Hunting

(Over the course of this mass update, I am holding a Q&A if you wish to participate, it will last an entire month before I post responses, so please take your time. I know this book may or may not make sense but I'm writing it anyway. So, if you are confused about certain events or any bits of information you have gathered over the course of this book, I will gladly answer questions about that. I'll even get the characters to come and answer them for you. Anyways, I hope you enjoy your day and I wish you the best of luck on your future journeys.)

Wyvern let out one last growl before slowly extending his long neck forward and let his darling pet his helm.

He had calmed down much faster than Feary had expected and had only destroyed the Energon processors.

(Yeah, I have a feeling Feary is glad he did that because she probably would have done it herself if she had to reset them again)

Silent Shadow stayed in her chambers, drawing deep artificial intakes as she stared at the door. Closing her optics she imagined a time long before there was even a need for this haven, a time on Cybertron when she had walked beside this very form, his buff and polished armour that glistened in the dim light of the day cycle, his entrancing blue optics, and his thundering steps echoed as a distant memory to her. She had always known the mech had feelings for another one of his kind but she deeply wished he would have considered their ancient engagement as something more than a jealousy tool.

Enough about the unchanging mistakes...

She focused on a different memory, a time in her early youth before the Quintessians had destroyed their home for the Cybertronians to inhabit and after the last Predacon was slaughtered by the Eqiniods and Metacons after the Great Cataclysm.

Flashback
Silent Shadow POV

"Youngling, it is hunting time..."
The deep but soothing voice of her sire gently roused her from her sleep and left her groggy.

"Already?" Her whine was filled with so much unwanted emotion that she received a low growl of warning in response.

Silent Shadow opened her optics lazily before realizing that her sire looked rather impatient before she'd hurriedly jumped down from her perch and gingerly looked up at her teacher.

"Sorry," she whispered,
"Are we leaving before the others?"

"Yes... now no more noise until we're out of range, understood?"

"Of course."

The two Quadruped Guardianos crept out of their assigned den and trotted away from the fields.

They broke into a fast lope (canter) as they expertly crossed the sea of rust towards the Metacon's old and respected territory. She knew from the limited body language of her relatives, short growls from her sire, and snippets of explanation that their prey had migrated out of their territory because of the Great Cataclysm, they were going to be in unfamiliar territory.
She had started to lose speed from the exhaustion of following her sire and was fortunate that they had arrived at their next stalking post (scouting coordinates).
Her sire slowed to a halt along some dense uneven cover near the battlegrounds of the Equiniods and Metacons shared enemy.

"Can I ta-"

"No, hush..." Rainstorm interrupted her mid-sentence. Silent Shadow immediately noticed his optics were narrowed and he was staring at something in the field. It could not have been a Predacon as they had very recently gone extinct, but there was still the possibility of a Metacon to be aware of, especially since they could potentially break past a fully armoured Guardiano's defences when at full strength.

Silent Shadow slowly peered over their hiding spot and looked across the expanse of charred remains of land. Silent Shadow was practically incapable of using her adult thermal trackers in her state of immaturity, but she still tried to find something living that could have caught her sire's optic.

Across the field on the other side near an Energon mine sat a group of Cybertronians. She knew that they would have to kill one of them if they wanted to keep their tracks covered and keep the remaining Cybertronians quiet until they meet their own demise, but she somehow felt an ugly feeling of dread.

"Can't we just talk to them this time father?" She whispered.

"I thought I told you to be quiet my dear one... and no, there is no way we could trust our prey enough to chat with them, let alone let them live."

"Why not?"

"They are ruthless to us, if they knew we lived in these territories they would hunt down our knowledge keepers and eradicate our traditions... we can't trust them," he growled as he kept an optic on the group, "We can't survive without their role. We used to hunt whelps and young Metacons to keep them at bay, but now that they are extinct, this useless species is our primary food source, we can't let them live or grow stronger through evolution."

Silent Shadow thought about all the things she heard. Why did we need to kill them? Why not alliance with them? Why couldn't they trust anyone but themselves? I mean, isn't that how new Guardianos are born, a surprising relationship between a Guardiano and another species, right?

"Hush, they are looking in our direction."

"Guess you were right all along..."

(Yes, she is also very old, forever young like the other Guardianos, but immortality has its price, and it tortures all who experience it. Another thing to add to the list of my most overpowered OC.)
