9- Powers Brought To Light

-Rainbow Dash POV-
-One month later

I was putting my bedpost together in my room. I hoped that I could find a way to get wood polish so I won't get splinters on this wood. I could make it mostly smooth, but there was still a risk. I had to make a saw, axe, and chisel in order to get the basic shape of the planks and I still need to find a way to sand it better then what I can do with a knife.

I found a way to make Gronckle Iron thin enough to be flexible and had a spring system to put on once the wood frame was done. I was on the fourth attempt at the bed, but this time seems to be coming together nicely.

"RAINBOW!!!"

I jumped getting a sliver on the wood. I hissed before looking at the grounded dragon. "Toothless! What the hay!"

"I called your name at least 20 times!"

I rolled my eyes knowing he was exaggerating. "Yeah. Right. What did you need?"

"Can we go down? I want to get some fish from the ocean for the two of us."

I sighed, knowing there was no stopping him from making me eat fish. At least he stopped trying to convince me to eat it raw. "Alright. Let's go. Just let me take care of this sliver."

I got up, took the wood out, wrapped it up in a piece of one of my shirts I turned into reusable bandages. I grabbed my notebook and a pencil, put my knife in it's hip shith then hopped on Toothless.

We flew down and Toothless bounded towards the beach as soon as I got off. I chuckled as he joined his friends in a hunt.

I then climbed a nearby mango tree sitting on it's high branches. I opened the sketchbook and began to draw randomly. I would do drawings as my hand took me then once a picture started to form, I'd go with it. I was just finishing a cloud with a bunch of Terrors hiding it when the whole group of dragons came to me and called me down.

I climbed down with ease thanks to the amount of training I've been doing. "What's up guys?"

Toothless stepped up looking nervous. "So, Rainbow. We've been talking and we feel like it's time you know." I tilted my head curious as to what he was saying. "You're part of a prophecy. One that can save all dragon and scaleless kind." I raised my eyebrow skeptical till he continued, "You're the dragon princess."

I sighed. "Is that where that nickname you all gave me came from? Some prophecy?"

"Not just any prophecy, but very special prophecy." Hookfang told me. "It said that a strong female that looks like the dragons territory of the sky will be born in a scaleless form, with the soul of the dragon. She will be the only scaleless to fully understand our tongue, and will be known among dragons as the Dragon Princess."

Stormfly took over, "Once unlocked, she will have a defining trait from every dragon for her own use. The only dragon she will have more than one of is the dragon she first befriended."

"A Night Fury," I said establishing that Toothless was my first dragon friend. "But, how can I be her? Yeah I'm stronger than most girls and can understand you guys, but I can't be a princess!"

"Their really is only one way to know for sure." Toothless told me. "We need to go to the BewilderBeast. The King of all Dragons. We heard his cry and must answer. Only he can know for sure and activate your dragon side."

I stood in deep thought at what they told me. It would make sense that I'm this character. And there really is only one way to know for sure. "You want to bring me to the dragon king?" They nodded. "Why couldn't I hear his call?"

"Your dragon side has not been activated." Stormfly explained. "Once it is, you'll remain human, but with many dragon aspects."

After considering, I decided. "Well, are we going to see him or not?"

With a high spirit, I climbed on Toothless and we went to meet the Bewilderbeast.

-Time Skip-

After an hour of flying, I looked up to see a giant hunk of ice. It was warm out, but the ice was there.

I shook off my fear as we flew in. Some outside force seemed to guide the dragons through the maze of rocks and ice. I shivered at the cold wind. Suddenly, a light shone and the dragons landed. I adjusted to the light then beheld a wondrous sight.

Dragons were everywhere. A hundred species coexisting together in their respective family caves. It was beautiful.

However, the most extraordinary sight was in the center. A white dragon a big as a large mountain stood proud. The nest seemed to revolve around him in a grand matter.

The huge white dragon spoke with a large commanding voice. "Come forth new dragons. Show me your scaleless friend."

Toothless nudged me toward the dragon and I followed suit. I was as near as I could be without falling down into whatever depths the dragon stood. It was now that I realised that this was the King. The Bewilderbeast.

