Blood, 39
(A/N this chapter has a dark twist, If you don't wanna read it I will give a short summary at the end of the chapter telling what happens.)
On the way to the forest, we all had a picture of Anaya on our phones and asked the people we past if they had seen her, but that wasn't useful. When we arrive at the edge of the forest we standstill.
I think we all know what awaits us in the forest. How big is the change she has been in this forrest all night and is still there at the same spot just sitting? We look at each other. Jade is the first to take a step forward.''Come on. The phone was not far from here." she says and head into the forest.
"Anaya!" Shouts Sylvana. We walk over the branches in the mud. It started raining yesterday after I came home. The weather is not really nice today either. Fortunately it is not raining but it is cloudy. The sun was shining in the morning bit It won't be long before it will be raining because the clouds are dark grey, typical Dutch weather.
We all walk a little apart from each other and look around us.
"Anaya!"
"Anayaaa!''
It goes on like this for 20 minutes. Daniëlle keeps walking at Indira's side, Sylvana right from them, Jade in front of them I left from them.
"Bzzz ..." All their faces turn towards me. I take my phone from my bag and see that Diaro has sent a message. It is a link so that we can trace her phone as a sort of navigation.
"Diaro has sent a message with the link to trace her phone," I say and open the link.
It says that we still have to walk about 450 meters.
"450 meters, that direction." We start walking in the direction of the red blinking dot on my screen.
The wind starts blowing harder now, making me too get goosebumps. If she has been out her the whole night she would be so cold. Maybe she was lost and waited until it got light again before walking back home, but she got lost and lost her phone. Maybe she is hurt and that's why she hasn't come home, but why not answer your phone?
"Anaya!" Shouts Sylvana again.
I try to walk in the right direction but it is hard because everything around us looks the same, just woods. She must be here somewhere.
What would a 14-year-old girl do alone in the woods all day? Why would she stay in the same place for so long?
"200 meters," I keep walking straight line now that i notice where getting closer.
It starts to blow harder, so that the sound of our screams would not get far. I look at Indira, who has been silent since we enter the forest. She looks around, with her hand in fists and wet eyes. I hope Anaya will be fine.
''100 meter.'' The dot get bigger now. She should be able to hear our shout by now. I feel how my breath speeds up and how my body get warm
"We should see her by now right?" Daniëlle asks her voice shakes a little.
"Yes, but there are so many trees," Jade answered her.
"Anaya!" Shouts Indira desperation dripping off her voice. She should have heard that.
I keep my eyes on the screen.
20... 15... .10... 5 meters.
"She should be here." Jade walks over to me and watches my phone. The rest stops and looks around.
Maybe she is on the ground somewhere, she has fallen.
"Anaya! Where are you now? "Indira says softly. We all walk around the place but there is no one around.
To my right, I hear a cracking sound.
Daniëlle looks down, "Girls" she picks something up from the ground. Indira quickly walks over to her.
"That's Anaya her phone, she has been here somewhere." She looks around with the phone in her hand.
We can see what time she lost her phone. If it wasn't that long ago, she can't be far. There is hope, maybe this will end fine.
"Can I have it for a moment?" I reach for the phone. Absently without looking at me, she hands me the phone.
"Do you know her password?"
"2468" she says.
I test the code, and soon I am in its call history. There are countless missed calls from her family and friends. For the latter, she called her mother at 5 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday. I just look through her messages. The last message sent was at 11:56 PM. She sent a report on the fight to her best friend. For the rest, there is nothing to be found. Did she lose her phone back then?
"The last message sent is around midnight." They all look at me. Then they look at Indira staring at the ground.
"It's possible she dropped her phone and couldn't find it afterward. It was of course dark. "Jade tries to stay positive.
"Yes, but where is she now? She won't be walking through the forest all this time." You hear Indira has a lump in her throat. I give her the phone again.
"Yes, it was dark last night. This forest is huge nobody would know its way out. She must be waiting here somewhere for someone to find her." Danielle says. It's hard to stay positive but we need to be night now till be know for sure what happened.
Jade nods and continues walking. "So let's go search."
We walk in silence through the forest. We all call her name in time. We have been walking through this forest for almost an hour now.
Where can she be? Has she been abducted? She should have heard us a long time ago. Is she hurt here somewhere? Is she hiding somewhere with a friend, playing an annoying teenagers? No, Anaya is not like that, or maybe she is.
The weather is getting worse. The winds start blowing harder, making it divicult to walk. I stop for a moment to take my vest out of my bag. I put my bag down on the ground, when i open it there is now vest in there, I left it in my locker. When I want to pick up my bag again, I see a red drop on the leaves on the ground. A foot further there are more. I follow the trail with my eyes, while the others keep searching around. The drops get closer to each other and there more and more the further I follow the trail
I close my eyes for a second and feel my heartbeat harder and faster against my chest. Please don't let this be blood. Please if it is let it be a deer or a pig or I don't know what animal.
Please, please, please.
I open my eyes again but wished I didn't when I see where it leads me too.
It feels like the air around me is getting colder. The only thing I hear is my own hard banging faster and faster. Somewhere far away I hear someone say my name but the only thing I can do is stare ahead of me. My breath is stuck in the back of my throat making it hard to breathe.
Indira
I snap back to reality, turn around to stop Indira for coming here, but I'm too late.
A cry full of pain echoes through the forest. I look back and see Indira fall to her knees and scream. Sylvana directly kneels next to her, with a terrified expression on her face. Daniëlle looks at Indira with tears in her eyes, her hands start shaking.
Jade walks closer, closer to the lifeless mutilated body of a 14-year-old girl. My eyes stay focused on Jade I can't look at Anaya. Jade kneels and grabs her wrist. After a few seconds she looks at me and shakes her head.
It feels like everything around me starts spinning. My body feels numb, I can't hear the painful ongoing screams of Indira anymore. I feel like I'm not really here and just watch everything happen.
I look away and pick up my phone. Police, I have to call the police. I turn around and walk a little further away from the body.
"Police station natural forest, what is your emergency?" Says a friendly voice on the other side of the line. I try to keep myself standing and hear what she says but the only thing is the beating of my own heart.
"Hello, is everything ok?" The woman says again.
"Anaya Ramlal is dead, we found her."
(A/N They found Anaya in the forest but she is murdered)
