He is way out of your league, 17

(Haii sorry for letting you wait so long. I had exams and I went on a trip because of my birthday. I'm on summer break now so I will post more frequently. I hope you enjoy this chapter. It's one of my favorites.)

"You said you didn't find anything," I say and raise an eyebrow at him.

"Yes ... nothing new." He shrugs.

Nothing new? How long has he known about Vini's? How much does he know?

''And you weren't going to tell me?''

''Nope'' he says briefly again.

What? He found out what I'm and wasn't going to tell me.

''Nope?''

He stays quiet, not planning on explaining himself.

''Why not?'' I don't try to hide the annoyance in my voice.

''Because you didn't have to know.''

I stop walking now. He can't be serious. If anyone should know what I am it's me.

''Are you serious?''

He stops walking too and turns to face me. He doesn't seem affected by my annoyance.

''Yes I am. Your life won't be the same other this, a lot will change. Maybe not right now, but in a year or 10 years, I don't know.'' The irritation in his voice is there at the last part but he recovers himself fast. ''The more people know the more dangerous it will be for you. So yeah it was the best for the fewer people to know, including you.''

He is right, my life will change and he tried to prevent that from happening, I don't know why he would do that, but I should be thankful. I stare at him letting it sink in than I smile briefly and he smiles back.

"Let's talk about something else, you are mine the whole break anyways." He says with a playful smile and pushes the door open, he lets me walk first and then walks next to me again.

"Yes ok."

Why did he seem so affected by this? Why would he be concerned about my safety? He was sent here to find out what I am but he already knows. What is the point of him staying? Is me being a Vini affecting him in another way?

It is always very quiet near my locker. I think most empty lockers are listed here.

''What did you do this weekend?'' He leans against the locker next to mine.

I answer while taking the keys out of my bag and opening my lock.

"I was supposed to meet my friends on Saturday, but it didn't happen. I would be home alone with my brother that day anyway, so I wouldn't do much, watching TV and doing homework. On Sunday my mother, my sister, and I cleaned up the backyard." He looks at what I'm doing. I remove the crutch to hang my bag on my locker door and change my books.

"What about you?" What do wolves do on weekends? I smile at myself for this question.

"Not much Saturday, just homework, and I helped my dad with some problems. Sunday I hang out with my brothers." He explains and turns so he is facing me.

I look at my schedule to see which books I need.

"You have brothers?" I had never really thought about his family. Would his pack be the same as his family?

"No, but I see my pack boys as brothers. The children of those men from my father's old pack also become wolves, well most of them. We are always together so we see each other as family." He explains. I close my locker and stand opposite him against the other row of lockers.

"Is there a certain age that you turn...change?"

"No, some people change when they are 11 others when they are 18. I think it has to do with puberty."

There are so many things I want to know. Are all the stories real?

"Do you have control over what you do when you are a wolf?" Shit, I asked that question without even thinking about it. Do I want to know?

"Well uhm ..." he is interrupted by the bell. Everyone starts walking down the aisle where we stand.

"What time are you done?" We walk away from the lockers.

"In two hours," I answer.

"Me too, I'll see you after school," he says and walks away.

"Ohw, okay" I smile and walk to my class. So many emotions pass through me. I am curious and afraid of what awaits me, but I still can't get the smile off my face.

Jade is not there yet, I sit down at our usual place. The rest of my classmates walk in slowly. Jade walks in with Kendall. She smiles fat him, tugs her hair behind her ears while grating him, and then sits beside me.

"How was your lunch break?" She asks when the class is quiet again.

"Good'' I smile." I notice that she isn't paying attention to me. She glances past me. I follow her gaze to see what she's looking at. Then I turn back to Jade and laugh.

"What?" She asks when she notices my silence, and looks innocent.

"Oh nothing," Now she looks curious. "Kendall, he's pretty handsome." I tease her. She starts blushing.

Ha, I knew it.

"Does Jade like Kendall?" I say and can't help the huge grin on my face.

"Omg no Cira," she says as if I'm accusing her of something bad.

"Ha Jade admit it, your face is completely red." She covers her face with her hands in a very on Jade-like way. I make a lot of effort not to burst out in laughter. When she looks at my face she starts laughing.

"Okay, he may be nice ... and handsome ... and smart, but I don't like him." She tries to convince me, but she fails.

"Jade, you hear what you said, right?"

Unwillingly she answers "Okay Cira maybe I like him a little bit." She looks at him again defeated.

"Omg, that's so cute!" I say just a little too loud. I stopped laughing again when I realized half of my class was looking at me.

"Does he like you too?" I whisper now.

"Uhm I don't know, he gives many compliments and is very sweet." She says and turns a lock of hair around her pencil.