I immediately fell on my knees in a bow of respect. "Rise scaleless. You are our princess! I am far below you." I looked up and realised the king was bowing to me! I looked around and all other dragons besides the ones that came with me were bowing in the best way their bodies would allow. I was in awe. I was as good as dead in most people from my home's eyes. Now, a whole nest of dragons was bowing in my presence. It was overwhelming.

"Please. Don't bow," I told them causing them to take their original positioning. "I don't deserve your praise." Living out of the city gave me a reality check. Everything I did that earned me praise wouldn't be helpful in the long run. I never deserved any of it.

"Rainbow," Toothless spoke from behind me. "You told me yourself multiple times that you felt different. Like you had a higher purpose."

"Maybe your dream thing told you something?" Hookfang suggested.

That reminded me of some dreams I had as a kid. I could interpret any dream but my own, but now I see how these might be true.

"I dreamed that in our class one day

The plants gave me a sign

All the other potted plants,

All turned and bowed to mine

I dreamed I saw some million stars

The sun the moon and sky

Bowing down before my star

And now I realise why!"

With the new realization, I turned to the king. "What do I need to do?"

The king came closer to me then spoke. "First, your dragon soal must be brought to its full potential." He bit his foreleg and a pearlescent purple liquid came front it dripping in front of me. I looked down and realized that there was a basin below me he was filling his blood with.

I suddenly was pushed towards the edge and I began to lose my balance. I looked back and saw Toothless looking at me with an apologetic expression.

I fell into the blood of the Bewilderbeast being completely covered by it. I swam back up but hit something. After a bit of trying to find my way up, I realised, it was iced over.

I tried desperately to break the ice but just pushed myself down deeper. When I tried swimming up, it proved futile as I couldn't move a solid surface swimming.

In a final desperate attempt, I punched the ice and I felt energy leave my hand and a hole was in the ice above me allowing me to breathe again.

"What was that about!" I yelled at no dragon in particular as I felt some heat on my shoulders spreading to the rest of me.

"Rainbow! You're of fire!" Toothless shouted.

I looked at myself and realised he was right. I quickly dunked under to extinguish myself before resurfacing and climbing out of the BewilderBeast blood pool. "Ok. What was all that about? I asked looking at the so called King of dragons. "You know I could have drowned right?"

He did a large nod witch didn't help his case, "You could have, but I knew you wouldn't. The only way to painlessly activate your powers was to be fully submerged in my kinds blood for twenty seconds. If you didn't blast your way out after 25, I would have for you."

"Blasted my way out?" I asked curiously as I looked up to the ceiling to see a burn mark that wasn't there before. I looked at my hands remembering that some energy came out of them before the hole appeared above me. "What happened to me?" I whispered, not able to process what was going on.

"You're powers have been activated," The king said. "It seems to be a bit out of control but that will be fixed with due time. You have the defining feature of every dragon. The one you just showed was the Monstrous Nightmares ability to catch on fire. You used the Night Furys plasma blast to break the ice."

I sat at the edge of the hole to process all this new information. "How can I learn to control it?"

"Each of your dragon companions can teach you their defining skills. Once those are mastered, you and your friends will have the option of joining our nest where you can learn the rest."

Toothless pulled me back up with the rest of them and I looked at them asking their opinion.

"I'd be ok with joining a nest that doesn't have an evil queen," Stormfly said causing the others to nod in agreement. Other then Toothless who seemed apprehensive, which didn't go unnoticed by me.

I turned to the king, "We'll accept your offer for the lessons once I learn from my dragon friends and companions. Only, Toothless and I won't consider ourselves part of the nest. The others can join if they want."

He nodded in understanding, "Just know that you two are welcome to join anytime." I nodded, grateful for his understanding. "And you should know, your senses will become much stronger as time passes till they are even better than a dragon. All five of them will."

I nodded, "We'll take our leave. Thank you."

We shouted a goodbye to the other dragons in the nest then flew off back to our island, I in deep thought. Once we landed, Toothless noticed how quiet I was being.

"You ok Rainbow?"

I nodded. "I just need to think by myself. Why don't all of you play somewhere?"

They left, reluctantly, and I stood by the shore. Everything I ever thought I knew... Was a lie.
