Olkay, so for some reason, most Mary Sues I saw are from Rescue Bots, which is shit because I've done my research before and last time I checked WE CAN NOT HAVE A FRAGGING 18 YEAR OLD TEEN BECOME A POLICE CHIEF!

THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! A person who is learning how to start their law enforcement career by taking notes from Chief, sure. But police chief? That sounds too Mary Sueish, or perfect. And that you should avoid. The most you can do as a tip is to research about the job or activity, not just labeling your OC "I'm Awesome and Perfect!"

Now LE VOCAB OF THE STAGE!

Mary Sue: A perfect female character/OC who can not be beaten, can make men/mechs fall in love with her quickly, and has every superpower you can think of (ex: Barbie and Winx Club)

Marty Stu/Gary Stu: Male version of Mary Sue (ex: Ken)

So now after I finished talking about those freaking annoying characters, let's discuss WHY in Transformers Fandom and other Fandoms they are hated.

ABNORMAL FEATURES

In Names Are Important, I talked about how humans can NOT have a Cybertronian name. Why?

1) Annoying

2) Ridiculous

3) Not Possible

4) Real reason, that's a Mary Sue trait

I mean, what should I say? It reveals too much, and it will be too boring. A story where the main human OC is Echo, BAM! She's probably Soundwave's daughter or Megatron's. Other traits include gorgeousness and that crap like straight As, all superpowers, ect. Just shit.

Like, where is the specialty? Just search up baby names, unless the names were Destiny and Jade. Then that's understandable.

SUPERPOWERS AND TRAITS

This is the hole. The slagging hole where most writers fall in. I admit it, I fell in it when I created my 2nd Transformers OC, whom I got rid of now.

Now guys, lets view the X-Men. They are mutants with superpowers and each have at least 2-4 powers, depending how related they are.

So before anyone pulls the 'Jean Grey is a Mary Sue' card, what happened to her? She lost control of it and was stabbed to death.

For every superpower, there needs to be a reaction. Like somebody with earth elemental powers will get sea/air sick if they are not on the ground for too long. Telepathic people tend to have a hard time to moderate the amount of people they want to block.

If your OC has a superpower, they CAN NOT have: Telekinesis, Telepathy, Control Over 4 Elements, Super Strength, Invulnerability all at once!... AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! THAT'S TOO MUCH TOO HANDLE! TTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOIOOMMMMMMMMUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

TYPES OF FLAWS

*fake cough* Excuse me, I was having a hysterical fit.

Here's a tip: Before you start on your OC, start with their flaws. Are they stubborn? Are they fragile? Are they smart at inventing, but horrible at fighting?

Now *drags in OC MoonStrider* let's talk about the actual "Avoiding Perfectness"

MS: (quiet voice) Nonononononono!

There are three types of flaws: Physical Flaws, Intelligence/Ability Flaws, and Personality Flaws.

*drags her back* Let's start with her

>>PHYSICAL FLAWS

This type includes looks, their body frame, their sensory levels, ect.

1) Her short height and fragile armor is not useful for bot and bot fighting.

>>>That means that while this armor increases her ability with spying, reflexes, and scouting, they can not contribute to the real fighting.

MS: But it helps me with stealth and speed

Me: Still, useless for kicking and fighting

MS: (looks away)

2) She is near sighted, hence wearing a visor

>>>While the visor helps covering up the obstacle, there is a good chance she may lose it. And that's bad considering she can't see as far as 5 ft.

3) Armor is not good for Arctic expeditions

>>>Freezes faster then an average Cybertronian

4) Small voice

>>>Yes, her average voice is a whisper, while her yelling is 'normal talking'

So for every strength there is always a flaw that follows it. Light armor equals speed but no protection.

>>ABILITIES/SKILLS

Next, it's abilities/skills. Now, Moon here has a decent amount of sniper wickedness and scouting, but she may not be able to handle a sword. Or Motor from RID is a horrible shooter. Or Ratchet from TFP has wicked medical skills but when it comes to fighting he can do the basic defending.

There can't be a Cybertronian who can do everything. They need to have one skill they're not good at. If writing a story, try to confront that weakness. Whether that is horrible shooting skills, or bad memorization, or maybe they have side effects like a beast side or system failure.

>>PERSONALITY

Here are some suggestions on getting good personalities without getting them too all good no flaw.

1) For every strength, create a flaw.
2) Base your OC on your friends/relatives personalities or maybe even your favorite character from another fandom!
3) Take personality test as your OC, and find out the overall score
4) Look up the Horoscope Signs and base the sign's traits on your OC. The bad and good

Now... I HOPE Y'ALL UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF AVOIDING A MARY SUE, OR I WILL TURN YOU INTO SCRAP MUSH!

After this lesson (which is part 1) I hope you excuse me if this chapter is rushed, I am not used to ranting and the fact that Mary Sue is rather a really broad issue that needs at least a book on its own.
