We shouldn't talk, 13
I close my computer and lay down.
Jason and his pack already suspect that I am something. What if they find out that I might be a Vini. Will I end up like the others?
Vini is such an weird name, who made that up?
"Cira come on, I will take you to your dance school." I hear my mother say from the living room.
She is home already? I pick up my phone to see the time, It is half-past seven. I pack my things and hop inside. Putting my laptop on the table and slide my books in my bag. I put on my coat and walk to the living room with a head full of thoughts. Before we leave the house, Agus calls me.
"Ci, can I use your laptop, I have to send an email to my boss."
"Sure, it's on the table," I say.
It is quiet in the car. My mother turned on the radio and we listen to the news. Well, I don't really listen. I'm thinking about what I just read.
Ok, what if I'm a Vini. The second woman lived a normal life until she was 40. So that proves it is possible. But it's not the same. I already know that I might be a Vini, I already know werewolves exist. If someone finds out I will probably be murdered as well.
I lean my head against the window.
"Cira, you'll be fine. It isn't your fault." She gives me a smile.
I nod and look out the window again. Oh yeah, there are more things to feel bad about. I get out of the car with a lump in my thought. I walk to the door and then standstill.
Okay, Cira, you can do it. I open the door.
"BOEE!" Michael jumps in front of me causing me to almost fall back. Everyone laughs, Michael too than helps me steady myself. When he sees the crutches, the smile disappears from his face. He stepped aside and the same happens with the rest of the group.
"Cira, what's happened, are you okay?" Pablo asks. I walk towards them but can't look them in the eyes.
"I fell at the P.E, my ankle ligament is torn."
"You can't dance," Micheal states, more to himself than to us.
Vincent now looks at me. "How long before it is healed?"
"About 6 weeks," I say and look at the floor.
Dennis rubs his face with his hand. "The competition, you can't participate."
"Mi dios," Tabora says when she walks to the bench to sit down.
The door opens again as Jo comes in with his headphones on. Without looking up he walks to the music installation. Everyone has become quiet. This will be the worst part, Jo. When he realizes that it is suddenly so quiet, he looks at us. When he sees me, his facial expression does not change. He looks at us and just continues what he was doing.
''Come on, stand in your position.'' Everyone looks at each other and walks to their places.
"Tell your parents that you will be home later today, and Tabora you will be here tomorrow too because you are taking over the duo from Cira. I expect full commitment from you because we have a lot to do." He turns on the music and starts warming up.
He doesn't even acknowledge me sitting here.
I sit on the side, watching them and trying to ignore my eyes filling with tears.
When I get home I sit in my window seat and stare out my window. The light of the moon illuminates my room.
The only person I can talk about magical creatures with and who really knows about it is Jason. He is also the only one I shouldn't talk to.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I enter the school my head is empty. I don't have to worry about anything. My team doesn't need me anymore and I won't be talking to Jason anymore. After yesterday I think we are back to the non-talking time.
The girls from my class are in the hall, I walk over to them and get involved in the conversation.
The day goes pretty fast. The hour before the lunch break I usually have class in the classroom next to Jason's. We walk to the classroom but I don't see him standing among his classmates. Okay, that makes it easier to ignore him.
During class, I sit next to Diaro, which was the only place left. Jade is sitting next to Kendall and she seems to be having a good time. Diaro and I don't really talk much. He pays close attention to the lesson and takes notes. I take a pen and fool around in my notebook. When the bell rings I clean up my notebook and see what I have drawn, a wolf. I tear the page out and throw it away.
Jade and I walk to the canteen and see the rest of our friends. We sit down in the auditorium again. I look upstairs to see Jason, but he is not there. The rest of his friends are but he isn't. Then it hit me. He didn't come to school at all, but why? I'm thinking about our conversation yesterday. I said something like leave me alone and go back to your forest. He wouldn't have listened to me, would he? I should be happy. Why don't I feel happy?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't do much during the weekend. Saturday I had asked Jade to come over, but she couldn't. Too bad because I could use the distraction. On Sunday we started cleaning our garden, removing weeds. The thought that I may not be a normal person and that I am the reason that Jason is not coming to school does not leave me alone. I go to bed early and hope that the night passes quickly. If he's not at school tomorrow, he probably left for good. And I don't know how I feel about that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning I walk to school with music in my ears. Sometimes I try to take a step with my left foot and it works. When I arrive at school it is not very crowded yet.
All the way on the other side of the hall I see my friends standing. Indira waves when she sees me.
I see a group of boys walking down the stairs. Dimelo and Karim walk in front. Behind them, is a boy with perfect skin and green-brown eyes which are already focused on me.
I turn around and walk to my friends.
pff okay, he is still here.
"Hey, Cira, wait." I pretend I didn't hear him and walk on.
"You really aren't faster than me, especially with your crutches," he says, laughing.
I turn around to face him. He jogs over to me. He is wearing white sneakers, black jeans with holes, a black short-sleeved shirt, and his slightly curled hair is hidden under a black cap.
I look at him with my serious face on. When he sees my face he stops laughing.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have got mad at you. You didn't ask for this either. I...'
"Yeah, it's okay," I answer and want to walk on.
He looks at me confused.
"You are still angry?" He asks, well its more a statement. He lifts his arms to take his cap off and put it on backward. His arms are muscled, not too much, but just right. The cap looks good on him. My eyes travel back at his face. His eyes are still on me and waiting for a response. When I take too long to answer he raises an eyebrow at me.
Jesus Cira, what are you doing? Just answer him.
"No, oh, and thank you for healing me, it helped. I'll just say it before you disappear again."
What the hell, why would I say that. It sounds like I care if he is here or not, and I don't, I don't care.
"Uhm ... no problem," he says confused and smiles. I smile briefly and look away.
"I left be ..." he wants to continue.
"Jason, we shouldn't talk to each other. I think that's better for both of us." I try to sound friendly but also sure. I smile briefly and then walk on. He doesn't agree with me but he doesn't stop me eighter. He probably knows that it is best.
I walk towards my friends.
"Hay," I'm going to stand between Sylvana and Indira. Of course, they were watching me.
Danielle looks annoyed at me. "What was that? look at him he is fucking hot, if a boy like that wanted to talk to me, I really wouldn't run away. "
I look back at him, he is still on in the same place and his friend is walking toward him.
"He may be...good looking, but that doesn't mean I have to talk to him."
He looks at the ground and adjusts his cap, I see a smirk appear on his face during the first part of my sentence.
Great, he heard me.
