The Holiday Season After a Lost

The characters used are from Tough Decisions

Normal POV

Tracy knocks on the door at Jack's house. She still is having a tough time celebrating the holidays without her Aunt. Thanksgiving wasn't the same without her famous sweet potato casserole. Now, her Christmas spirit wasn't as strong as it usually is at the begging of December. She didn't have the motivation to help anyone decorate or sing any carols. June opens the door. Tracy looks over her shoulder, seeing Jack holding a box of Christmas decorations.

"Tracy, come in." June says, inviting Tracy inside, "We're just about to start decking the halls. You're welcome to join us," June continues reaching down to take a wreath out of the box to the left of the door.

"No, thank you, June." Tracy says, "I was hoping that Jack could let me borrow Arcee for a bit to take a ride around the block," Tracy continues.

"Sorry, Tracy, I asked her to help us out, so she could learn more about Christmas," Jack says.

"That's fine. I'll take a walk," Tracy says, turning around to leave.

Tracy lets herself out, and June sees a confused look on her son's face when she looks over at him.

"Mom, why is Tracy acting the Grinch?" Jack asks.

"Yes, Matias told us that Tracy's favorite time of the year is what the humans call 'The holiday season.' She didn't look a little sad," Arcee adds as she walks in the room.

"If I'd had to guess that the grief of Mary's death must be hitting Tracy hard, especially now," June says.

Tracy's POV

This Christmas won't be the same without you, Aunt Mary. I should be happy, but my heart hurts too much right now. I wish grief didn't decide to hit me like a dagger today. Everyone is trying to teach the Autobots about Christmas, but I can't help out I"m just not feeling up to it.

I pass by several houses and see the families putting up lights and other decorations. I stop in front of Andrea Sergeant's house. She was one of Aunt Mary's friends. Andrea finished tieing down her inflatable snowman and walk over to me.

"Hi, Tracy, how are you doing today, dear?" Andrea asks.

"Okay, I guess, things seem so different without having Mary here," I reply.

"I know, dear, it's hard for me too. I'm going to miss getting one of Mary's handmade Christmas decorations for my tree this year," Andrea says.

"Yeah, Aunt Mary was a very artistic person," I sigh.

"Aunt Andrea, can we start decorating the tree now," a little kid shouts from the front porch.

"Sorry, Tracy, it was nicing seeing again, dear, I have to go, my niece, along with the rest of the little ones, are eager to trim to the tree," Andrea says.

"It okay. Go ahead," I say.

"Thank you, dear, Merry Christmas," Andrea says.

"Same to you and your family," I say, forcing a smile.

Andrea turn around and head to the house. I walk into town and go into the ice cream shop. When I enter the store is playing Christmas music over the speakers. I hear "Dominick the Christmas donkey." It's one of Aunt Mary's favorite Christmas songs begin to play as I walk up to the counter and order myself a hot chocolate.

"Here you are," the worker says.

"Thank you," I say, handing him the money.

I leave the shop and continue my stroll through town. I'm starting to feel a mixture of anger and more sadness build up inside me as it seemed like everything around me would spark memories of Aunt Mary. I finished drinking my hot chocolate and threw the cup away before I ducked into an alleyway near me.

"Ratchet, could you bridge me somewhere that won't remind me of my Aunt, please?" I ask, calling the Autobot base.

"What do you want him to do that, partner?" Wheeljack asks.

"I don't want to talk about it right now, okay?" I snap as I quickly hang up.

A few seconds later, I hear a ground bridge portal opening up behind me.

Normal POV

Tracy shoves her phone back into her pocket before walking into the portal. When she exits, all Tracy sees in Miko and Raf showing the Autobots how to decorate the base for Christmas. Miko managed to get Knockout's holoform to wear a Santa beard and even dresses up Smokescreen's as Frosty the Snowman.

Why couldn't Miko and Raf show Bee and Bulk at their house's how their families celebrate the holiday? Did they have to show all of Team Prime about Christmas? Tracy thinks.

"Patricia, sweetheart, perfect timing. Do you think that you could put the angel on top of the tree?" Matias asks as he takes the Angel, that Mary made the Christmas the year that Tracy turned five, out of the box in front of him.

The fabric on its silver glitter dress is a tad faded, and the lace covering the wings have started to fray. The string in its hands is beginning to come apart too. All the glitter on the star in the middle has fallen off. None the less just catching a glimpse of it cased Tracy to have a flashback to that very Christmas where her Aunt let her put it onto the tree.

"Hey, partner, are you okay?" Wheeljack asks as he waves his holoform's hand in front of Tracy's face.

"Yes, I'm fine," Tracy says as she quickly comes back to reality, "Not this time, maybe Raf should do it. We do have a family tradition that the younger member puts the topper on, and we do think of everyone here as one big family, don't we?" Tracy continues.

"But, Raf's too short to do it. So, that means I'm up because I'm the next youngest hear," Miko says.

"If we are calculating age my human years, Bumblebee would be next," Ratchet adds.

"Bee could just give Raf a boost so he can reach, Miko," Tracy says.

Bumblebee walks over to the platform. Raf climbs onto Bee's hand. After Bee places his hand next to Matias, he hands the Angel to Raf. When Bee has his hand close enough to the top of the tree, Raf slowly reaches out to put it on. Tracy gasps when she sees Raf's glasses get tangled up on the wings.

Raf's first instinct was to jerk his head back to get himself free. When he does, tears begin to form in Tracy's eyes, watching the angel slip out of Raf's hands and fall to the floor along with Raf's eyewear. Bee quickly puts his other hand out to catch it. The wings come entirely off its back as the angel lands on the Autobot scout's palm. Raf's glasses remarkably stay intact as they land softly next to the broken tree topper.

"Smooth move genus," Miko says.

"It's okay, Miko, I know it was an accident. Thanks for trying to save it, Bee," Tracy says.

"At least now, we can get a better topper for the tree," Smokescreen says.

"Yeah, that one looked super old," Miko adds.

Wheeljack and Bulk see Tracy doing her best to keep her cool as the tears are now welling up in her eyes.

"Smokescreen, Miko, you two have no idea about how much sentimental value that topper has for me, or my uncle," Tracy snaps as she sprints out of the room, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Oh, no," Bulk and Wheeljack say.

Bumblebee places the angel onto the coffee table. Then he puts his other hand down in front of it. Raf walks off and untangles his glasses before placing them back onto his face.

"Did Mary make this topper herself?" Raf asks.

"Yes, Mary loved making things like this. She was very artistic." Matias says.

"Did she teach Tracy?" Wheeljack asks.

"Yes," Matias says.

"Come on, Bee, I need you to take me home. My mom has a lot of the same materials that Mary used. If I bring them back, maybe Tracy could teach me how to fix it," Raf says.

Five minutes later, Tracy comes back into the room. She is confused when Raf walks up to her, carrying a box full of craft supplies.

"Tracy, I know it won't look the same way it did when your Aunt first made it. But do you think that you could teach me how to fix it." Raf says. "That way, you still have it to help remind you of all the happy memories of those Christmases with her," Raf continues.

Tracy was unable to speak as tears of joy stream down her cheeks as she wasn't sure whether she was feeling the Christmas spirit flowing from Raf to her or if it was something else. All she did was give Raf a big hug before nodding. She dries her happy tears and picks up the broken angel. They walk to Ratchet's lab and get to work. Little did Tracy know that the angel would not just help remind her of her Aunt, but now it will bring back memories of the new friends she made since becoming a Power Ranger and a member of Team Prime.
