of safety. Somehow, he, they, would get to her. It would work out somehow.
But her safety was slowly drifting more into jeopardy. While, as the first two weeks went by, the Autobots did hand over half their resources, dropping off food for Jennie with it, Megatron's satisfaction was running out. The Autobots were slowly weakening, the little energon they brought in being split in half... and turned over to their enemy. Jennie imagined how frustrating that had to be for them... and it was paying a price. She often heard the drones boasting about the sudden desperation in their searches for energon, and the sudden dip in their fight. It's not like they could risk being wounded, with such low resources... Jennie felt horrible about what it must be doing to them. Megatron was well aware of this, but he seemed to be wanting more, like the thirsty mech he was. That scared Jennie. He had been conversing with Soundwave the previous time she was near him... and the key words she picked from the conversation were along the lines of 'interrogate', 'capture', 'hunt', and 'devastate'... and many more that scared her just as much. He had to be looking out to do something... something bad, obviously. The only thing Jennie wanted- other than to not be on the Nemesis- was to be able to warn the 'bots. But there wasn't really anything she could do to warn them, being trapped like this. She was incredibly curious as to what Megatron's plan was, but she found it pretty idiotic to waltz over and ask him, him being the mech he was. So all Jennie found herself able to do was wait.
But God, waiting was hard.
The Autobots finding her was more a hope than an anticipation. She could only believe that they would find a way to get to her, rather than expecting them to come and safe her. She believed in them, but even still... She could only hope. But that hope was beaten on and pushed away repeatedly aboard the Nemesis, and while she at heart believed that her guardian would find her as he promised, it didn't help that the Decepticons continued to succeed in their plans. The fear of them continued to tear away at her and grind her down... the more it happened, the more her hopes drained, little by little, bit by bit. As much as as it hurt her to doubt the 'bots, the fear hurt her even more. She did get to see them, at the drop-offs of resources, but she never got to interact. All she did was sit there in her little box and stare at Ratchet, and take her food as the Decepticons dumped it into the box. Seeing Ratchet always made her hopeful, but, it didn't always last. She just wanted to talk to him. She just wanted to talk to him in somewhere other than in the Decepticons' hold. Those hopes, deep within, remained, but they were hard to resurface.
Especially when things took a sudden turn.
Suddenly she wasn't in her little box. Suddenly, she was dangling in chains, in a dark room with a single light source right above her, pooling over her and a small portion of the floor. And suddenly, she felt much, much more in danger.
Megatron's new plan was now in motion.
