Jake's POV

The first thing I hear in the morning to break my slumber was the ringing of the door bell. I mean, who wakes up at......12 in the noon?

Okay, that was unnecessary.

Sighing, I sluggishly made my way to the door. When I opened it, the sight in front of me made ,e groan.

"Hey! Good morning to you too." Millie chirped and made her way into the apartment.

"What *yawns* do you want?" I asked while scratching my arm. Damn, I am still sleepy. Millie was grinning at me while holding two grocery bags. She had worn a turtleneck dress today.

"Oh. You don't remember what I told you yesterday?" She asked me, a bid sadness in her eyes.

What is she talking about? Is she a stalker? Nah, looks too innocent for that kind of job. Then what- Oh I remember now! 15 things or some shit she talked about.

"See Millie, if you are here to play, I am seriously not in that mood. I do not know how who and Kris know each other, but for now, leave me alone." I said and turned to leave for my room. Just saying her name made my eyes swell.

"Do you think what you are doing is good?" Millie reasoned. Who is she to talk like that. What does she know about me anyway.

"I am here because Kris asked me to. She is a really important person in my life. I cannot let her be disappointed in me." I turned to see she had now placed those bags on the ground and now had crossed her hands over her chest to look intimidating. But she look more cut in that posture.

Woah woah heart, slow down

"Alright" I huffed. I'll just act a bit arrogant and then she will leave me in peace.

"Yippiee!!" Millie did a fist pump in the air and rushed towards kitchen. This girl- WAIT. How does she know where the kitchen is.

"How did you know where the kitchen was?" I asked as I entered the kitchen where she was placing some ingredients on the island. She visibly gulped.

"Um.... A lucky guess?" Now she was sweating profusely sweating.

"Ohkay......" I said with a i-do-not-trust-you look.

"Anyway! lets make some veg. cutlets!" Millie chirped.

"What?"I asked, dumbfounded. Now that was random.

"It is your favorite, right?" Millie asked, smiling. She is so beautiful.

Ba-dump.

Huh. what was that for? Why is my heart beating fast?

"Hello? You okay?" Millie snapped her fingers in front of my eyes. I can't believe I zoned out.

"Um, yeah. I am fine." I mumbled.

"So lets get to work!" Millie squealed. Her smile made me smile as well. It felt good to smile after so many days.

"I told you you needed corn flour. Not normal one!" I told Millie. It has been about an hour and half but we are not able to move forward from step 6.

"I did!" Millie exclaimed. Her face had flour here and there. 

"Idiot." I mumbled under my breath. She just stuck her tongue out. What is she, five?

This reminds me....

"Hey Millie?"

"Yeah?" She turned to look straight in my eyes. She really is beautiful. Stop it, remember you already love someone.

"What is your age?" 

"Oh. I never said much about myself , did I?"She just smiled sheepishly.

"I am 18" She said,somewhat proud of herself being 18.

"What? So you are just a kid eh?" I said, smirking.

"What!? I am fully an adult Mr. Wilson!" Her face was red due to anger. I just laughed at her antics.

"Whatever floats your boat, Kid." I turned to continue my job, not before I heard her mutter'jerk'.

She sure is a kid.

"So, How is it?" Millie asked. Quite nervous about my response.

"I swear Millie, if i get food poisoning , you are gonna pay all my hospital bills". I said with a mock glare.

"Oh shush you. Just eat it!" Now just how fun it is to annoy her. 

"Lord, please don't make me constipated." I muttered, loud enough for her to hear and earn an eye roll.

I took a bite of the cutlets. I chewed it slowly, increasing the suspense. They were actually good! But my ego is too big to accept this in front of her.

"So, how is it?" She asked again.

"This is.....*dramatic pause* Really. delicious." I said and she started to grin like a maniac.

"Oh my god! I am so glad you liked it!" With that, she launched herself on me and gave me a bear hug.

I was stunned for a second but returned the hug anyway.

My heart was beating fast. Faster than it did when I was around Kristy. No no no no. This is so not happening. I have just met her!

"Reason 1" Millie said while she pulled away from the hug. My body went cold again and I felt lonely.Why?

"Huh?" I said absentmindedly.

"Reason 1 why you should live your life as you used to. You get to eat your favorite cutlets." Millie said smiling. 

Oh yeah. This all is going on because of that 9 reasons thing. I somehow felt sad.

"Yeah" I mumbled.

"Besides, you must live fully cause then only I will make cutlets for you" Millie said with a smug look.

I just chuckled. Suddenly her phone rang.

"Excuse me." She fumbled through her bag and checked her caller. She tensed and then ran to the toilet with a pouch. Monthly date reminder?

I sighed and went to my room. As I entered, Kristy's face greeted me. But it was different this time. I did not feel sad while looking at her. I felt at ease. As if I have accepted she is gone.

Is this even possible?

"Hey Jake?"  Millie called out.

I went to the front door to see she was wearing her boots. She is leaving?

"I am so so so sorry. But I have to leave. My uncle has called me for an emergency." With one last sorry she left.

"Now what?" I mumbled and went in the kitchen to eat the remaining cutlets.

Millie's POV

I hurriedly made my way to the nearest vendor. After buying a bottle of water, I took my tablets and gulped them down in one go. Eugh. I hate tablets.

I started to walk absentmindedly and somehow made my way to the graveyard. This has happened before as well.

I made a straight beeline to Kristy's gravestone and sat down.

"Hey Kristy" I mumbled. 

"It has been a while, hasn't it?Jake is doing well. I promise that I will help him to get out of this situation. After all what you have done for me, This is the least I can do." i mumbled.

"But is it fine the way my heart beats around him?"
