Takes place after episode S4 EP17 of TFRB

After the energon eater had been taken care of, Blades had convinced Bumblebee to stay a half hour longer so he could tell them about their new mission on Earth, and how it came to "bee" ("Get it? Because Bumblebee?" Blades had said).

Bumblebee smiled a bit.

"You guys know that Megatron went offline, right?"

"What?" Heatwave immediately replied, making the former scout blink.

"You...don't know?"

"No. Optimus has been out of touch lately," Chase informed him. Bumblebee frowned, and looked away in thought.

"Well, then I suppose we start there. It's a long story...maybe," he added after a few seconds.

"Great!" Cody said excitedly.

"My team and I managed to track Megatron down and defeat him, where my voicebox was fixed in the process-"

"How?" Boulder asked. Bumblebee laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his helm.

"Well...uh...that's, ah....another story."

"Tell us that one too!" Cody exclaimed. "Please?"

Bumblebee smiled.

"I'll give you a quick rundown. We started finding relics from Iacon that we had to take into custody so the Decepticons couldn't get them."

"Like how I helped Optimus with that one relic that was turning the entire island to water?" Blades asked, and Bumblebee nodded.

"Four of them were omega keys, a way to restore Cybertron through the omega lock! But, complications arose, and the Decepticons planned to cyber-form Earth, and were nearly successful, if not for Optimus destroying the lock."

"What?" most of the group asked.

"What's Cyber-forming?" Kade asked, looking to his brother, then Boulder, and then to Bee for answers.

"Let's just say...we wouldn't survive," Graham replied nervously. Bumblebee nodded seriously.

"After that, we continued to work on defeating the Decepticons, having to relocate our base in the process. It wasn't until Megatron learned how to make cyber-matter, the thing that would restore Cybertron, were we able to finally be able to defeat him."

"So, how was your voicebox fixed?" Blades asked. Bumblebee looked away briefly, remembering the scene which still occasionally haunted him.

"I...was going over to assist Optimus in fighting Megatron when he shot at me, and I fell into the cyber-matter. If I hadn't...well...I wouldn't be standing here right now."

Everyone was silent for a minute.

"But, the cyber-matter is what fixed my voicebox, and saved my life," Bee eventually said, trying to break the silence.

"What did you do with the cyber matter?" Boulder asked curiously.

"We used it for it's intended purpose. Cybertron has been restored, and has been for, well, maybe a stellar cycle since Optimus gave you your new mission on revealing yourselves to the humans," Bumblebee explained. The bots all exchanged surprised and excited looks with each other, and the Burns family exchanged knowing looks with each other.

"I became a street cop, eventually a lieutenant, and then Optimus gave me a new mission on Earth...where, my team...kind of just...happened. Heh," Bee smiled nervously, and the energon eater growled from the ship.

"I should probably get going. I'm sure Fixit has an extra stasis pod somewhere we can stuff this thing in," he said, jabbing a digit back towards the energon eater's general direction, before going into the ship. He turned around and waved.

"It was great seeing you all again!"

"Same to you too, Bee!"

"Send me a voice message soon!"

"Still diggin' the voice!"

"Fly safely!"

"Avoid meteors!"

The ship took off, leaving the 'bots and the Burnses completely silent for a few minutes, before Heatwave finally spoke.

"Cybertron...is restored?"

"No more flying!" Blades couldn't help but shout. Boulder smiled.

"I can't wait to see it again!"

"I can't wait to race through the Sea of Rust!" Blurr exclaimed. Servo barked happily.

"I admire Bumblebee in his attempt to protect the law. I will continue that effort on Cybertron."

The Burns family, however, didn't seem to share their excitement too much. The family was silent as they continued to exchange glances, and Chief Burns placed a hand on his youngest son's shoulder as Cody looked down.

"Hey, guys, what's wrong?" Blades asked, noticing the melancholy mood.

"We're happy for you guys, really, we are, but..." Dani trailed off, and Kade took over.

"Are you gonna leave Griffin Rock?" he asked bluntly, making the bots stop and look at each other.

"Maybe we should talk about this back at the firehouse," Chief Burns suggested, and the others simply nodded and headed inside, toward the GroundBridge, where they all met in the bunker. The room was silent for a few minutes, no one knowing what to say.

"Look..."

Heatwave stopped, and his shoulder plates sagged. He looked away, not knowing where to start.

"You guys want to go back, we know," Dani said quietly, giving them a small smile.

"From what you've told me, it sounds amazing," Graham added, mostly speaking to Boulder.

"Cybertron is our home planet..." Boulder trailed off.

"And, we could be needed on Cybertron," Blades said hesitantly.

"Wherever there is an emergency, there are rescue bots, ready to serve, save, and protect," Chase said, although not as proudly as he would normally say it.

"But, what about the emergencies here?" Kade asked, narrowing his eyes as he looked at his partner.

"We've been on Earth so long..." Boulder trailed off. Everyone looked at Heatwave, who seemed to be the one to make the final decision.

"We'd be deserting our mission here, remember?" the firebot asked, looking at the others.

"Optimus' original mission, to learn the ways of humans and protect them."

"Not to mention the training academy at the mainland," Boulder added.

"It wouldn't feel right to leave." Chase frowned. The Burns' family smiled, and Cody walked over and hugged Heatwave's ped, making the 'bot smile a little.

"Maybe we could visit?" Blades asked hopefully.

"Definitely visit." Boulder nodded.

"Cybertron may be our home planet, but our home...is Earth." Heatwave smiled.

"Agreed."

"Most definitely."

"And...I suppose the flying isn't so bad with Dani."

"Performing rescues wouldn't be the same without you," Chief Burns said.

"All of you."

I got this idea after realizing that if Bee had come back to visit the 'bots and telling him he had a new team and new mission, I thought that might have raised a few questions. I honestly thought how he would have gotten his voice box back wouldn't been asked besides the simple answer of "it was fixed", but make it more child-friendly than Bee got shot by Megatron and fell in some cyber-matter.

But oh well.

But then I realized that for Bee to "bee" back and talking was because Cybertron was restored, so I wondered what the 'bots would think after realizing their home planet was back.

But then I realized while writing this they wouldn't leave whether they wanted to or not because they had a mission on Earth, with the academy on the mainland and all.

So idk.

But I still enjoyed writing this. :D

And hey-I believe this is my first Rescue Bots oneshot too!