"Uhm yes, he so does." How can she not realize that? She tells me what they were talking about.

When the bell rings we walk to the next lesson, art. At least that is an hour I like. At art class, we are again divided into groups. I'm with Jade, Mike, and Diaro, again Diaro. We have to make a drawing. Every one a different side, so if we stick it together, it's a big drawing.

I draw clouds and the sky.

I didn't realize it before but when I look up I see Diaro staring at me. When he notices me looking back he starts talking.

"That's really nice," he says, pointing to my drawing.

"Thank you" I look at his. Maybe I can compliment him in return. He has drawn two blue squares next to each other with triangles on them. Those are probably the houses.

"Uhm ... nice color," I say. He smiles briefly and looks away again.

10 minutes before the bell rings we are called into the classroom again."You guys can leave earlier, yeayyy! I have to get something in the teachers' room and I want to get my stuff before it gets crowded and people start talking to me because I just want to go home." The teacher says and leaves the room.

My classmates laugh while leaving the classroom. We walk to our lockers, I take my coat from my locker but don't put it on because it's nice weather. I walk outside with Jade.

"See you tomorrow," she says before she goes around the corner.

"Bye," I walk in the direction of the stones where we had met last time. We didn't agree on a place so I just sit here. I close my eyes and enjoy the sun. It is now very quiet in the schoolyard because everyone still has 5 minutes of class.

After a while, I hear footsteps approaching me. I open my eyes and see Ashley and Mila walking my way. I don't hang out with them, but I know them because we have some classes together. Ashley is the type of girl who enjoys attention. She always spreads gossip, she is very cheeky, and starts to scold everyone when things don't go her way. She has a different boyfriend every month and dresses ... how do I say that, inappropriate. Mila is her best friend. She is kind of her lapdog. She was a very nice shy girl when she came here. Since she has been friends with Ashley, she has changed her clothing style and behavior.

"Hey Cira," Mila says when they are almost in front of me. I put my hand in front of the sun so that I can see their faces.

''Hi," I respond and smile briefly.

"I want to talk to you about Jason." Say, Ashley. Sure, why else would they want to talk to me?

"Okay, tell me"

"I will get straight to the point, I like him and he likes me too of course. But because you have been chasing after him all the time, which looks really desperate, he hasn't had a chance to see me, so... stay away from him." I don't hear half of what she says because of that huge amount of gum she is chewing while talking. I rais an eyebrow at her.

"You've never had a boyfriend before, so don't think you can get the hottest guy in the school, he is way out of your league." She smiles and looks as if this should hurt my feelings. I'd rather never have had a boyfriend than have a different one every month and have people talking about me behind my back.

"Uhm I'm not chasing him," I said back.

Ashley looks even more irritated "Uhm listen I don't care if ..."

"Ashley, right?" Ashley and Mila turn around and see Jason standing with his hands in his pockets. Ashley immediately shakes up her hair with her long fake nails.

"Thanks but I'm not interested,'' he says with a  fake smile on his lips.

I press my lips to a tin line, suppressing my smile while I watch Ashley her face.

''And it's true, she's not chasing me. It would be the other way around." He shrugs and looks at her again. He takes a step forward so he is standing next to me. Ready to walk away with me but turns around to add something.

"And, having many boyfriends isn't something to brag about, I would rather have 1 person for life than many temporary ones. There are other reasons why you have had so many, but let's not talk about that." He nods and then looks at me.

Ashley's eyes go wide. Her chewing gum almost falls out of her mouth.

"Shall we go?"  he asks me.

I nod and we walk out of the schoolyard. If only I could record Ashley's response, that would be amazing.

When we are out of sight of Ashley and Mila, I laugh. "Wow, did you see Ashley's face?"

Jason looks at me for a few seconds and then smiles. He didn't find it as funny as I did.

"I have to tell you something about what happened when I healed your ankle." He says, serious again.

"Okay, tell me" I watch him.

"Thursday when I healed your ankle, I felt weird. I felt what you felt but not very strong. I noticed that you were curious, nervous and later scared ... "Now he looks at me to read my face but my face is expressionless.

"I also saw what you saw, my face and how I changed. I heard what you thought, that you were afraid someone saw me." We walk around the corner, on the sidewalk next to the cycle path. So he was in my head, what else did he see?

"So you can be in my head when you do the healing thing?"

"Yes, but that should not be possible. I couldn't stop, I had no control over what I did. When I saw that I was changing, I wanted to stop, but I wasn't in control of my body. "

"How is it possible that when I touched  you, you came back."

''I do not know either. I think it's because it's a circle then. When you touched my hands again I popped back in my own head." We walk through the park, a few blocks behind the school. It is very quiet now.

