So It Wasn't a Dream.../Meeting Agent Fowler-Bumblebee
Here is your long overdue and awaited update! I know it's a little late to be just publishing it but I've worked for over an hour to get this right for you guys. Hope you like it!
Waking up in the morning, there was only one thought that went through your head.
What the heck.
Whoever said you actually had to get up in the morning should just cease to exist, even if they're almost definitely dead and it's probably a good idea not to waste an entire day but whatever it's comfortable and they can go mind their own business.
With a groan you open your eyes glare at the ceiling. What the heck. Sitting up, you stretch your arms above your head and let out a yawn, rubbing your eyes and wrapping a blanket around your shoulders to keep out the cold of the morning.
You make your way downstairs by way of graceful half-falling-half-dragging yourself over, sitting at your countertop with a bowl of cereal and a cup of (favorite morning drink). Everything is quiet, save for the birds outside and the distant sound of cars on the road. Your eyes widen.
"Cars!" You yell out, almost spilling your drink in your sudden outburst. "Oh my god, Bumblebee!"
Suddenly awake you let out a squeal of excitement, gulping down the last of your breakfast and rushing back up to your room, throwing on some black shorts and a t shirt, slyly using some yellow-gold eyeshadow just because. You were all ready to go, but for some reason, the world hated you and decided to hide your other shoe somewhere in the disaster that was your room. Running around, you smacked your head against your bed frame when the honk of a horn outside scared you.
"Ow!" You hissed, rubbing your head. "One second!" You shouted, not really knowing if he heard you or not.
You glare around at everything in your room until you spot your other shoe, laying obnoxiously obvious near the door. You groan in annoyance and slip it on, grabbing your phone and running out the door to the fresh day. The fresh cold day. You shiver as you rush over to the black and yellow camaro, opening the door and practically throwing yourself in. Why did I wear shorts again?
"Morning Y/N!" Bumblebee chirped, starting off once he made sure you're all buckled in. "Are you okay?"
"I'm not much of a morning person." You grumble. "Waking up is hard enough, but then having to deal with the cold and losing a shoe makes it even more annoying."
"Sorry to hear that." Bumblebee chuckles and you hear the rush of air as he turns on the heaters, sighing in the warmth.
"Thanks." You sigh, slumping in the seat.
"You're welcome!" He whirrs, "Anything for you."
The cold completely forgotten, your body flushes with warmth, your stomach basically somersaulting as his words make your heart flutter.
With a slightly shaky voice that makes you want to slap yourself, you ask, "What exactly are we going to be doing today?"
Bumblebee pauses. "You know, I don't really know. There may be a mission or two to run, but otherwise we can just hang out at base. I'm sure Ratchet will find something to yell at us for."
You chuckle, and as you enter the desert, you look out to see the sun just above the peaks, still just waking up. Lucky.
"You know, it was like a totally normal day today when I woke up." You said. "Nothing was out of the ordinary, I got up, complaining all the while, went down and had some breakfast, and as I was sitting there, everything was quiet except for some birds and cars. And then I was like, 'cars!' and remembered everything that happened yesterday and then it was a mad rush to get ready." You chuckled. "I think I still have a bump on my head from when I hit it on my bed."
Bumblebee's laugh echoed throughout the cabin, "At least your morning was exciting!" He laughed.
By that point you had reached base and were pulling in when you heard someone yelling.
"Uh-oh..." Bumblebee muttered.
He pulled in and swung around, blocking you from everyone's view as you climbed out. When he transformed, you were still hidden behind his leg. You looked up and met the scout's worried optics, and decided if he was going through the trouble to hide you, maybe staying quiet would be a good thing.
You looked over to see Optimus already looking at you two. You made eye contact for but a second, and something like nervousness, amusement, and trepidation all mixed in those sapphire optics of his.
"Bumblebee." He nodded in acknowledgement.
"And where were you?" That voice called again.
The scout pointed at himself. "Me?"
"Yes you! There anybody else here besides Prime?"
You couldn't help your curiosity and peeked out from behind Bumblebee's foot. A middle aged black man in a fancy suit was standing with his hands against the metal railing, watching the two bots.
"I was out for a drive." Bumblebee chirped with a shrug.
The man looked a little dumbfounded. "What?"
The bot's shoulders sank. "I was out...for a dddrrriiiivvveee." He said slowly, enunciating every word and making driving motions with his hand.
"Oh, driving. Alright." The man said. You were trying your best not to laugh, and when you looked up at Optimus, you saw even he had a slight smirk of entertainment.
When he turned away, Bumblebee shook his head and looked down at you. His wings perked up as he noticed your silently shaking form. "Not everyone understands me you know." He said, although it was in fun, his voice a light laugh.
Right at that moment, Bulkhead and Arcee drove in, the two kids hopping out as their guardians transformed. Try as he may to stop her, Bumblebee's discreet begging to be quiet did no such thing as Miko screeched in delight.
"Y/N!" She squealed, running over to you and hugging you.
You chuckled nervously. "H-hi Miko."
She pulled away with a slight frown. "What's wrong?"
You're mouth opened to speak but you were interrupted by that now familiar voice.
"Who is that? Who are you?" The man asked, looking down at you.
You winced a little and turned to look at Bumblebee. He nodded in defeated encouragement, lifting you up once more into his hand.
You looked over to the man you were now level with. "Hello, my name is Y/N."
"Agent Fowler." He said with a raised eyebrow. "May I ask, why you are here?"
You smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of your neck. "I may or may not have followed Bumblebee and seen him in a fight with Knockout."
Agent Fowler turned to Bumblebee. "You let a civilian tail you and you didn't even know?" He scolded.
Bumblebee's door wings fell and he let out a sad whirr. You frown.
"It wasn't his fault, I kind of have a habit of being in the wrong places at the wrong time. It was all on me."
Agent Fowler turns his attention back to you. "Well young lady, what if Bumblebee hadn't been there? What if Knockout had won and spotted you? What if they weren't Cybertronians at all and you could have been watching over a gang meet up? You could have been killed!"
You flush in embarrassment. "I'm sorry sir, it won't happen again."
He snorts, but seems content with your answer. "Bee, you keep an eye on her. Prime, let me know if anything comes up, alright?"
"Of course Agent Fowler." Optimus says. When he exits, the Prime turns to you. "I apologize for his upfront approach, but he means well." He explains.
You nod and smile a little. "I know. Thanks Optimus."
He nods and walks off. You sigh and fall back on Bumblebee's hand. "This has been a rough morning." You groan.
Bee chuckles and you smile up at him, glowing blue optics meeting bright E/C eyes.
"Thanks for defending me." He says, lifting you up closer to him. You smile, and wrap your arm around his thumb to hold yourself up.
"Psh." You say, waving a hand in dismissal, "It was nothing. Wasn't your fault anyway. As I said, the world likes to put me in the wrong place at the wrong time. Life's full of surprises, it's just...most of them aren't giant alien robots."
"I feel like there's going to be a lot more 'surprises' from now on with you around." He chuckles, the sound like pure joy itself.
That warm feeling overcomes you again. "He did tell you to keep an eye on me." You laugh, smiling affectionately up at the young scout. Your heart flutters at he curls his hand up a little bit to support you, and keep you closer to him.
"That should be easy enough." He says, tilting his head adorably as he looks at you, some deep emotion swirling in his optics. "After all, it would take a lot more than a Decepticon to keep me away from you."