"Jason, I was serious when I said it would be better if we didn't talk to each other. You are not allowed to talk to me. Now that we think we know what I am, it is even more dangerous." I look at him curiously about his reaction, whether he will admit that I am right.

"My family doesn't have to know it." He says it in such a tone that you notice that this is the end of the conversation.

I hope they don't see me as a danger. I would never expose them to the human world.

Jason looks at my foot.

"You have to keep walking with your crutches for at least 2 weeks. It would be a bit suspicious if you have a tear in your ankle ligament and you can walk again within a week. If you wait 2 weeks, people will just think it was not as bad as the doctor thought." We walk on slowly. I automatically walk towards my house. The weather is nice and we hear the birds chirping. Jason looks ahead, with a head full of thoughts. He walks with his hands on the straps of his bag at my pace. I look back at him. Just to look at him. His brown curled hair sits nicely to the back, and his skin shines a bit through the sun shining on it.

"Do you find it annoying when I ask questions?" I ask.

"No," he keeps looking ahead. "I still had to answer your previous question," now I look at him.

"Yes, we have control over what we do, but we let our wolf instinct lead us.  We are wilder, we surrender to our senses."

This raises new questions in me. Now that I have the opportunity to ask questions, I will start at the beginning.

"Why can't you follow biology class?"

He smiles. "You remember that? I told you that a while ago.''

''Yeah,'' I remember everything you say to me.

''Well there are several reasons. My DNA is different from a normal person, so suppose we would examine blood or hair, they would find that I am not a normal person. If we have to examine things with the microscope it can go wrong. My eyes are much stronger than those of the others. I will see things that shouldn't be possible to see. The last reason is that I just don't like biology. People look for an explanation for everything, but there isn't a logical explanation for everything."

"Ohw" I could have known that.

"How do you like it here at school so far?"

"It's harder than I expected it to be. I intended to attract as little attention as possible, and maybe make 1 or 2 friends, but a large group of boys immediately approached me. Every time we switch classes and during breaks I hear and see all those students watching and whispering. There are a lot of students in this school. I didn't expect them to notice me."

So sad for him, that he is so handsome. I smile at my thoughts.

''What?'' he looked at me when I didn't respond and saw the smile on my face.

"It's not like that with everyone, not everyone stands out so much."He is not a vampire, he can look in a mirror.  We are at the pedestrian crossing, it is quiet and there are no cars so we cross.

"Ohw," he says and thinks.

"You know why, right? You have "super hearing''.'' I say laughing.

"Yes, but I'm not eavesdropping all the time," he looks a little offended by my remark.  He did eavesdrop on me and Danielle that one time.

"James and Dimelo love all the attention." He says and rolls his eyes.

"Is James that boy who almost bumped into me this afternoon?''

"Yes, that's James."

So the nice boy's name is James.

We continue in silence, past a small lake. The sun is shining on our faces. At the end of the path, a group of teenagers is walking towards us. They have a pretty big dog with them, luckily he is on the leash, otherwise, I would have turned back and taken another road home. That dog is very wild, he pulls on the band all the time and jumps up against his owner. Without me noticing, I am moving to the right of the path as far away from the dog. When Jason realizes that, he looks at me questioningly. Then he sees me looking at the dog.

"Are you afraid of dogs? He seems surprised. It sounds more like an accusation than a question.

"Yes!" I say and nod sharply.

''How so? Most of them don't hurt you." He now also watches the dog.

"Uhu, the owners always say that, but people get bitten by dogs." I almost walk on the grass now. He gets a smile on his face.

"He just wants to play, it's a pup."

I keep my eyes on the dog making sure it stays on his side of the path.

'' A pup? It's huge.'' When we passed them I hear him laugh softly.

"You're afraid of me too?" I'm looking at him now, seeing the amused look on his face. Is that a serious question? I was afraid of him from the start, as a person, and as a wolf. After today it has decreased but still.

Because of my reaction, his facial expression changes, as if he is sorry he asked.

"If you jump and run towards me as that dog did, then yes," I say hoping to improve the vibe.

He is smiling, ''I will remember that.''

It's not that I will ever see him in his wolf form again.I have more questions. I have doubts about the following question. It is also possible that he does not want to answer some questions.

''What is it?''

"I have a question but I don't know if you want to answer it. I don't know if I want to know." I say hesitantly.

"Ohw" he is silent for a moment. "If I don't want to answer or think you don't want to know, I won't say anything." He smiles briefly but is still thinking.

"Okay, what do you eat, when you're not human, at the full moon?" I ask softly, but he heard it.  He is quiet and looking ahead. Okay, this silence can't mean anything good.

"I don't think you want to know."
